Barracuda Queens season 2 gives us a happy ending for the 5 “queens” of thieving. Netflix’s Swedish show is loosely based on true events. The first season, which was set in 1995, introduced us to the 5 queens, who got away with stealing expensive jewelry, paintings, etc., almost by chance. The girls initially robbed a wealthy home in the hope of paying off a debt but enjoyed the thrill of it all too much. When things got out of hand, it was Margareta, Lollo’s mom, who saved them. Now, in the year 2000, a new millennium has begun, and the girls have all moved on since that near-arrest experience. Now they’re all older, but not as independent as they’d hoped they would be. So this led them to consider taking up robbing again. The second season sees the girls living together and having the time of their lives until things get out of hand. But will they finally get caught? Let’s find out in Barracuda Queens season 2.
Spoiler Alert
Who Gets Blamed For Stealing The Paintings?
In season 2, the girls first steal some paintings from the gallery where Amina works. Her boss hires a private investigator named Paul to find out what happened, and he catches on to them pretty early on, only not being able to find any actual evidence of the crime committed. The girls are able to sell only one painting, and that too to Andre, the man who sexually assaulted Frida in his own gallery in the previous season. Then, when Lollo steals from the National Museum, she gets kidnapped by the men who wanted to steal that painting. But luckily for her, the police catch on to them, and just as the girls come over to give them the painting, the police break into the house, giving Lollo a chance to escape (that was pretty unrealistic, but way to go, girl). However, Manolo didn’t trust the fact that Andre changed his number (Lollo’s idea to pretend to be Andre). So, he ends up calling them to a remote place. At the time, Amina is busy with Calle, and Lollo’s at a spa with her mom. Despite Klara thinking it’s a bad idea, they end up taking the painting to Manolo, but it’s Andre instead, and he doesn’t even give them any money in return. The whole thing’s a mess.
But the girls end up making a revenge plan because they feel invincible after Lollo’s escape. They decide to hijack Andre’s plan, go to Copenhagen (after learning that he’s going to meet Manolo there), and sell the painting themselves. He’s never seen Klara, so she gets in the lift with him in the hotel and finds out which room is his. She then goes back to his room and asks if he has some tonic, because it’s missing from her minibar. Seeing as he’s a pervert, he happily lets her in, but Lollo and Amina are right behind her. Klara knees him, and the girls immediately tie him up. They then take him to their room, wrapped in the sheets. This doesn’t make sense because how are there no CCTV cameras to catch them? Also, realistically, these 4 girls can’t carry a grown man who looks so built, but we’ll let that slide because we love girls. Anyway, Friday shaves the middle of his head, which I absolutely loved. Then Amina tells Manolo that she’s going to do the transaction because she’s Andre’s assistant and he couldn’t make it.
Manolo is reluctant but buys the painting off of her because he can’t get in touch with Andre. When he steps out of the room, the room service cart comes in his way, and he falls, dropping the painting. Another flawed plan, in my opinion. What if he hadn’t dropped the painting? Anyway, it’s Mia dressed as the cleaner, and she switches the painting with a similar-looking brown package with books in it. In the final part of the plan, they have the money, and they plant the painting in Andre’s trunk, telling the police to keep an eye out on the bridge where cars from Copenhagen cross over to Sweden. He’s caught, and the girls escape scot-free. But they’re not done just yet. The girls then tip off Paul about Manolo, claiming he has the Zorn, but that they don’t know about the other paintings. That’s because they burnt them. So now Paul gets the painting back for Siv, and she’s delighted. The girls are entirely free to do whatever they want with the 10 million kronors. But what about the hair in Jesper’s car?
Whose Hair Is In Jesper’s Car?
Barracuda Queens is so focused on being fun that it leaves some major loopholes, like what happened to Nikolas’ car? How come the kidnappers didn’t tell the police that the girls stole a painting too? Surely they’re not kind enough to keep it hush-hush. Anyway, in this season, fortunately, we don’t get any of the parents’ drama, except for Lollo’s parents, which is fine, because that mess really came in the way in the first season. In season 2, Amina and Calle both realize they still like each other, but on the night of the mishap with Andre, Amina had to go save the girls from a random house in the middle of the forest. She didn’t just leave Calle in the middle of the night; she also told him she couldn’t say what it was about. He feels like she’s fickle because she’s repeated the same thing from last time, so he doesn’t want to give her another chance. But more importantly, because his girlfriend is now his fiancée. In my opinion, Calle’s going to repeat his dad’s pattern, and because he thinks he can settle with Sofia now, he’s going to let Amina be, but then he’s going to end up cheating on his wife in the future because he won’t be happy with her. She’s controlling and bossy, just like his mother…I know. Shame he doesn’t give Amina another chance, because she’s a great girl, despite the klepto tendencies.
Now, Lollo’s head over heels for Jesper because he sends her a customized ashtray and promises to take her to Bora Bora. But by the end of the show, it is revealed that the hair in Jesper’s car belonged to his wife. Huh, so all the stuff Lollo dreamed about with this man was a big waste yet again. Lollo was left heartbroken in the previous season by Tobbe. I don’t think she’s naive, but I do think she doesn’t have the best taste. I still think there’s a chance she and Amina might find love with each other, but hey, I could be very wrong.
In Barracuda Queens season 2’s ending, Jesper and his family are set to go to Bora Bora, but their tickets go missing. Somehow, he’d been carrying the tickets with him in the bag he took to meet Lollo the previous night, so she conveniently stole 5 tickets and got them transferred to the girls’ names, charging his card. Was this possible back in 2000? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Anyway, the show ends with the girls being 10 million richer, having not a care in the world, and going to Bora Bora on vacation on Jesper’s money. Somehow, their victory feels good because they’ve taken revenge on moderately evil to very evil men, which makes it all somewhat justifiable. You just want them to succeed, I suppose. Oh, and Klara’s engaged to Nikolas, fun stuff. While in the first season, the girls used the heist to become close to each other and escape their daily lives, the second season allowed them to explore some of the complicated parts of their relationships, too. While they’re still wealthy, with the change in lifestyle and their addiction to crime, they decided to go back to it after 5 years.
Will There Be A Season 3?
Unfortunately, this is the last we’ll see of the Barracuda Queens because it’s been confirmed that season 2 is the final season. I’d have liked to know how the girls finally get caught but we’re left with a happy ending.
