Gangs of Galicia, directed by Roger Gual and Javier Rodrigues, takes us to the badlands of Cambados, where we learn about the cat-and-mouse chase between the law enforcement authorities and the Padin gang. Ana, a lawyer by profession, finds herself amidst the chaos after her father is murdered, and she believes that Padin gang members had something to do with it. So, let’s find out how things ended in Gangs of Galicia season 1—if Ana was able to find the murderer of her father and if the law enforcement authorities were able to put the perpetrators behind bars.
Spoiler Alert
How was Daniel’s drug deal busted?
Detective Naranjo and Torres were after Padin’s gang for a long period of time, but whenever they got close to catching them, something or another happened, and they just couldn’t succeed. Naranjo knew that there was a huge shipment of drugs coming into the city, and he knew that somehow he would have to catch it to put the perpetrators behind bars. At the beginning of Gangs of Galicia, Naranjo noticed Ana coming quite close to Daniel, and so he decided to take the former secretary into confidence. Naranjo met Rosa and asked her to be on the right side of things. He told her to plant a recording device in the office of her boss, and Rosa did so. But that plan didn’t work out, as Rosa informed Ana about whatever Naranjo asked her to do. Poor Rosa felt threatened, and she didn’t want to indulge in the situation in any way. She knew how dangerous Daniel’s family was, and she didn’t want to do anything to irk them. So, with Rosa out of the loop, Naranjo started looking for someone else on the inside to give him information. That’s when he met Laura, who, at that point in time, was grieving the loss of her daughter Maria.
There was a fire raging inside Laura, and she wanted to avenge the death of her daughter. Laura took Marco in confidence, and she influenced him to go against his family and take revenge on them for the death of his girlfriend. Laura probably knew that she was not doing the right thing, as things would not turn out well for Marco if his family learned that he was betraying them. But Laura didn’t care about the consequences of her actions, so she went ahead with it. After Marco became the mole, the odds shifted in favor of the law enforcement authorities. Marco asked Daniel to let him be a part of the gang, and though the latter didn’t want him to spoil his career and live a risky life like theirs, he eventually conceded. Marco and Daniel were in the latter’s warehouse, where Daniel was sending messages to the people who were going to make the deal. Marco was able to send his location, and that’s when the detective conducted a raid and arrested Daniel.
Who killed Ana’s father?
Ana always believed that it was Jose Padin who murdered her father, but it was not so. Things were far more complicated than she believed them to be. Firstly, Ana got to know that her father, Jorge Gonzalez, aka Jose Silva, was the right-hand man of Jose Padin. Silva was one of the people on whom Padin trusted more than anybody else. The police wanted to create a rift between them and so they told Silva that his partner, Berta Figaredo was having an affair with Padin and that he was the biological father of Laura. Now Silva maybe was an insecure man and without asking his partner he presumed that whatever the police told him was right, once he saw Padin going into his house in his absence.
Silva felt betrayed, and that’s when he decided to become the state witness. His testimony led to the arrest of Padin, and from that day on, both of them became staunch enemies. Now, I believe that the entire theory of Berta Figaredo having an affair with Padin could’ve been fabricated by police officials. Yes, it is true that Silva saw Padin entering his house, but that could be a coincidence, and the former didn’t have any solid evidence to back his claims. But nonetheless, the damage was done, and Padin was put behind bars. Ana came to know that it was not Padin but Daniel who was after her father’s life. Daniel was just a kid when his father was sent behind bars. He wanted to take revenge on the man who destroyed his life. He had probably made plans to go and kill Silva, but before that could happen, Padin sent the Colombians and got Silva killed on his boat. Padin probably did that because he didn’t want his son to land in trouble.
Even though Daniel hated the man, I believe that if he had the gun in his hand, he wouldn’t have been able to pull the trigger. Daniel would have forgiven the man because he was that kind of person. Daniel had a good heart; probably, that’s when he wanted to get out of his father’s shadow.
What will happen to Marco?
In Gangs of Galicia‘s ending, Marco leaked information about their location, due to which the police were finally able to catch Daniel. When Ana went to meet Daniel, he told her that he knew that she wasn’t the one who snitched on him. In fact, Ana messaged Daniel from her side after she got to know that there was a mole on his team. Three months had passed since his arrest when Daniel met Ana, and the series leaves it unclear if he actually knew who the mole was or not. Now, even if he knew, I don’t think Daniel was ever going to go against his godson. Well, probably there will be others like the Colombian gang and Jose Padin who could come after his life, but Daniel, I believe, will understand and empathize with the boy’s predicament. I believe that Daniel will give Marco the benefit of the doubt, though the boy’s life is still not going to be easy, as by snitching on the most dangerous gang, he has made a lot of enemies.
Will Ana and Daniel reunite in the future?
At the end of the gangs in Galicia, we saw that there was still a lot of love between Ana and Daniel. Ana went to see Daniel, and she told him that she was pregnant with his baby. Daniel was overjoyed, but the first thing that came to his mind was if Ana hated him, as she knew that he was the one who wanted to kill her father. After Daniel told her exactly what he felt at that moment and why he wanted to kill her father, Ana somehow sympathized with his situation. She knew that he was also a victim of his own circumstances. Moreover, Ana also believed that if Daniel had been standing in front of her father that day, he probably wouldn’t have pulled the trigger.
It is possible that if there is a Gangs of Galicia season 2, we might see Daniel coming out of prison and trying to build a family with the love of his life. The charges that were put on Daniel were quite serious, and even if he had an exceptional lawyer by his side, it was going to be a difficult task to ask for bail from the court of law. It is possible that Ana herself will handle Daniel’s case. The Colombians and Jose Padin are still out there, and they could pose a threat to Ana’s life. Jose knew who Ana was after his attorney told him that she was Silva’s daughter. So it is quite possible that Jose will come to confront Ana, but things will change once he gets to know that she is carrying his grandchild. One thing is for sure: Ana is not going to give up on Daniel no matter what, and she is going to make sure that he leaves his past behind and gets an opportunity to start afresh.
