As a person who is chronically online, I’ve realized I’m not the only one who was disappointed by the introduction of a dramatic moment like the end of episode 12 so late into the show after everything had finally started going perfectly well. We were all up in our feels and excited about the main pairing until those final moments in the previous episode. However, despite all that, I do think episode 13 managed to bring us at least a little bit back on track. So much so that I was wondering what would be left for the final episode, but then there it was. I really like that the episodes aren’t too long, that they don’t run for over an hour (like some weekend dramas I don’t want to name). This show was full of joy, and despite the dramatic twist of episode 12’s ending, I’m happy that this episode wasn’t just moping and sadness but actually good. With that said, though, I’m going to jump straight into everything that went down in episode 13 of Dynamite Kiss before the finale comes out tomorrow.
Spoiler Alert
Why Does Da-Rim Lie?
Episode 13 begins with Ji-Hyeok spending time with Da-Rim in her house again, because his mom is staying there. He finally tells her mother that he’s in love with her daughter and intends to marry her. She’s surprised and doesn’t seem to take it well, but his mother is overjoyed to hear this news. But, this is all before the disaster that happened with the new product line at Natural Bebe. After Da-Rim gets slapped in the face, Ji-Hyeok immediately defends her. But to make matters worse, Ji-Hye immediately tells their father that Ji-Hyeok is biased towards Da-Rim, because they’re clearly dating. I.e., Da-Rim used Ji-Hyeok to become a spy for their competitors.
Ji-Hyeok doesn’t seem to care about anything and immediately rushes to find Da-Rim, who’s getting investigated by an auditor. This auditor is genuinely a terrible person, but seeing as Da-Rim lied so she could join the company, and the emails came from her, it really looks like she’s guilty. However, she refuses to take the blame. But Ji-Hye asks to see Da-Rim once she’s alone. Ji-Hye plays the nice sister card and tells Da-Rim that she believes her, but she thinks Ji-Hyeok will have to face the consequences of this because, during the shareholder meeting, he’ll get kicked out, considering Da-Rim was on his team. Ji-Hye requests that Da-Rim take the fall so that this whole fiasco can be covered uphidden, and Ji-Hyeok’s job is safe. But we already know Ji-Hye is clearly lying.
What Does Seon-U Say?
On the other hand, Ha-Young’s mother visits Seon-U’s home in the middle of nowhere, because she sees her daughter sulking throughout the day. She worries there’s something wrong with her and realizes how much she likes Seon-U. But when she gets there and sees little Jun, she’s floored and wants to accept Seon-U and Jun into her family immediately. However, Seon-U is the one who says Ha-Young deserves someone who actually loves her deeply, and to this I agree. While I genuinely love the connection she has with Jun, we can’t ignore the fact that Seon-U has literally not shown any interest in her. He’s been so obsessed with Da-Rim for so long, he didn’t know how to move on. To be honest, I really don’t mind if Ha-Young finds someone else while studying abroad and forgets about Seon-U. But this is, of course, a K-drama, so there’s a chance she’ll still come back for him, and maybe he’ll realize how precious she really is.
How Will Ji-Hyeok and Da-Rim Get Back Together?
On the other hand, Da-Rim admits to being a spy, as she told Ji-Hye she would, and signs the papers without a word to Ji-Hyeok. Because, as if we don’t have enough misunderstandings between them, Ji-Hyeok, being the caring dude that he is, never gives up. When Da-Rim goes back home, she finally tells her mother what’s really gone down, and her mother apologizes for everything, promising to set things straight by selling the house. Not to mention, Tae-Young and Ji-Hye are in the final stages of ruining Ji-Hyeok’s life, so that’s something that’ll get addressed in the final episode for sure. For now, Da-Rim and her mother move to her aunt’s place so she can be rejuvenated.
On the other hand, Ji-Hyeok’s assistant finds a suspicious man at work, and he’s handing over a bag to someone. This someone looks like the same dude who set the building on fire when Ji-Hyeok caught him. So he’s definitely finding that connection with Ji-Hye soon. The rest of the episode is Ji-Hyeok visiting Da-Rim at her aunt’s place, and her uncle teasing her about a dude named Sang-Sik, which obviously makes Ji-Hyeok upset. But he also tells Da-Rim he’s found evidence that she’s not the one at fault, and he’s going to bring it up to the board. He even tries farming with them, but Sang-Sik shows up and shows off his skills, leaving him devastated. But ultimately, everyone knows who Da-Rim’s choice is.
In the ending of Dynamite Kiss episode 13, Ji-Hyeok interrupts a meeting where Ji-Hye is explaining to the whole board how Da-Rim was the one who was a spy. The image is on a huge screen, with a picture of her application where she lied. But Ji-Hyeok has evidence that’ll prove she did nothing wrong, well, apart from lying to get the job. Though I’m not sure how the legalities of such a job work. The final episode will see Da-Rim and Ji-Hyeok get back together, but only after a massive fight between the two siblings. It will obviously be a happy ending, but it’ll come right at the end because, after all, it is a K-drama. The show so far has given us a lot to enjoy, and I really hope it doesn’t take much in the last episode to give us something wholesome. Maybe a wedding too? That might be hoping for too much, but Ji-Hyeok did bring up marriage. Additionally, the stuff with his mother should be fixed soon enough, too, leaving them free birds.
