Spoiler Alert
Who is Georgia Miller?
Ginny & Georgia begins with a new family rolling up to the rather ordinary, but socially and financially well-to-do, town of Wellsbury, in New England, after having bought a house in one of its peaceful neighborhoods. Georgia Miller, a single mother to her teenage daughter, Virginia, and young son, Austin, moves to the town for a change in scenery and a fresh start after her husband, Kenny, passed away from a sudden heart attack. Virginia, who prefers to be called Ginny, is absolutely livid at this change, for she is fed up with moving towns every time her mother decides that she needs a change of scenery, because of which she finds it extremely difficult to make friends and have a life of her own. Ginny believes that she knows quite a lot about her mother’s life, which was apparently quite ordinary except for the fact that she had her daughter at the very young age of 15, but there are far too many secrets that gradually come out of the closet over the course of 2 seasons.
Georgia Miller, originally named Mary Rose Reilly, had a loving bond with her father as a young girl, but it unfortunately lasted only till she was about 6, as the man was arrested and imprisoned on charges of murder, and this was when her life turned upside down. Her mother remarried, and the girl had to face extreme sexual assault at the hands of her stepfather on a regular basis, while her indifferent mother simply slept away in the next room. Tired of this horrific life and desperate to escape at all costs, Mary ran away from home and changed her name to Georgia soon after, taking inspiration from a signboard, and she was helped by a group of bikers at this time, called the Blood Eyes. As Georgia eventually joined the Blood Eyes, she became close to one of its members, Zion, and eventually fell in love with the boy, who was about the same age as her.
Much to her surprise, Georgia found out soon afterwards, when she was merely 15, that she was pregnant with Zion’s child, and this was when her life changed for a second time. She was introduced to her boyfriend’s rich parents, who were ready to forgive their mistake, but only on one condition—that they take up the responsibility of the teenage couple’s daughter, Virginia, while Georgia and Zion continue with their education and make something of their lives. However, Georgia could never give up her daughter, and so she ran once again, landing up in New Orleans this time. Here, she got involved with an illegal poker den and was imprisoned for her crimes, because of which young Ginny had to be placed in foster care. Once she was out, Georgia desired only to reunite with her daughter, and in order to prove to the law that she now had a stable life, she decided to marry her boss, Anthony, despite him being an unreasonably controlling man. This relationship did not last long either, as Anthony suddenly went missing, at least according to the official details, forcing Georgia and her daughter to move.
Although she returned to Zion, and he was as welcoming and loving as ever, Georgia had to take the difficult (or extremely immature, depending on who you’re asking) step of breaking up with him after realizing that Zion was having to work a job he never wanted only to provide for his family. Thus, she moved to Texas and found a new lover in Gil Timmins. Here, she faced torture and abuse once more, as the seemingly harmless young man turned out to be a manipulative fraudster, who did not hesitate to physically assault his girlfriend. Despite these hardships, Georgia ended up conceiving for a second time and gave birth to a baby boy, whom she named Austin, after the city they lived in at the time. But she refused to fall prey to an abusive man once again, and so she and her children were on the move as soon as Gil was arrested on charges of embezzlement.
Next, she met a wealthy man named Kenny Drexel at Fort Worth, in Texas, and decided to marry him and settle down once and for all. However, that plan did not work out either, as Kenny eventually died from a car crash when he suffered a sudden heart attack while driving. Georgia was left a widow, but a rather rich one, as Kenny’s yoga studio business had been booming, and this was when the woman decided to move to Wellsbury, along with her two children. Incidentally, her choice of Wellsbury was based on a strange encounter she had had way back during her teenage years, when a young boy from Wellsbury High School had kindly offered her his sandwich and a pair of expensive sunglasses. This had left a strong impression on Georgia, and she seemingly wanted to reconnect with this young boy, named Joe, who currently runs a successful café in town. Had Georgia’s life not taken a certain shape, she might have even romantically pursued the kind-hearted Joe, but that was never to be.
Why had Georgia resorted to a life of crime?
Unfortunately for Georgia, her unstable life meant that she was also subjected to a lot of violence, and therefore it was no wonder that she had turned to illegal activities to pave her way forward. After running away from home and finding support from the Blood Eyes gang, she had returned to exact revenge on her vile stepfather, and it was only because of Zion’s restraint that she got away after only shooting her abuser in the hand and not killing him. Once she had to find her own means of livelihood, with her baby daughter now dependent on her, Georgia willingly got involved in the casino den and then married her boss, but she also hated the control he tried to impose on her. It was then that she committed her first serious crime, when she tried to drug Anthony and knock him out.
Since the man refused to let her leave home, this was the only way, according to Georgia’s helpless, uneducated, and immature mind, to get him unconscious and give herself some breathing room. However, she messed up the dosage and ended up killing the man, and she had to seek help from the Blood Eyes in getting rid of the body. This was why Anthony Green was officially declared missing, for his body was never found. Perhaps because of her own desire to get rich easily and quickly, both for herself and also to provide for her children, Georgia almost naturally attracted dangerous men for a number of years from then on.
When she met Gil and fell in love with him, she was impressed by the amount of money the young man was earning and also how he was buying her and Ginny expensive gifts regularly. She was not surprised or alarmed upon learning that her boyfriend was siphoning funds from his office, as he was in charge of the finances, but she later used this knowledge to get rid of him. Georgia herself stole money from Gil’s office funds by transferring the amounts to Ginny and Austin’s accounts, and made it look like Gil was responsible for the whole matter. This led to his incarceration, meaning that Georgia was free to move once again, and also had access to significant funds, which she spent with credit cards in her children’s names.
