‘Bulgasal’ Episode 5: Recap/Ending – Why Bulgasal Can’t Kill Sang Un?

In Episode 4 of Bulgasal, another Bulgasal made a shocking appearance and attacked Sang Un and Hwal. Hwal attacked the monster in his weak state, and the monster ran away. However, in Bulgasal Episode 5, he approaches Hwal again and arranges a meeting with him. How did Bulgasal become weak? And what is he plotting with Hwal against Sang Un? Let’s find out.

Hwal Pledges To Protect Sang Un

Hwal takes Sang Un home and locks her up to protect her from Bulgasal. The other Bulgasal is also behind Sang Un’s soul, and Hwal can’t let him take her away. He had waited more than 600 years to get revenge on her. Sang Un and Si Ho are in real danger as the real Bulgasal who killed their family has come back. Though Sang Un is safe with Hwal, Si Ho is waiting for Sang Un to come home. Hwal makes sure to keep his past-life wife safe as well and sends Hye Suk for her protection. Bulgasal is much stronger than Hwal. Will Hwal be able to keep either of them safe?

What Happens At Bulgasal’s Meeting?

Bulgasal calls Hwal for a meeting regarding their mutual interest, i.e., killing Sang Un. Over the 1000 years of his life, he has adapted to human life and has completely blended himself among them. He goes by the alias “Ok Eul Tae” and lives a lavish lifestyle, even eating human food and blood. While discussing his previous lives, Eul Tae reveals to Hwal that he has killed Sang Un in each of his seven births. If Eul Tae kills her soul for the 8th time, it will vanish forever, and she will never be born again. Thus, breaking the chain of rebirth. However, the problem is that he cannot kill her this time. Why?

Sang Un and Sang Yeon share two parts of a single soul. With Sang Yeon gone, Sang Un carries the rest of the soul. On the other hand, Eul Tae has a black hole on his chest for reasons only Sang Yeon knew. According to him, it is a curse left by Sang Yeon on him that won’t let him kill Sang Un. Hence, Eul Tae wants Hwal’s help to kill Sang Un. Hwal is unsure about Eul Tae’s offer. As they leave, Eul Tae warns Hwal to not trust Sang Un. He tries to convince Hwal that she is their common enemy, and now the fate of Sang Un lies in Hwal’s hands.

Bulgasal Episode 5: Ending

Si Ho was safe with Hye Suk until she discovered Hye Suk’s picture with Hwal and ran away. On the other hand, detective Kwon rescues Sang Un while Hwal leaves to meet Eul Tae. However, Hwal arrives right at the time to capture Sang Un. He takes her to the well that he has built to imprison the real Bulgasal, i.e., Sang Un, and get his soul back.

Meanwhile, Eul Tae waits for Hwal to bring Sang Un to him. When Hwal is about to kill Sang Un, Hye Suk comes running, shouting that Si Ho has gone missing. Hwal calls Eul Tae and finds out that Eul Tae ordered a water monster to abduct Si Ho. Sang Un is ready to sacrifice herself to protect her sister, but Hwal promises to save Si Ho.

Eul Tae is a narcissistic Bulgasal who holds power and knows how to overpower his enemies. He threatens Hwal to kill him in every human life if he takes away Sang Un’s soul because it will hamper Eul Tae’s only chance to kill Sang Un. If Hwal kills Sang Un, Eul Tae will become human again, and Sang Un will become a Bulgasal. Hwal has also kept a grudge against Sang Un for centuries and will not give up on her easily. Between this fight of two Bulgasals, Sang Un is ready to give in if it concerns her sister’s safety. Three beings want to avenge each other, but only one will win. In the next episode, we will find out if Si Ho is alive and will Hwal save her from the monster? If it happens, this will become a rivalry between the two Bulgasals.
