During the closing moments of Fallout Season 2, episode 7, we saw Maximus in that NCR power armor going to town on those Deathclaws and then getting thrown several feet into the air. In the meantime, Cooper made his way into the Lucky 38, got into House’s chambers, and started his computer system by installing the Cold Fusion diode into the slot that turned it into the power source. That was juxtaposed with a flashback sequence where Diane introduced Cooper to the President of the USA, and he gave away the Cold Fusion diode to one of the most powerful people in the world because he was convinced by Diane that he’d handle the prototype in a responsible fashion. Additionally, Lucy locked Hank in his chambers and broke into the mainframe, where she found Diane’s head, which was connected to that headset that House was seen wearing. Based on all these plot threads and the teaser that’s been released, what can we expect to see in episode 8, the finale, of Fallout Season 2? Well, allow me to speculate.
Spoiler Alert
Maximus Will Be Busy Fighting The Deathclaws
Maximus is probably going to spend most of the finale tackling all those Deathclaws. Their fight is going to go on for such a long time that the Freesiders are going to place bets on who’s going to win and who’s going to die. A promotional picture for the show has teased the fact that Maximus will have to abandon his NCR power armor and go up against the Deathclaw with a cue stick and a roulette wheel. Well, that doesn’t seem like a good idea at all, because those Deathclaws are pretty ferocious, and they don’t stop until the heart is ripped out of their chest or they are beheaded. I mean, it tanked those Gauss Rifle rounds, even though they were ripping off parts of its body, like it was nothing. So, what’s a stick and a round board going to do? I think Thaddeus is going to go for the sacrifice play in order to save Maximus, which’ll trigger the next step of his ghoul-ification process. There’s a good chance that he won’t turn into a ghoul, but some other type of creature entirely. In addition to all that, there’s a possibility that the survivors of the Brotherhood of Steel’s civil war must’ve been tracking the suit that Thaddeus was wearing. And they’ll eventually reach Freeside and kill the Deathclaws; not to save Maximus, though, but to give him the appropriate punishment.
Lucy Will Have A Conversation With Diane
Lucy has discovered the fact that the mainframe that’s running all the brain-computer interface devices on Hank’s slaves isn’t a program, but the head of Diane, which is connected to a headset that looks similar to the one that House was wearing when Cooper met him in the Lucky 38. Diane was in that car with Cooper and the President of the USA. She’s clearly not as innocent and bumbling as she seemed initially, and she meticulously worked her way into Cooper’s good books so as to convince him to give up the Cold Fusion diode to POTUS. But how did Diane go from there to a severed head that doubles as the mainframe of a vast system? I am sure she’ll explain all that to Lucy, and we’ll get to see her evolution via flashbacks. Whether or not that’ll prompt Lucy to destroy the mainframe is something that remains to be seen. Because it’s totally possible that there’s a digital copy of Diane that exists in the system that’ll keep running it even after the head is destroyed.
Cooper Will Have A Long Overdue Chat With House
So far, we know that at the end of Cooper and House’s last face-to-face conversation, House predicted that Cooper would be the one to drop the bomb. While Cooper didn’t literally set off the nukes, he had a pretty big hand in the destruction of the planet. I mean, he handed over the Cold Fusion diode to the worst person in the country, possibly the world, while telling himself that he had done the right thing. Cooper has been carrying that guilt all this while, and the only person who he feels that he can confess to is House, because he’s the one who accurately anticipated his role in this mess. Had he stayed there and listened to him, maybe the world wouldn’t have ended. In addition to that, I think Cooper will ask for House’s help to locate the Vault-Tec facility where his wife and child are being held hostage by Hank. Cooper has already brought the Cold Fusion diode to House. So, that should be considered payment by House. As for House’s “eventually, everyone works for me” line in the teaser, I think that’s a hint that Hank and even Diane have been doing his bidding all this while. Maybe he’s also saying that the President of the USA was dancing to his tune when he supposedly nuked the country. Whether or not we’ll learn how House became a face in the computer, after the nukes dropped, in the finale, is questionable because that’ll make the episode feel overstuffed. It’s possible that the writers are saving that for Season 3.
