There’s a reason why Boy Kavalier, the mean little angry man, never really liked the family members of his hybrids. It is because he believed that they would try to steal his greatest invention from him. He made it clear on multiple occasions that the Lost Boys belonged only to him, and no one had the right to “snatch away his toys.” So you understand why he started hating Marcy Hermit’s brother, Joe, as soon as he arrived at the Neverland facility. Joe wanted to take his sister back so he could give her a normal family life, but that wasn’t the future Kavalier had envisioned for his hybrids. In the previous episode, Kavalier had shown his interest in giving T. Ocellus, also known as the Octopus Eye, a human host so he could have a conversation with one of the most astonishing alien species he’d ever come across. And it was quite apparent that he was planning to make Joe the scapegoat, because that would not only give him a perfect host for his alien pet but also help Kavalier get rid of the brother trying to steal his favorite and most powerful hybrid.
Spoiler Alert
In Alien: Earth’s ending, Kavalier laid a trap to feed Joe to T. Ocellus, but things didn’t go as planned. Marcy saved him before the T. Ocellus could take him as a host. However, in the scuffle, T. Ocellus managed to escape through the drainpipes and reached the shore, where it came upon the corpse of Arthur Sylvia, who was killed in the previous episode by a chestburster. I think the first scene of the finale kind of foreshadowed that Arthur would come back to life, somehow. There was a crab on the hole in his chest, implying that some creature was going to fill his wound, bringing him to life again. And in a way, that was what T. Ocellus did. The alien species that resembles a tiny octopus, an eyeball with tentacles to be exact, removed one of Arthur’s eyeballs to make room for its parasitic body. And as soon as it fit itself in the eye socket, Arthur came to life, exactly the same way zombies come back from the dead. As I see it, T. Ocellus is like a zombie virus, which reactivates a person’s brain stem after they’ve died. In short, it hijacked Arthur’s body to serve its own interests.
However, as you all might be aware, T. Ocellus isn’t as dumb as the zombie virus. In fact, it is one of the smartest alien species we have come across in the Alien universe so far. I believe T. Ocellus has the ability to access its host’s memories and learn from their past experience, which helps the creature to evolve on an intellectual level. If this is true, then it explains how T. Ocellus was able to satisfy Kavalier and answer his mathematical queries. We know that, back on the USCSS Maginot, T. Ocellus had taken over the body of its engineer, Shmuel, from whom it likely picked up its academic skills. I guess you can now better understand the wrath T. Ocellus can unleash upon the humans and the hybrids with the help of Arthur’s body and his scientific brain.
In Alien: Earth’s finale, after the hybrids had imprisoned all the grown-ups, Aarush reported to Marcy that the plant monster and the eye thing got away. Ironically, he further added, “but they can’t hurt us.” Well, that’s your clue. Maybe the Orchid can’t hurt the hybrids, but T. Ocellus sure can. If you remember, it was the one that orchestrated the death of their friend, Tootles, aka Steven. And if you are still wondering why T. Ocellus would want to hurt Marcy and the hybrids, it’s because this rivalry has become way too personal. In episode 8, Marcy not only slammed T. Ocellus against the wall but also kicked it as if it were nothing. The thing is, if T. Ocellus is really as intelligent as we believe it to be, then it has its own equivalents of ego and pride. I guess it was because of its pride that it attacked the Xenomorph on the Maginot, because it wanted to be the most powerful creature in the ecosystem. And with all those kicks and punches, Marcy had really hurt T. Ocellus’ ego, which means it would be coming for the hybrids and the people they cherish the most, which includes Marcy’s brother, Joe, as well.
With Arthur’s memories at its disposal, T. Ocellus now knows all the secrets of Neverland Island. It has all the data of the Lost Boys project, which means T. Ocellus knows the hybrids’ weak spots and their vulnerabilities, and that will help it devise a plan to take out its enemies to become the undefeated champion of the planet. Basically, T. Ocellus knows everything Arthur knows, and its hunger for knowledge isn’t going to end with him. I believe in the next season of Alien: Earth, T. Ocellus is going to take more intelligent hosts, like Morrow and Kavalier, and if that happens, then it will be impossible for Marcy, or any other creature, for that matter, to stop T. Ocellus from bringing death and destruction to Earth. So, if the show returns for season 2, I think we should really hope that Marcy crushes that mischievous eyeball before it can do any more damage. We know that Marcy has two Xenomorphs by her side, and these predatory creatures can turn out to be her greatest weapon against the menacing T. Ocellus. A Xenomorph had defeated the T. Ocellus once, and I guess it is going to defeat it again, putting an end to its schemes. Well, these are just my thoughts about what T. Ocellus might try to pull off in Alien: Earth season 2, but if you have anything else to add, then please share your thoughts in the comment box.
