‘Fatal Seduction’ Season 2 Ending Explained & Series Recap: Who Murdered Busi?

Published

Netflix’s South African show Fatal Seduction is back with another season of deceit, danger, and deadly double-crosses. In the previous season, Vuyo framed Nandi for attempting to kill her husband, Leonard, and had her put behind bars. She was also accused of being involved in the murder of her best friend, Brenda, along with her lover, Jacob. Frustrated with her deceiving parents, Zinhle chose her uncle, Vuyo (who was actually her father), to spend a peaceful life with. But the ending of the first season hinted that trouble was far from over. Since Brenda was the only key witness in the Jiba case, it was assumed that the case would be reopened. But the victim’s father desperately wanted the case to remain closed. Vilakazi, the police minister, clearly had the motive to cover up his daughter’s murder, but what was he hiding? In season 2 of Fatal Seduction, we finally learn the truth behind Busi’s murder.

Spoiler Alert

Who Murdered Busi?

In Fatal Seduction season 2’s ending, Precious’ mother, Ivy, confessed what had truly happened to little Busi. Ivy and her husband worked for Vilakazi and his family. While Ivy cleaned and cooked, her husband was their driver. They often used to take their daughter, Precious, to the minister’s as well. But soon they got suspicious of Vilakazi. They wondered if the minister was getting physically intimate with Precious. She was only sixteen at the time, and Ivy kept a close watch to find out the truth. One day, Ivy saw Precious and Vilakazi coming out of the same room, and she informed her husband about it. He was furious, and instead of bringing Busi back home from school, he abducted her. He wanted Vilakazi to experience the same emotional turmoil that he did. But the kidnapping didn’t go as planned. After Busi’s body was discovered, Vilakazi lost his temper, and he ended up killing Ivy’s husband. Later, Precious revealed that when Busi was abducted, she tried to help her escape. Her father continued to follow them, so she and Busi had no choice but to hide from him. Precious had firmly covered Busi’s mouth to ensure that her father didn’t hear her whimper. But after her father was gone, Precious discovered that Busi had stopped breathing. Maybe she died of hunger or dehydration, or perhaps it was Precious’ tight grasp that made it impossible for her to breathe.

Precious blamed herself for Busi’s accidental death. Vilakazi didn’t know the entire truth, and he didn’t want the cops to investigate his driver, because he knew that if they did, they would discover that he was sleeping with a minor. So, he decided to deal with his daughter’s killer on his own, and to distract the cops, he framed Benjamin Jiba for Busi’s death. When Vilakazi’s wife, Delisiwe, heard Ivy’s recorded confession, she broke down. She was a God-fearing woman who never suspected her husband of cheating on her. She couldn’t believe that he had framed an innocent man to keep the world from discovering his vile secret. Delisiwe ended up shooting herself—she couldn’t live with the truth.

What happened to the minister and Precious?

Throughout Fatal Seduction season 2, Vilakazi did everything in his power to stop the truth from getting out. He was about to be elected as the deputy president, and he was determined not to let his past affect his present. From using Nandi to stop Vuyo from investigating the case and even making her steal whatever evidence Vuyo had gathered against him to patting Leonard on the back after he successfully murdered a journalist, Yusuf Fayad, who was about to expose the minister—Vilakazi didn’t care about the blood in his hands as long as he stayed in power.

Precious was the only person Vilakazi trusted with his secrets. Behind closed doors, they shared a dom-sub relationship, and Vilakazi had groomed Precious to cater to all his twisted kinks. Precious was grateful to Vilakazi, so she never complained. She despised her abusive father, and she was glad that Vilakazi had gotten rid of him. It was only after Precious fell in love with Jacob that she started to question her relationship with the minister. Jiba’s son, Jacob, continued to gather evidence to prove his father’s innocence to the world. He had been working closely with Vuyo and Yusuf Fayad to bring down the minister. Seducing Precious was part of his grand plan, though deep down he was still obsessed with Nandi. When the minister found out about Precious and Jacob’s affair, he showed her Jacob’s phone history to establish that he’d been conspiring against them. And while Precious was suspicious of Jacob at first, when he explained that Vuyo and Yusuf had contacted him but he had nothing to do with them, she believed him.

