Within a few days of the release of Beauty in Black season 1 part 1, back in October of 2024, the series became the most streamed show on Netflix, bearing clear indication of the immense popularity of the show’s producer, writer, and director Tyler Perry. As part 2 of the season now releases, the story of Kimmie continues as she prepares to go against all odds to protect her younger sister, Sylvie, from the terrible people running the strip club and prostitution ring. Beauty in Black season 1 ends with this release, and it remains a highly unentertaining and campy show, recommended only to those who don’t mind such productions.

What is Part 2 about?
Beauty in Black had begun with the protagonist, Kimmie, stuck in a horrific life as an adult entertainer at a club, and also being forced into prostitution by her boss, Jules. But determined to change the ways of her life, Kimmie had enrolled in the scholarship program run by the Bellarie Beauty in Black haircare company, intended to make the industry more accessible to all. Kimmie’s overall interest in leaving the world of adult entertainment behind was not taken well by Jules, since the framework of the highly exploitative industry was such that performers were forcefully made to remain indebted to their bosses. The protagonist too, therefore, had some debts to settle with Jules, while the latter wanted to ensure that she would never be able to leave. The exploitative nature of the industry and the bosses’ overall disregard for its performers were also laid bare when Kimmie’s closest friend, Rain, fell terribly sick after trying to get surgery from unprofessional medics. This made Kimmie all the more angry against the profession, and she hoped that she would be able to make her exit very soon.
But even without the scholarship program, Kimmie incidentally became involved with the Bellarie Beauty in Black company, as one of the younger stakeholders in the business, Roy Bellarie, happened to be her client. Despite being married to Mallory, the woman who mostly ran the family business and was also the face of the brand, Roy regularly hired the services of Kimmie while also being overly possessive about his estranged wife. This possessiveness was not unique to just Roy, though, as Mallory too was extra cautious of her husband’s movements, and when she realized that he had been cheating on her with someone, she hired the service of Jules, a henchman of the Bellarie family, and the same man running the strip club, to find out about this woman.
Meanwhile, Kimmie and her friend from the club, Angel, also got introduced to the patriarch of the family, Horace Bellarie, who frequented the club to get intimate with Angel. Believing Horace to be the top boss behind the morally corrupt and exploitative businesses, Kimmie agreed to Angel’s plan of robbing the man but then changed her mind when she learned that he had helped fund Rain’s treatment. As it turned out, Horace’s brother, Norman, was the one secretly running the strip club business with Jules, and Horace really had no idea about its existence. The series then also got into the complications of the family ties, while Kimmie learned that her younger sister, Sylvie, had been kidnapped by Jules’ men.
In Beauty in Black part 2, Kimmie sets out on a vengeful run to find her missing sister, with the help of Angel. She first kills Body by ramming her car into the woman and then also shoots off Delinda’s face in an effort to find out where Sylvie is being kept. As she continues her efforts, the Bellarie family starts to grieve the loss of Horace’s younger son, Charles, after his luxury car is shot at and set on fire by someone. With the family members suspecting one another over the series of unnatural events, a number of revelations and twists ultimately threaten the very nature of the Bellarie family by the end.
Who had attacked Charles and why?
Beauty in Black part 2 begins at the very same spot where the previous part had ended, on a secluded road in a private property where a fancy sports car had been shot at and set fire to by some unknown perpetrators. This car actually belonged to the younger son of Horace and Olivia Bellarie, Charles, who had the least interest in the family business, or even the inheritance. Because of this, the family members, who are soon called to the spot by the police and their own goons, believe that Charles has been killed, and the grief-stricken parents vow to find the people responsible for this violent attack. Since the body of the driver inside the car is completely charred, the police also cannot exactly identify it, and the Bellarie family starts to grieve the loss of Charles.
However, when their lawyer, Varney, who also happens to be in love with Charles, visits the latter’s house to get hold of some clothes for his funeral, he is shocked to find the man alive and well. In recent times, Charles had developed a habit of regularly visiting Jules’ strip club, and he did not shy away from spending exorbitantly at the place. Therefore, one of the male performers had taken notice of his immense wealth and made a plan to rob him. On the very night of the attack, only a couple of hours earlier, Charles was himself robbed at the club, and the performer responsible for the act also stole his car. When the attack was finally carried out, the perpetrators believed that they were killing Charles, but they actually ended up killing the performer who had stolen the man’s car.
While the attack on Charles turns out to be a failed attempt, the reason behind it becomes quite important and an integral piece in the puzzle of the familial politics among the Bellaries. Just as suspected by most, the attack had indeed been ordered by Charles’ uncle, Norman, who had completely lost his mental stability after the death of his beloved wife, Ina. As shown in the previous part, Ina had actually been accidentally run over by both Mallory and Roy, and although there was no way to prove this, Norman had started to believe that the couple had killed his wife upon the orders of Horace. Despite being siblings, Horace and Norman are enemies at present because of various professional and personal factors in their past, and so they both believe that the other is always out to hurt them.
