[Spoiler Alert] In the penultimate episode of Alien: Earth, Boy Kavalier, the eccentric trillionaire impressed by the intelligence of an extraterrestrial being, Trypanorhyncha Ocellus (also known as the T. Ocellus), declared that he wanted to implant the Eye into a person so he could talk to it and learn more about their kind. We as viewers know that it’s a crazy idea, but Kavalier will do anything to satiate his curiosity. Remember in episode 2, he told Dame Sylvia, one of the senior scientists at his Neverland facility, that he wasn’t looking for something as trivial as money. And it wasn’t about ego either. He created the hybrids because he wanted to talk to somebody smarter than him. From the very beginning, Kavalier had been looking to debate with someone who would blow his mind. He had hoped that his first hybrid, Wendy, would be able to measure up to his curiosity, but she still had a lot to learn; therefore, in the meantime, Kavalier shifted his focus to the extraterrestrial specimens brought to Earth by the USCSS Maginot. He was peculiarly interested in the eyeball with tentacles that could fit itself in the eye socket of its host body and take control of the vessel. Kavalier had been keeping a close watch on the Eye, and when he finally saw it display signs of advanced intelligence, he decided to put its intellect to a test. In the CCTV footage, Kavalier had seen how the Eye, possessing a sheep’s body, had orchestrated the death of one of his hybrids, Tootles, and knew that the Eye was aware of its surroundings, which was why he questioned it about the next three digits of pi, that is, the figures following the value 3.14. The Eye read the number written on Kavalier’s arm and gave him the answer he was looking for. And bingo. Its response “blew” Kavalier’s mind. However, a question you may want to ask is, how did the T. Ocellus know pi? Is it really an intelligent lifeform, as Kavalier believes it to be? I think that’s really not the case here. In my opinion, the T. Ocellus belongs to a race of evolved parasites who can not only access the memories of their hosts but also pick up their instincts. You see, the Eye fits itself in the eye socket of its host, which is extremely close to a being’s nervous system, making it easier for it to extract information from the gray matter where all the brain’s processing is done. In the show, the Eye has so far possessed the body of a cat, a sheep, and a human named Shmuel, an engineer on the Maginot. Obviously, a cat and a sheep wouldn’t know the value of pi, but an engineer like Shmuel would, right? And we all know that Shmuel wasn’t just an engineer. He was actually one of the most educated people on the Maginot, which explains where the Eye got all its cunningness from.
In Alien: Earth episode 7’s ending, Kavalier announced that he knew who would be the perfect host for the Eye, and since then, fans have been theorizing about the identity of the person Kavalier had in mind. Well, I think we don’t need to think too hard on that, as the trailer for episode 8 reveals that someone has popped one of the eyes of Yutani’s powerful cyborg, Morrow. In episode 7, Kavalier’s synth, Kirsh, had set a trap to capture his rival, Morrow, who in their last meeting had not only mocked Kirsh, but also threatened to chop him up, to which Kirsh replied, in not exact words, that he would love to pop his eyeball out and make him realize that he wasn’t a machine after all. He said it would be utterly satisfying for him to see the cyborg in pain, which brings me to the possibility that it could have been Kirsh who punctured the cyborg’s eye, and now Kavalier would find a better replacement for Morrow’s newly vacated socket.
However, if the T. Ocellus took control of Morrow’s body, wouldn’t it make the cyborg utterly dangerous to the humans of Neverland? I mean, only a fool would do something like that. But if we look at Kavalier’s past decisions, I think he is more than capable of such stupidity in the name of “science.” I believe that Kavalier and Kirsh (if he has any say in the matter) will be committing the worst mistake of their life if they let the T. Ocellus take Morrow as its host, but in such a scenario, the Eye will have access to Morrow’s vast knowledge of almost everything humans know so far. Remember in episode 3, Morrow connected himself to the Maginot’s system and downloaded all the data the crew had gathered on these alien species. This means if the Eye gets access to this information, then it’ll end up ten steps ahead of almost everyone. And that includes its nemesis, the Xenomorph. We know that he’s got some beef with Xenomorphs, or maybe it’s just a natural predator instinct to attack and defeat the dominant race to rule the ecosystem.
But even though the trailer hints at the fact that the T. Ocellus can target Morrow, I won’t deny the possibility that it might end up taking someone else as its host in Alien: Earth’s finale. Speaking of the potential candidates, we have Wendy’s brother, Joe Hermit, whom Kirsh and Kavalier don’t like very much and see as an “onion” among intellectuals. I mean, Kavalier sees Joe as acceptable collateral damage, and he won’t mind pushing him under the bus so he doesn’t try to steal Wendy from him. And I know many of you may say that he’ll use Atom Eins, his lawyer, and advisor, as a guinea pig for his experiments, but I don’t know if he’s that reckless. He knows that he needs people like Eins, Kirsh, and Dame Sylvia around him to help him run the company so he can focus more on his inventions and innovations. So, if Kavalier has a name in mind, then it could either be Joe, Arthur, Sylvia, or someone totally random. And I guess it is Kirsh who’s going to suggest they “volunteer” Morrow for the experiment, as he is already in their custody, and if an alien takes him hostage, then they can easily deny accountability, because it was the cyborg who trespassed into a quarantine zone and got infected by an alien. But whoever becomes the T. Ocellus’ next host, we all know that it’s only Wendy, tag-teaming with her new pet Xenomorph, who will be able to stop the Eye. Also, we are aware of the fact that the Eye hasn’t made an appearance in the previous iterations of the Alien franchise, so it’s possible that Wendy or Xenomorph will end up killing the Eye, either by the end of the first season or sometime in the next one. But like I said earlier, it won’t go down alone, and will take one of the key characters of the show with it, and who’s going to be it? Well, I would love to hear your thoughts and theories on this, so do drop a comment in the box below.