In Fatal Seduction season 2 finale, after Jacob abducted Delisiwe, Precious had assumed that the minister would come clean to the world. But he instead tried to use Nandi to stop Jacob. He’d asked Clinton, Zinhle’s new friend whom he’d manipulated into serving him, to bring Zinhle to his underground club. It was New Year’s Eve, so convincing Zinhle to attend an exclusive party wasn’t a task. After Delisiwe killed herself, Jacob and Nandi left to find Zinhle at the club. Vuyo had set a tracker on Zinhle, and that was how they’d found her location. When Nandi was searching for her daughter at the club, she ran into Precious. Precious was under the assumption that Jacob had shot Delisiwe, but Nandi explained that the minister’s wife had killed herself after finding out about her husband’s dirty secret. Precious felt a rush of guilt; she admired Delisiwe, and she had no intention of hurting her. Nandi begged her to end the madness and to tell her where they were hiding Zinhle. Precious didn’t want to believe a word that Nandi had said. Before Nandi was dragged out of the washroom by the guards, she showed sympathy towards Precious and reminded her that she was just sixteen when Vilakazi got physically intimate with her and it was a sickening thing to do to a child. Precious started to seriously second-guess the minister’s intentions. After Busi’s death, Precious lived with constant guilt, and she thought that the minister was her only safe place. But she’d come to realize that the minister had trapped her; she was not allowed to do what her heart desired, and complete freedom was a distant dream for her.

During the ending of Fatal Seduction season 2, Precious confronted Vilakazi; she bluntly told the minister that his wife would have been alive if he’d held the press conference and admitted the truth. The minister didn’t regret his actions; he was of the opinion that he should’ve tied the loose ends better (implying that he should’ve gotten rid of all his enemies, especially Precious’ mother). Vilakazi hadn’t lost hope; he believed that he could still get rid of all the thorns in his path, and all he needed was Precious’ support. Precious asked him if he ever regretted sleeping with a sixteen-year-old, to which Vilakazi promptly replied that she was not a naive child; she knew that she wanted a better life, and he gave her one. When Vilakazi told her that he loved her, Precious responded that she used to think she felt the same way, but she’d come to realize that she simply felt guilty. All these years, she’d been trying to make up for what had happened to Busi, and Precious finally admitted that she was responsible for Busi’s death, or at least she blamed herself for it. She started to choke the minister, but he managed to free himself and pushed her aside.

Vilakazi kicked Precious and pinned her to the floor. Nandi entered the minister’s room at the right time, and she broke a glass bottle on his head. Nandi demanded to know where her daughter was, and when the minister tried to attack her, she stabbed him with the broken piece of the glass bottle. The minister bled to death, and later Nandi found her daughter in a private room at the club. She had overdosed on the heroin that the minister had given to Clinton, but thankfully they found her at the time, and Zinhle was saved. Precious was the primary suspect in Vilakazi’s murder, so she was arrested. She cooperated with the cops and shared with them a detailed account of her relationship with the minister.

What charges did Vuyo face?

After Nandi and Jacob left the spot where Jacob had held Delisiwe hostage, Leonard and Vuyo got into a heated argument. Leonard wanted Vuyo to hand him the recording of Ivy’s confession. Leonard had agreed to the minister’s deal to close Busi’s murder case. So, naturally, he too was responsible for framing Benjamin Jiba, and if the truth surfaced, Leonard knew he would face charges as well. When Vuyo refused to hand it to him, he shot his brother again and snatched the recording from him. Leonard lacked empathy. He was so desperate to protect the illusion of a perfect family that he didn’t regret attempting to kill his own brother. But as luck would have it, Vuyo survived. The bible he was carrying absorbed the bullet, and it was clearly a divine intervention.

Even though Vuyo survived, he ended up behind bars. Nandi didn’t forget the humiliation and suffering she was subjected to when she was sent to prison for a crime she hadn’t even committed. Vuyo had framed her just because he wanted to punish her. Since he didn’t show mercy at the time, she planned her revenge accordingly. Nandi conspired with Precious and got access to evidence to frame Vuyo for Yusuf Fayad’s murder. Surveillance footage showed Vuyo breaking into Yusuf’s apartment the morning after he was murdered, and his fingerprint was found all over the journalist’s property. Even though it looked like Nandi had stabbed the minister and she was the one who had killed him, when she spoke to Vuyo, she stated Precious did her part by killing Vilakazi. Does that mean Vilakazi was alive even after Nandi stabbed him? And Precious was the one who’d killed him in the end? Or, did Precious intentionally keep Nandi’s name out of the murder case because she was grateful to her—Nandi had saved her life and helped her realize that the minister was a monster. The latter seems quite likely.