Norm Will Probably Be Killed
Norm was last seen trying to get in touch with Lucy and Hank and begging them to come and save him from the clutches of the Vault 31ers, and in the teaser we see him getting dragged away by his captors. We know that Lucy hasn’t heard Norm’s SOS message, but there’s a good chance that Hank has. And he might use that information as leverage to stop Lucy from destroying the mainframe. I mean, all he has to say is that he knows where Norm is, and that he is about to be killed, and Lucy will instantly cave, because she is a good person. Maybe she’ll tell herself that she’ll get only one chance to save Norm, but she’ll have multiple opportunities to destroy Vault-Tec. However, by the time she reaches Norm, it’s possible that he’ll already be dead, thereby making her decision to leave Hank and Diane to their devices seem worthless. That said, it’s quite possible that the Vault 31ers will just imprison Norm instead of killing him; they still have some inhibitions. Maybe they’ll let Norm go and he’ll reunite with his family and write the next chapters of his life with them. Alternatively, Ma June and Barv are going to slaughter the Vault 31ers and liberate Norm. And in case the old timers can’t be that brutal, maybe they’ll unleash radroaches that are locked in the basement of that building and they will get to Norm’s captors, while Norm will survive because he’ll be stashed somewhere that’s out of the reach of those creatures.
The Legion Civil War’s Survivors Will Rise
There’s a brief moment in the teaser for the finale of Fallout Season 2 where we see Macaulay Culkin’s Lacerta Legate standing in front of someone from the Legion. Maybe it’s one of the Caesars, and the two factions of the Legion are going to join hands and fight against their common enemy: Hank. I mean, it’s one thing for Cooper to start off the civil war, but it’s particularly slimy behavior for Hank to use that messy situation to enslave a bunch of Legionnaires. So, yeah, maybe the survivors will band together and take on Hank. Or maybe that’s just a flashback scene of Hank sending some of the brainwashed Legionnaires to bring the surviving members of the Legion to the facility so that the brain-computer interface can be installed on their necks.
Steph Will Reveal The Contents Of Hank’s Keepsake Box
In the teaser for Fallout Season 2, episode 8, we can see Steph finally getting to open Hank’s keepsake box. I’m sure she dreamt of doing so under better circumstances, and not while holing up in her chambers while the entirety of Vault 32 is banging on her door because they have learned that she’s a Canadian immigrant. But I wonder what good the contents of that keepsake box are going to do for her? Is there some kind of teleportation device in there that’s going to help her get out of that prison she’s currently in? I’m sure there isn’t. Is there something in that box that’ll help Steph disprove Chet’s allegations and prove to Vault 32 that she’s a legitimate member of Vault-Tec? That’s possible, because we know that Steph is actually as old as Hank, and they met each other after Cooper handed over a very drunk Hank to Steph back in the day. The Vault 32ers still think that Hank is a good guy. So, if there’s some statement in that box that essentially exonerates Steph, then Chet’s going to be in a world of trouble. Last but not least, maybe there’s some remote that’ll activate the prototype brain-computer interface devices that are in the bodies of all the Vault dwellers and wipe their memory of the revelation that Steph is a Canadian immigrant. I know this is a stretch, but what’s the harm in putting it out there? In addition to all that, there’s a good chance that there’s a vial of the FEV (Forced Evolutionary Virus) in Hank’s Keepsake box, which Steph will unleash upon the denizens of the Vault to get the better of them. Maybe she won’t, because it can backfire on her, but she might threaten to set it off in order to keep the Vault 32ers at bay.
Lucy Will Kill Hank For The Microchip
Much like the concluding moments of the first season, I think the finale of Fallout Season 2 will also prominently feature Cooper, Lucy, and Hank. Yeah, Cooper is going to reach the Vault-Tec facility that Lucy and Hank are in. He’ll ask Hank to free his wife and child. Hank will say that he’ll free Barb and Janey if Cooper becomes his slave. And, based on the teaser, it’s possible that Hank will ask Lucy to install the latest version of the brain-computer interface, which looks like a microchip now, in Cooper. Maybe Cooper will even give Lucy the green light to do so, and he’ll tell Lucy to take care of his wife and daughter. But Lucy will turn the whole situation on its head and kill Hank. I don’t know if that will solve any major problems, but at least the world will be rid of one of its most heinous, sweet-talking villains. Lucy has already understood that Hank is irredeemably bad, but Hank’s going to push her to do the “right thing” because he’s still under the impression that his daughter is incapable of doing something radical. But we know that Lucy has changed a lot since she first stepped out of that vault in Season 1, and Hank’s going to learn the same, albeit the hard way. Anyway, those are just my theories for the final episode of this season of the show.
