‘Ginny & Georgia’ Season 3 Recap (Episodes 1-10): Did Ginny And Marcus End Up Together?

Published

Ginny & Georgia, the teen comedy drama show on Netflix, is back with its third season, where we once again follow the dramatic and controversial events from the lives of mother-daughter duo, Georgia and Ginny Miller. The woman, who had had to go through the toll of becoming a mother at the mere age of 15, is now currently under immense trouble from the law after she was picked up by the police on the very day of her wedding. The allegation against her is of having murdered Tom Fuller, the terminally ill husband of her friend-turned-enemy, Cynthia, because the entire town of Wellsbury knows about their animosity, and also because Georgia had been the only outsider present at the house at the time. With a criminal trial ongoing against her mother, Ginny also has a tough time dealing with her own problems and fears.

Spoiler Alert

What is season 3 about?

Ginny & Georgia season 3 picks up right where season 2 had ended, as Georgia Miller is put behind the bars as the lead suspect in the alleged murder of Tom Fuller, arrested right from the venue of her wedding with Mayor Paul Randolph. Ginny and Austin are traumatized as they rush back home, especially the younger boy, as he had indeed witnessed his mother kill Tom while he hid in one of the closets, and so he feels that he is to be blamed for the police barging into the place. While Ginny keeps him company and gives him all the emotional support to keep the boy calm, Paul arranges for lawyers to deal with the situation at hand, and soon Josh Finn, a veteran defense attorney, visits Georgia in prison. She fears that the court might punish her with a life imprisonment sentence, which would mean that she will be separated from her children, which is much more of a concern for Georgia than the hardships that she will have to face in jail.

Finn is sure that he will be able to arrange something for his client, though, and when the date for the arraignment arrives, Georgia is indeed granted bail, although arguably because of the effort that she puts in. Having run a thorough background check on the judge, she had learnt that his wife is an important member of one of the many women’s clubs in the town, and his grandson happens to go to school with Ginny. In her usual shrewd manner, Georgia makes use of all this information to impress the elderly judge and ensure that she is released on bail, although she still needs to wear an ankle monitor and remain under house arrest. She is obviously glad to have been released from prison, but Georgia quickly realizes that she still has to live under a lot of restrictions. The ankle monitor not only ensures that she stays inside the house at all times, but it also needs to be charged every day for quite a long time, which means that she has to stay restricted to one spot in the house during this time.

Meanwhile, Ginny and Austin have to face harassment and discomfort from their respective set of peers because of this development, and the feeling of guilt for their mother’s actions definitely starts to set in. The family, which now obviously includes Paul, starts to accept their situation and deal with it, when Georgia’s life is rocked by the testimony of PI Gabriel Cordova during the first trial hearing. Cordova reveals to the world how there are multiple prior allegations of murder and fraud against Georgia Miller, and terms her a serial killer, which immediately grabs the attention of the press all over the county.

How does Ginny avoid making the same mistake as her mother?

The most significant development in Ginny & Georgia season 3, other than Georgia’s court case, of course, is when Ginny makes a shocking discovery about herself. After having recently had sex with her new friend and romantic interest, Wolfe, Ginny met with her group of friends when Norah opened up about how she was having irregular periods and feared that she might be pregnant. While the group of friends decided to take pregnancy tests together, as a sign of solidarity to make Norah less nervous, the result shocked Ginny, as she found out that she herself was pregnant. Without revealing this to her friends, she kept looking for an opportunity to share the news with her mother, the only person she trusted to help her out.

However, doing this was not easy, because the Child Protective Services officer was always present during their interactions, since that was the law, and Ginny was obviously scared of being judged and the news of her pregnancy having a negative impact on her mother’s image. When she finally manages to sneak into the house alone and tell Georgia about her pregnancy, the woman is equally enraged and saddened, for she does not want her daughter to go through the same troubles that she had once had to. It is Georgia who is in much more of a fix, as she cannot decide what advice to give to her daughter, and so she ultimately chooses to let Ginny herself take the decision.

On the one hand, Georgia warns Ginny about the extreme difficulties that a teenager with a child has to face, physically, mentally, and socially as well, since she herself had experienced all of it firsthand. In many ways, at least according to Georgia, it was only because she had become pregnant at the age of 15 that her life had taken specific turns, which had forced her into resorting to violent and illegal ways. Therefore, her current tribulations can also be attributed to her having become a mother as a teenager. However, she cannot also explicitly tell Ginny to abort the baby since the choice she had made had also given her what she valued most in life—her two children. Georgia mentions that she does not regret her decision for having kept the baby, since she would have been incomplete without Ginny, and then Austin, whom she had also conceived at a relatively young age.

Since the decision is left up Ginny, she chooses to abort the baby, and her maturity has to be undoubtedly appreciated. In the depths of her conscience, Ginny also believes that her mother had to be a certain way as a 15-year-old, in order to provide for her baby. There is no doubt in her mind that although her mother does genuinely love and care for her, her presence had definitely made things difficult for Georgia, and she does not want to make the same mistake. Therefore, Ginny chooses to get an abortion, and there is no regret regarding the matter later on either.

Why does Georgia spin her web of lies once again?