Next up, she found love in the rich Kenny Drexel, although the Netflix series makes it quite obvious that she married the man only seeking financial and social stability. However, when she found out that Kenny was sexually assaulting the teenage Ginny, Georgia did not hesitate to take action. It is because of her violent and criminal tendencies that she decided to kill the man instead of just leaving him, as she wanted to punish him and also ensure that she would get all of his wealth. Although Georgia keeps claiming that her actions are justified because of the fact that she did everything to protect her children and provide for them, her extremely criminal and manipulative nature cannot also be disregarded. The woman is a vicious survivor, to say the least, and her experiences since childhood have taught her to be the way she is.
Does Georgia get married to Paul?
The biggest development in Georgia’s personal life throughout Ginny & Georgia seasons 1 and 2 is her romance with Paul Randolph, the mayor of Wellsbury. Although Paul is the town’s most eligible bachelor, meaning that he is constantly wooed by women, he remains aloof about love and having his own family until he meets the Millers. While he is definitely mesmerized by Georgia’s beauty and then her resourcefulness, Paul also quickly develops a bond with Ginny and Austin, which convinces him to enter a relationship with Georgia. This romantic bond is of great use to the woman, for she will be able to steal money from the town fund, and so marrying him would be even more profitable, since Paul hails from a rich, high-society New England family.
It is not like Georgia wants to marry only for the money, like in her previous relationships, she genuinely loves Paul and sees the good-natured human in him. This is why she comes clean about her past to him, except for the murders, of course, and also seeks help from him in the later half of season 2. Gil Timmins shows up at Wellsbury after he is released from prison, and he begins blackmailing Georgia by threatening to reveal the secrets about her embezzlement and financial fraud otherwise. The villainous ex-husband is rather happy that Georgia is about to marry someone as wealthy and influential as Paul, and so he basically wants her to squeeze her fiancé for money and pay him hush money.
However, when Georgia tells Paul about all this, he displays his extreme love and respect for her by supporting her and threatening to take legal action against Gil, which is enough to make the ex-husband tuck tail and run. Despite his parents’ initial reservations, because Georgia is neither educated nor does she hail from a respectable family, Paul decides to marry Georgia, and the wedding finally takes place at the end of Ginny & Georgia season 2.
Did Gabriel find incriminating evidence against Georgia?
Gabriel Cordova, the personal investigator, tries to find serious evidence, or even a clue, against Georgia from the time that she arrives at Wellsbury. Gabriel is appointed by the vengeful ex-wife of Kenny Drexel, who wants to sue Georgia solely because she wants part, or all, of the inheritance. Therefore, Gabriel’s first mission is to find any new information about Kenny’s sudden death, and he does learn that the man led a very healthy life and had only recently had health checkups done. Had there been anything wrong with his heart, it would have shown up in the test reports. This gives him the first reason for suspicion, and when he finds out that Georgia had been represented by the same lawyer who worked for the Blood Eyes gang, he starts coming up with a theory about what had happened.
Gabriel’s suspicions are raised even more when he sees photos of Georgia with wolfsbane, a plant that she seems to carry with her wherever she goes. In order to prove this theory of his, the detective arranges for official permission to exhume Kenny’s body for an examination, but Georgia gets wind of this and makes the first move. She gets in touch with her lawyer and ensures that the dead body is dug up and removed from the grave before the authorities can get to it. Therefore, he has to carry on his investigation further, which reveals how Georgia had been married to Anthony Green as well, which the world does not know about, and so he tries to find out what had happened to the man.
Unfortunately for Gabriel, his investigation and also his attempts to find any incriminating evidence against Georgia fail, and he is definitely not able to convince Ginny to turn against her mother. But he gets to have the last laugh when he hears of the death of Tom Fuller, and learns that Georgia had been present at the house when it had happened. It was indeed Georgia who had killed the vegetative Tom, but she had done so only to relieve his wife, Cynthia, of the pain of not being able to move on from him. However, Gabriel makes this connection and leaves a tip with the police, which eventually results in Georgia getting arrested on the very day of her marriage, and she is picked up from the town office right away.
What to expect from season 3?
Ginny & Georgia season 2 intentionally leaves it unclear how the police find serious evidence against Georgia, but it is most possibly because of another act of betrayal by Cynthia. Although Cynthia had seemingly decided to support Georgia by stating that she had barred Gil from moving into any of the houses in the locality, she seems to have made one more switch of sides in the end. We can expect to see more discussion on this matter in season 3, and if Cynthia is really involved, then she will possibly take a completely villainous turn now. Based on the trailer for the new season, one of the most important matters in this regard will be Georgia’s trial, and whether she is sent to prison once again will be interesting to watch. While she is initially set free, with a pesky ankle monitor to deal with, the woman might be given a life imprisonment sentence as well.
On the other side, the romantic drama element in the series will continue with Ginny’s character, following her unexpected breakup with Marcus. Despite both teenagers genuinely loving each other, Marcus decides to pull the plug on their relationship because of his own struggles with depression and also because he considers himself unhealthy for Ginny. The trailer for season 3 suggests that there will possibly be a new love interest for the teenager, although her chemistry with Marcus will remain intact and probably develop as well. Ginny will also have to deal with more complications with regard to her unusual family, and overall, Ginny & Georgia season 3 will be a long-awaited treat for loyal fans of the series.
