Dabba Cartel season 1 ended on a cliffhanger where a lot of things were still uncertain. [Spoiler Alert] We saw in season 1 that Chacko forced Raji to shoot Moushumi after he got to know that she had betrayed his trust and done business with Sheila, aka Kashi Tai. He also told Raji that Moushumi was the biological mother of her husband, and that Sheila has hidden a lot of things from her and Hari for the past 30 odd years. The ladies had never imagined that they would get stuck in such a mess when they had started selling drugs. But now they didn’t have any option, and they had to follow Chacko’s orders. Though there hasn’t been any official confirmation about the creators bringing us another season, let’s theorize about everything we can expect from Dabba Cartel season 2.
Will Preeti Expose Shahida?
In season 1’s ending, Preeti discovered that Shahida was in touch with Bhowmick Bose. Though Shahida had lied to her on several occasions about it, Mrs. Tijori, the president of the VivaLife Pharma, informed Preeti that Varuna and Bhowmick used to meet secretly, and then Preeti figured out herself that Shahida too was associated with Varuna. Preeti still had no clue why Shahida had lied through her teeth, though I guess Preeti would find out in the next season.
Ajit Pathak, the FDSCO official, had also figured out that Modella and Mithai, the new green drug on the market, both had fentanyl in them. Pathak knew that somebody from VivaLife was involved in the manufacture of the green drug. It was just a matter of time before Pathak and Preeti sat together and discussed it and found out who was behind it. What would be interesting to see is if Preeti would expose Shahida or not. We saw that both of them were romantically inclined towards each other, and obviously Preeti wouldn’t have expected that Shahida would break her trust in such a manner. Shahida, on the other hand, was told by Varuna to cut all ties with Preeti as her looming presence was becoming a problem for the business.
At the end of season 1, Shahida deleted Preeti’s number from her cell phone, probably because she had realized she was knee-deep in the swamp after the entire Chacko affair. Shahida still loved Preeti, and she didn’t want anything to happen to her. In the second season, Preeti will have to make a choice between her duty and her love. I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that she will help the Dabba Cartel to get rid of the drug lord, Chacko, and get the better of him. I know that Preeti, being a righteous cop, wouldn’t support Shahida’s line of work or anybody else running the cartel and manufacturing drugs for that matter, but she would come to their rescue if their lives were at stake.
Will Shankar And Varuna Resolve Their Differences?
Varuna, together with Sheila, Mala, Raji and Shahida, had stolen the leftover stock of Modella that Shankar had asked Hari to destroy. The plan was to mix Modella with MDMA and sell it in the market as a new drug. But then at the end, Chavan stole it from their safekeeping as Raji had informed him about how Sheila sold it in the market for double the price. Raji wanted Chavan to take over their business as she wanted an easy exit from this bloody business. She knew that the other members of the “Dabba Cartel,” even her own mother-in-law, would be livid when they got to know about it, but Raji just wanted to make her future secure, and she didn’t want to get stuck in any kind of legal mess.
We saw that after the women were literally terrorized on Chacko’s ranch, they all felt very extreme emotions. Where on one end Raji totally lost her mind and got traumatized, Shahida and Mala regretted the choices they made. Though Varuna also had a terrifying experience, she came out of this incident a different person. She went and told Shankar directly that she knew that he had more stocks of Modella. Varuna told him that they would need it in the near future so that they could get some advantage over VivaLife. It is to be stated here that it was Varuna who clicked a picture of Shankar’s email and then passed it on to Bhowmick. This email became one of the primary pieces of evidence against Shankar, and it brought his involvement in the manufacturing of the banned drug to light. I don’t know what Varuna had on her mind, but I have a feeling that she will join forces with Shankar and help in his battle. On the contrary, it could also be possible that Varuna too will make Shankar a scapegoat and uses his case to her advantage somehow. It cannot be denied that she felt really hurt when she got to know that Shankar had hidden the fact that VivaLife wanted her to join the company at a senior position, and he, without even asking his wife, turned down the offer. Maybe to get even with him, she deals a blow where it hurts the most, but still I am more inclined to believe that Shankar and Varuna will resolve their differences and help each other out.
What will happen between Hari and Raji?
In season 1’s ending, Hari was hit with a shocking revelation. He found out that Moushumi, Sheila’s best friend, was his biological mother. Hari also came across a will and a letter addressed to him where Moushumi had mentioned that she had made many mistakes in her life, but her only intention behind giving him up to Sheila was to prioritized his safety. But I don’t think that it will be easy for Hari to understand the plight of his biological mother. He would likely feel betrayed and cheated.
I think Sheila and Raji wouldn’t be able to hide the fact that they manufactured drugs for long. So long as Sheila was dealing with Chavan, she knew that she would be able to keep things under control. But now things had gotten out of hand. With Chacko’s involvement, the stakes were higher, and the threats too. I don’t think that either Raji or Sheila had the privilege of keeping things to themselves. And it’s kind of obvious that Hari isn’t going to take this second shocking revelation lightly. There will be a rift created between Raji and Hari, and he will probably even stop talking to Sheila, because at the end of the day, it was her desire to make it big in the drug business. Raji, time and again, told Sheila to stop, but being a part of the mafia world was what gave Sheila her sense of purpose. That said, I do have a feeling that considering Hari was an opportunist, he will see the silver lining in whatever happened, and there is a possibility that he will join the Dabba Cartel in some capacity.
Will Iklakh come to help Sheila?
I believe that Iklakh will make a wildcard entry in season 2, and his involvement in things will change the power dynamics of the mafia world. At the end of season 1, Chacko was able to take advantage of Sheila and the other women because he knew that they were helpless and they had no option other than to do as he told them. But then it is to be taken into consideration that Sheila, aka Kashi Tai, was once a known name in the Mumbai underworld. She was a part of the Mirza gang, and she too was quite influential and well connected. I agree that after she went underground, 30 years ago, things had changed substantially, but that didn’t mean that the old tigress had forgotten how to hunt.
A flashback sequence revealed that Moushumi had told Sheila that she needed to go into hiding together with Hari, and in her absence, Sheila and Iklakh would handle the police. So that meant that whosoever this Iklakh was, he too was a part of the system, and if Moushumi said with so much certainty that he would be able to handle things, then that meant that not only was this man well connected, but he was an influential man himself.
In season 1’s ending, Sheila called Iklakh because she knew that he was the only person she could trust, and he was probably the only one who could get them out of the trouble. Sheila is not somebody who will look to merely survive. We saw how she dealt with Chavan and how she demanded respect from him. I believe that with Iklakh’s help, Sheila will try to get the better of Chacko. She will work for him, but at the same time she will make plans to orchestrate a coup and take over his empire. I mean, seeing the passion in Sheila’s eyes, I believe that that is her end game. She wanted to become the godmother of the Mumbai drug scene, and I believe that he will turn her dreams into reality in season 2.