Despite all the struggles in her life at present, all because of some very poor choices and judgments, Georgia does not change her ways, at least in some aspects. She is still a woman who is desperately searching for social acceptance and trying to place herself in a safe and prominent position in society so that her credibility can never be questioned anymore. Deep down, she is a survivor who would do just about anything to have a settled life, and more importantly, to ensure that her children get to have a normal life with no financial or social tensions. While she had already arranged for the finances by intelligently sabotaging Kenny Drexel’s will and then killing him to get hold of all his wealth, the circumstances had obviously led her to move away and start a new life at Wellsbury.

Falling in love and then marrying the mayor of the town had almost entirely brought her plan to completion, but the arrest ruined everything for her, and it also eventually showed Paul’s true character. Despite what some of the characters claim, Georgia seems to have genuinely loved Paul and she had seriously decided to mend her ways and finally live a normal life with him. However, the change in the scenario revealed that Paul did not love her as truthfully as he had claimed, for he no longer wanted to be with her, for the sake of protecting his own image. This incident changed Georgia’s mind as well, as she once again resorted to her nasty tricks and set up her web of lies to find a way to protect herself.

Georgia always knew that having Paul by her side would make things much easier, especially after she is arrested and put on trial for the murder of Tom Fuller. This is also why Paul had decided to part ways with her, for he knew that his presence in the courtroom would influence the verdict in some way, and that would definitely be talked about by the press and the public. Therefore, when he does move away from, and also considers divorcing her, Georgia decides to treat him like some of her previous lovers—just as a tool for her to use in order to benefit her situation. Thus, she makes use of Ginny’s positive pregnancy test result to lie to Paul about her being pregnant with his child. It is probably in order to make use of the object that Georgia had made Ginny take the test at home once again, despite the girl having tested multiple times before.

Unfortunately for her, Paul cannot be fooled by this trickery, as he is himself quite intelligent, and so he makes the connection when Zion tells him about the difficult time that Ginny had recently had to go through. Incidentally, Georgia actively makes an effort to not resort to lying with her new love interest, Joe, although it is up for debate whether we can call him so, since they do not get together by the end of the season. She confesses all her crimes to Joe and admits that she does not want to keep anything secret from him. Ironically, Georgia seems to get caught in her own lie about being pregnant at the end of the series, as she is seemingly now pregnant with either Joe, or Paul’s child.

Does Ginny forgive Wolfe by the end?

Wolfe is a rather unusual character who is often erratic and unpredictable, and outright inappropriate at certain instances. This is exactly why Ginny is attracted to him, and feels safe around him, because Wolfe is absolutely unbothered by almost everything around him. He wonders if Ginny knows the daughter of the ‘Mayoress Murderess,’ since they both go to the same school, as he does not know that his new friend is the very girl he is talking about. Then when he finds out about Ginny’s real identity, Wolfe is once again quite unbothered, as he seemingly does not ever judge anyone based on anything, and simply goes with the flow in every situation.

However, this rare ability to be detached also becomes quite a problem for Ginny, when she finds out that she is pregnant after her romance with Wolfe, and tells him about the same. Wolfe is so flustered, confused and shaken that his act of being suave and unbothered immediately breaks, as he can only apologize to Ginny and make a strange and unexpected remark by calling the situation ‘wild’. This is not helpful for Ginny at all, as she herself has to go through all the troubles of abortion. However, at the end of Ginny & Georgia season 3, Wolfe comes to Ginny’s school during her felicitation ceremony for having won a prestigious poetry award. In his usual manner, Wolfe apologizes to Ginny for his awkward and horrible reaction, and for not being around her during the difficult time. But he also states that he wants to be friends with her, and Ginny does forgive him as well. Despite having been abandoned by the boy, Ginny never felt too harshly against him, because she had never developed any honest feelings for him. Whatever happened between them was mostly because of physical and hormonal needs, and so Ginny does not find it difficult to forgive the boy in the end, meaning that Wolfe will definitely stick around as a character in the seasons to come.

Did Ginny And Marcus End Up Together?

Ginny and Marcus’ tight bond only gets even stronger in Ginny & Georgia season 3, as Marcus genuinely sticks by Ginny’s side at the most difficult of times, and he also comforts Georgia with his words on more than one occasion. The level-headedness and maturity of the boy is on full display this season, although he is unable to help his own situation. This is why he once again decides to keep away from Ginny, although they do kiss and get close to each other multiple times. Ginny also confesses that she still loves Marcus, and her efforts towards the end to do something about his alcoholism make it seem like the youngsters will finally become a couple again.

However, Marcus’ situation only worsens after his parents ground him for failing the year, and he drinks so irresponsibly that it leads to a heartbreaking emotional breakdown right in front of his parents. The last time that Ginny visits Marcus at his house, the boy is groggy and has no control over his body, to the extent that he wets his bed. However, Marcus still asks Ginny to read him the poem that she had written for him, indicating that he is genuinely in love with her, and thoughts of Ginny can probably still calm him down in such scenarios. Ultimately, Marcus has to be taken to rehab at the end of Ginny & Georgia season 3, meaning that we will have to wait some more time to see him and Ginny get back together, if it ever happens at all.
