We’re finally at that point in Dynamite Kiss where everybody knows the truth about everybody, and we can finally be happy, but of course, this is not where things end. This is a K-DRAMA in particular, so the thrills aren’t going to take a pause just yet. Episodes 9 and 10 are focused on repairing Ji-Hyeok and Da-Rim’s relationship in a way, but also, as we’re getting closer to the end of the show, things at work are going to get complicated. So complicated that there’s going to be fires that Da-Rim saves Ji-Hyeok from! This show definitely follows the typical K-drama style of making things especially dark, despite being a colorful romance; however, it still manages to subvert the trope by resolving the matter really quickly and easily. Anyway, I definitely enjoyed the interaction between Ji-Hyeok and Seon-U in front of the moms, making it so clear what they’re after, but somehow Da-Rim is still kind of oblivious despite knowing they’re both obsessed with her. Anyway, with that said, let’s jump straight into episodes 9 and 10 of Dynamite Kiss.
Spoiler Alert
Is Ji-Hyeok Happy Da-Rim Is Single?
Episode 9 opens with Ji-Hyeok realizing Da-Rim is not Jun’s mother because the boy calls her aunt while they don’t know Ji-Hyeok is watching them. But Ji-Hyeok knows he’s got to get engaged, though, because that’s what he needs to save his mother from this terrible marriage. However, his mum has an even better idea. She doesn’t want her son to suffer a similar fate as her, so she fakes illness and looks like she’s fainted just as the engagement is supposed to happen. This prevents the whole thing from taking place, only for Ji-Hyeok to realize in the car that she’s actually perfectly fine. Meanwhile, Ha-Yeong is unable to go through with her plans of jeopardizing the situation with a picture of Ji-Hyeok and Da-Rim. When they get to the hospital, Ji-Hyeok’s mother, In-Ae, is making full plans on getting property after the divorce; it’s like she’s a brand new person, and we’re down for it.
Back at work the next day, Ji-Hyeok treats Da-Rim like crap again because he’s frustrated that he’s still in love with her and that she lied to him. Moreover, he now knows the truth and even tells Ha-Yeong about it (though she’s already aware) and gets her to get engaged with him anyway just so the divorce goes smoothly. Ha-Yeong’s a cutie, so of course, she’ll help. But later in the day, things get bad, and Da-Rim can’t understand why Ji-Hyeok is being mean all of a sudden, so she asks him what’s going on. He tells her that he knows she’s single, so she should leave before he fires her. At the moment, she’s unable to give him an explanation because he just wants her gone.
However, later, knowing Da-Rim is finally doing something good for her mom, Da-Rim rushes to find Ji-Hyeok in the rain. Finally, she’s able to tell him the truth about the day she ran from him on the island all those months ago. Seeing as it’s about her mother and Da-Rim was genuinely desperate, Ji-Hyeok understands. Plus, he’s basically got a soft spot for her, so obviously, he’ll forgive her. However, this happens to be the same night Seon-U confesses to Da-Rim, and she’s obviously fully taken aback by this. Also, in the middle of all of this, Yu Tae-Young is still after Ji-Hye and convinces her that sending the pictures of Da-Rim and Ji-Hyeok would make things worse for her, not Ji-Hyeok (their father wants to make him vice president). But he’s willing to help to fix things.
Dynamite Kiss episode 9 ends with Da-Rim completely confused because Ji-Hyeok confesses to her yet again, telling her to stay with him because he knows he’s in love with her, all while Seon-U is hoping to take her out to dinner. Da-Rim makes the right choice and goes off by herself, but not before Ji-Hyeok kisses her to make her remember how good they are together.
What Happens Between Ji-Hyeok and Da-Rim’s Mums?
Episode 10 focuses on the friendship between the mothers, which makes Ji-Hyeok very happy. This is his secret trump card, and a lot of the episode is the 4 of them plus Seon-U and Jun having fun together at the Natural Bebe park that Ji-Hyeok’s mother set up. Da-Rim’s mother is obsessed with Seon-U, but Ji-Hyeok’s mom can tell how obsessed her son is with Da-Rim. Literally, almost the whole episode is focused on the rivalry between the two men. By the end of it, they become friendly again because they’re both good people, and maybe in another world might’ve even been friends. Also, I do think Seon-U and Ha-Yeong are great together. This is proven at the big event where Seon-U’s work is displayed, but Ji-Hyeok and Ha-Yeong are still pretending. Despite knowing the truth, Da-Rim does feel kind of bad about the situation, but currently she’s in the mood of keeping Ji-Hyeok at bay because she can’t understand why he likes her. Ji-Hyeok spends a lot of time telling her why he likes her, but she doesn’t seem to be convinced yet.
At the end of Dynamite Kiss episode 10, Ji-Hyeok walks away from everyone because a little girl spills something on him, and he needs to change. At this time, a man has come into the building to set it on fire and ruin everything. Obviously, this was Ji-Hye and Tae-Young’s doing, but Ji-Hyeok doesn’t know that, of course. He immediately starts fighting the man and gets hit on the head with a bottle, making him unconscious. The man sets the thing on fire and locks the door, breaking the knob while leaving Ji-Hyeok inside to die. But shockingly enough, Da-Rim rushes inside the building, manages to piggyback an unconscious Ji-Hyeok out of it, and wakes him up when they’re safe. In this moment, when he’s finally awake, Ji-Hyeok tells her that he loves her for no other reason but that she’s herself. Basically saying he doesn’t need a reason to be sure she’s the one for him. The episode ends with her finally admitting her feelings for him, too. With 4 episodes still remaining in the show, it’s possible we get some more complications because of Ji-Hye and Tae-Young. I wonder what it’ll take for her to realize that she and Ji-Hyeok can actually be friends, and it’s their dad that’s the real problem. I also don’t like the fact that Ji-Hyeok’s mom is basically fully against her stepdaughter when it’s no fault of her own. But of course, she’s kind of evil now, so that’s a different story altogether.