Nandi was inspired by Precious, and she’d decided to get rid of the monsters in her life as well. Vuyo was on top of her list, and he was about to spend the rest of his life in prison. Considering how easily people get in and out of prison in the show, who knows if Vuyo too will find a way out and attempt to destroy Nandi’s life once again (maybe another season for this? But it will be way too repetitive if the show decides to make a return).

Did Nandi and Jacob get back together?

In Fatal Seduction season 2’s ending, Nandi asked Leonard for a divorce. She had the documents ready, and all she needed was his signature. Nandi asked Leonard what he’d done with Ivy’s recordings (Ivy had refused to confess to the cops after the minister’s murder), and he calmly stated that she understood that whatever Leonard did was for his family. Suggesting that Leonard had possibly met Ivy and convinced her to maintain silence (maybe in exchange for money). Nandi ordered Leonard to resign as a judge because he was incapable of upholding the law. Leonard was not ready to do it, so Nandi wryly hinted that she knew Leonard had murdered Yusuf Fayad and Precious had evidence to prove him guilty and put him behind bars. Leonard signed the divorce papers without a word; he knew Nandi was in charge, and he had no choice but to obey.

After dealing with the brothers, Nandi met Jacob, the man she often had erotic fantasies of. There were days when Nandi thought Jacob was the bad guy, but she ultimately realized that his heart had always been in the right place. He wanted to bring justice to his father, though at times he used questionable means to do so. In Fatal Seduction every character is flawed to the core, and Jacob is no different. Nonetheless, Nandi was still attracted to him, and she decided to spend one last memorable night with him. She knew that her daughter would never accept her if she chose Jacob, so she had to end their relationship even though she cared deeply for him. Jacob was heartbroken and frustrated when he read Nandi’s letter after she left. But I guess deep down he was well aware that his relationship with Nandi was quite impossible given his history with Zinhle. Maybe the lovers will hold onto their fond memory of each other until they find the courage to move on.

Meanwhile, Precious was released from prison, and it was evident that Nandi helped her. At the very beginning of season 2, when Nandi was in prison, Vuyo recorded the prosecutor in a compromising position to release her (not that he cared about Nandi but because Zinhle had met with an accident and she wanted to see her mother and no one else; he basically didn’t have a choice but to help Nandi). Precious used photographs from the same explicit video of the prosecutor to blackmail her, and the charges against her were ultimately dropped. This was the first time in Precious’ life that she was allowed to do what her heart desired, and there was no man to stop her. Hopefully, she’ll make smart choices instead of getting back in the business of deceit, lies, and revenge. She’ll possibly hold a grudge against Jacob for lying to her, but we can hope that she’ll not do something stupid to end up in prison again.

Will Nandi finally get to live in peace?

At the end of the day, Nandi chose herself and her daughter. She was done with the men in her life, and she realized that as long as she entertained them, she would never manage to live her life in peace. Nandi and Zinhle will have to start over again, and this time they must be honest with each other. Considering everything Zinhle had also been through, hopefully Nandi will help her heal, and together they will build a life of happiness and peace, rooted in gratitude and growth.

Fatal Seduction season 2’s ending hints at the fact that Zinhle had learned to lie with a straight face, and it could have serious repercussions for her. She desperately wanted her girlfriend, Laura, to accept her, so she lied about not sleeping with Clinton. This suggests that she’d developed a tendency to lie to get away with anything instead of being honest and accepting her mistakes. Nandi has a lot to figure out as a parent, and hopefully she’ll manage to be Zinhle’s safe space. Since Nandi too had been clearly obsessed with Jacob, she too will need time to move on. Leonard was clearly devastated after his wife and daughter walked away. It was time for him to reflect on every mistake he’d made, and he had far too many on the list! Here’s hoping Leonard will not turn into a stalker and will let Nandi live her life in peace. I won’t say season 2 ended on a happy note, but it definitely marked a new beginning for all the characters. So, will the series return with a third season? While the case is solved, there is always some scope for an upcoming season—Vuyo and Leonard despise Nandi, and it’ll be no surprise if they find new ways to ruin her life. Nandi’s prison girlfriend can also make a return and turn Nandi’s life chaotic. Precious definitely holds a grudge against Jacob, and she might try to find ways to get back at him. There are too many characters with ill motives, so a peaceful life might just be a little far-fetched.
