‘Billionaires’ Bunker’ Season 2 Theories: Will Guillermo Falcon Die Next?

Published

Alex Pina, famous for one of Netflix’s most popular series, Money Heist, is back with another heist drama, Billionaires’ Bunker. But does his latest work reach the bar set by Money Heist? The answer is no. The biggest flaw of the show is that it fails to make us root for its characters. We are not emotionally invested in their journey. So even though the first season of Billionaires’ Bunker ended on a cliffhanger, I am not sure if the streaming platform would be interested in renewing it for another season, especially with those horrendous ratings out there. However, if they do, then I have a few theories on what may happen next in Billionaires’ Bunker, so if you are ready for those spoilers, let’s jump straight into it.

Spoiler Alert

Max Will Return To The Bunker

In Billionaires’ Bunker’s ending, we saw Max standing near a metallic door, which can be presumed to be the exit doorway of the bunker. But is it really? Well, for those who have seen enough shows of this type, it’s always a possibility that the alleged cliffhanger is nothing but a red herring. We don’t know what’s on the other side of the metallic door. So, I won’t keep my hopes high. It’s possible that before Max is able to leave for the surface, Minerva, the woman running the show, will have Max captured and bring him back to the bunker. And so will we all end up back at square one? However, if we entertain the possibility that Max will be able to leave the bunker for real, then he may find other human beings in the vicinity. In episode 1, a shot revealed that there are people fishing near the bunker’s location. Hence, if Max encounters any of these locals, then the illusion Minerva and her brother, Ziro, have created will be shattered in a matter of seconds, and Max will connect the dots to eventually figure out what these people in the orange costumes are up to. And if that happens, he will immediately inform the authorities and bring them to the bunker’s location, forcing Minerva to release the people in her captivity. Yes, it will create a similar hostage situation as we saw in Money Heist, and we all know how the drama will unfold from thereon. But whatever the case might be, I am quite certain that Max will return to the bunker sooner or later. And the reason for his return will be to save his new lover, Asia.

The Aftermath of Mimi’s Death

I think Mimi’s death is inevitably going to bring Asia and her father, Guillermo Falcon, closer than they have been before. In three years, they have lost three important members of their family, that is, Guillermo’s daughter and Asia’s sister, Ane; Guillermo’s wife and Asia’s biological mother, Marta; and now Guillermo’s second wife and Asia’s stepmother, Mimi. This makes Asia the only family Guillermo is left with, and I guess you know what that means. The womanizing billionaire is going to take a break from his reckless life and, for the first time ever, will try to be a father to his only surviving child. And, if we see such a transformation in Guillermo’s character, then he won’t hesitate to sacrifice his own life for Asia’s safety and happiness. The truth about the bunker is a ticking time bomb, and when Minerva’s cover is eventually blown, there is going to be a state of panic among the residents, and Guillermo, being the short-tempered billionaire that he is, will try to take matters into his own hands to help rescue her daughter.

Mimi’s death could also have an emotional impact on Victoria, Max’s grandmother, who can be seen as instrumental in Mimi’s early death. I guess you all know how Victoria sedated Mimi with her morphine patches, because of which she didn’t feel the pain in her liver and couldn’t raise the alarm. However, the question here is, is this the first time Victoria took the life of an innocent individual for her own sexual pleasure? Maybe yes, which means Mimi’s death will leave her devastated. It may even metastasize her cancer, leading to her death in season 2. The reason why I am talking about all this death is because these tragedies have never been a part of Minerva’s grand scheme. She and her teammates believed that bringing the billionaires to the bunker and stealing from them was going to be easy, but with so many dead bodies turning up, I think it will break the team apart, making them realize that this wasn’t what they signed up for. However, I will be more interested in seeing if Minerva, whose lover had been previously killed by Ziro, will take responsibility for these deaths. If it weighs on her conscience, then it’s possible that she will abandon the plan in the middle and distribute the money they have stolen among her team so each of them can go their separate ways.

The Next Step of the Plan

After stealing from Guillermo Falcon and having his financial advisor, Oswaldo, killed, Minerva and Ziro are going to target another billionaire from the bunker. Well, we still don’t know who this individual is going to be, but I am quite certain that the second season will spend a huge chunk of its screentime revealing how Minerva plans to execute the scam. As usual, the show will bring on those irritating flashbacks to tell us that she has already figured it out and that she will use this particular billionaire’s AI clone and their cellphone to trick the people managing their wealth, the same way they fooled Oswaldo.

Rafa and Frida May Get Back Together

We know that Frida doesn’t have any feelings for Rafa, and on multiple occasions, she has revealed that Guillermo has always been the love of her life, but I think Mimi’s death and Max’s confrontation with Mimi are going to have some emotional and mental impact on Frida’s character, and she will soon realize that Rafa is the only person who loves her unconditionally. After Mimi’s death, Guillermo will obviously not be letting any other woman into his life for his daughter’s sake, which means Frida will have no other option but to mend her relationship with her husband. The brief exchange between Rafa and Max further implied that even though Rafa has slept with another woman, it only makes him miss his wife more. I know rich people can be pretty absurd sometimes. However, the bigger question here is, will Max ever be able to forgive his mother? Well, I don’t think so. We still don’t know how these people are going to be rescued from the bunker, but whenever they escape, Max and Asia are going to cut all ties with their families, and Max’s father, Rafa, and Asia’s father, Guillermo, will understand their decision and respect it. It also makes me speculate that in the end, Guillermo Falcon is going to give away all his generational wealth to charity.

The Authorities Will Get Involved

No matter how perfect a crime is, it cannot go unnoticed forever, and this brings me to the possibility that Oswaldo’s murder will somehow backfire and expose Minerva’s well-thought-out plan. Oswaldo’s sudden but strange death is going to raise some unavoidable questions, bringing in the authorities to investigate the matter. If that happens, then the Spanish police are going to check his bank and phone records and will want to interrogate his boss, Guillermo Falcon, who has disappeared without a trace. Too many red flags here, right? They will eventually connect the dots that it’s not just Guillermo and his wife, Mimi, who have disappeared, but also his daughter, Asia, which, as I see it, is too much of a coincidence. Now this brings them to their past connections, the boyfriend of the dead daughter who has recently been released from prison? And their investigation will lead them to Max, who will either become a prime suspect in the disappearance of the Falcon family, or will help the police to locate them along with a bunch of other billionaires. Or it can be possible that the police track down Falcon’s cellphone, which, as you know already, is connected to a phone network, and this will bring them to the location where Minerva has been hiding these people. So my theory is that the authorities are going to take notice of the sudden disappearance of so many billionaires around Spain and initiate a thorough investigation to make contact with them, and Minerva won’t be able to fool them for long. But how she and Ziro are going to deal with them will be something I will be looking out for.

Well, these are my speculations of what we can expect in Billionaires’ Bunker season 2, but if you have anything to share, please feel free to comment below.