Losing his mind after the death of Ina and holding Horace responsible for the tragedy, Norman first set out on a killing spree and then planned a hit on his youngest nephew, knowing very well that this would hurt Horace and Olivia tremendously. Therefore, he hired goons to shoot up Charles’ car and then set it on fire as well, so that there was no way for the man to escape. But as the plan technically failed, and the situation changed thereafter, Norman is eventually seen admitting his guilt to Olivia.
How does Mallory try to protect her share of the inheritance?
After the attack on Charles takes place, Mallory hires Jules for a secret mission—to get hold of a man to pin the blame for the attack on. Jules happens to be an expert in such illegal activities, and so he does not have to go too far in search of a perfect candidate. The ruckus that Kimmie had made at the motel when she killed Body was already being investigated by the police, and so the witness to the whole incident, a man named Debo, had to be removed from the spot in order to avoid getting linked to the crime and the strip club. Therefore, Jules decides to make use of Debo, a drug addict, to get his secret mission completed as well, and he presents the young man in front of the Bellarie family as the main perpetrator behind the attack on Charles.
Incidentally, the reason for Mallory to make this plan and pin the blame on someone else is linked to the many strange clauses that had been put into the will of the company. Among these clauses was one that stated that in case a family member was killed by their blood relative, who also had a stake in the company, then the whole inheritance would be cancelled and turned into shares, meaning that nobody would receive any money at all. With most suspecting Norman to have ordered the hit on Charles, and Mallory herself seemingly fearing that her husband also might have had a role to play in it, she had to do something to avoid any further investigation. It was for this very reason that she got Jules to make Debo seem like the criminal who had attacked and tried to kill Charles, apparently to loot him.
Interestingly, Norman obviously realizes that Debo is lying, for it was he who had ordered the hit on his nephew, and so he picks up the man for further questioning. But Jules had already instructed Debo about how to deal with such a situation and had also paid the addict enough money to carry out his plan. Therefore, Debo tells Norman that it was actually he who had run over Ina, causing her death, and had then worked with Jules to hide the truth. This ensures that the real secret is never out, and Norman gets to have his revenge as well, by torturing and possibly even killing Debo.
While Mallory is able to save the inheritance in the first situation, she fears losing her stake later in the season, once again because of another clause mentioned in the will. When Roy is pushed out of the window in the hotel room by Kimmie, he is under the influence of drugs, as always. But one of the clauses mentions that if any stakeholder dies while under the influence of any drugs or alcohol, their inheritance will be forfeited. Mallory fears that if Roy dies in such a state, then he will surely not get any part of the inheritance, meaning that she too would be cut out from it, as she is his wife. Therefore, Mallory rushes to save her husband and prevent his death, despite absolutely hating him and having no ounce of love for him.
How does Olivia deflect the lawsuit coming her way?
Horace’s ex-wife, Olivia, is also an extremely shrewd and evil individual who would do just about anything to receive her portion of the inheritance. Despite being divorced from Horace, Olivia is set to receive a significant portion of the family wealth because of her contributions to the business, even after she has retired. It is hinted that Olivia had paid off the adult performers at the club to rob Horace, and possibly even kill him, since his death would mean that she would receive her money right away.
During Beauty in Black season 1’s ending, the lawyer who had been handling the public lawsuits against the company, Lena, comes to serve a notice to Olivia as well, since the woman was legally a witness to the terrible malpractices in the factory. However, Olivia remains unmoved by the very public act of Lena, and instead she physically hits the lawyer until the latter hits back as well. Olivia immediately cuts out this portion of the footage from the security cameras, since the hospital belongs to the Bellarie family and therefore she has access to its cameras, and threatens to use it to vilify Lena publicly. As the lawyer has to back away, Olivia reminds her that she can go after the business and even against her ex-husband, but she will not tolerate any action taken against her, making it clear that she is a highly corrupt woman not to be messed with so easily.
What happens to Kimmie and her friends?
In Beauty in Black part 2’s ending, Kimmie is not only able to reunite with her younger sister, Sylvie, but she also receives the shock of her life when Horace proposes to her. Horace did not want his ex-wife or sons to receive any of the family inheritance, and since the only way to avoid that would be for him to remarry, he decided to make Kimmie his new wife. This means that all the problems in Kimmie’s life at present are magically resolved, and that she will also get the entire inheritance after the death of her aging husband. Horace also names Kimmie as the new boss of the Bellarie Beauty in Black company, much to the anger and frustration of his family members. Sylvie, who had been sold off by her mother, will also continue to live with her elder sister from now on. Rain also recovers from her ailment almost completely and remains the closest friend to the protagonist. Kimmie’s other friend, Angel, does not have such a nice fate, however, as he is arrested by the police on charges of the murder of a different man, who had actually died when Kimmie had carjacked a woman on the road. Crucially, this woman is married to a dangerous criminal, and so it is very likely that Angel will find himself in extreme trouble very soon.
