‘Housefull 5’ Movie Ending Explained & Summary: Who Killed The Bedi And The Captain?

Published

I don’t know how people who have been in the entertainment business could green light the torture that is named Housefull 5. I understand that in this particular genre, which is termed “brainrot,” one needs to leave logic at the door and just go with the flow. But even after doing that, it was a task to sit through the full duration of Housefull 5. The story, which was apparently conceived by Sajid Nadiadwala after 15 years of thinking and meditation and had two different endings, A and B, for the first time in the history of Indian cinema, was so atrocious that one didn’t know what the writers wanted. The dialog, the conversations, and the situations are the key to a good comedy film, but there too the writers failed completely. Akshay Kumar, as Julius, tried to do whatever he could, but even all his efforts couldn’t save the boat from sinking. To make matters worse, the female characters were objectified in the worst possible manner, and the creative team blatantly used them as props in the film. I guess, considering the sensibilities of the masses, that would have worked had the story and screenplay been a bit engaging. Housefull 5 tries to be a murder mystery, and then suddenly it wants to be an adult comedy. But then, all of a sudden, it remembers that it could also use the name of the franchise to its benefit and earn a laugh or two. It fumbles the ball and ends up being a total debacle. I don’t understand how you can get so many actors on board and spend so much money on their costumes and makeup, but you can’t hire a good writer to come up with a decent story. I mean, it’s beyond my imagination how these big production houses undervalue the importance of a good script, and they think that they can fool the audience and entertain them by objectifying women, putting in a sleazy dance number, and making lame and outdated jokes. That said, I feel pity for the creators, as even with such a huge budget, they ended up making the worst film of the entire franchise, even when the bar was not that high. Let’s find out what happened in the film and who was the one behind the murders.

Spoiler Alert

What happened after Ranjit’s death?

It was business tycoon Ranjit’s 100th birthday, and his son, Dev, together with the board of directors, had decided to throw a huge party on a cruise. His board of directors included Bedi, Maya, Shiraz, and Dev. But just before the celebrations, Ranjit passed away, and he left a hologram of his will for Dev and the others to let them know how he wanted his property to be distributed. In his will, Ranjit had stated that he was leaving his 69 billion pound empire to Jolly, who happened to be his son from his first wife. Dev, who had already dreamt about leading the organization, was shocked when he heard about it. He didn’t understand why his father would do something like that when he was the one who was managing the family business from the very beginning. But he had no option but to put on a happy face and welcome Jolly on board, given he was supposed to join them on the cruise with his foreigner wife. Now instead of one, three Jollys arrive at the cruise, all of them claiming to be the real one. The first one was named Jalabuddin, the second was called Jalbushan, and the third one was called Julius. Now the obvious plot twist was that each one of the teams was lying. That was because each one of them had asked the partner of the other person to accompany them on the cruise as their wives, not knowing that they would spill the secrets to their real partners. So basically Julius approached Kaanchi and asked her to come with him, not knowing that she was Jalabuddin’s girlfriend. Kaanchi told everything to Jalabuddin, who then looked for a partner, and teamed up with Zara, and Jalbushan got along with Sasikala. That’s how three fake Jollys ended up on the cruise. Julius got the information about Ranjit’s will as he himself was a detective, and he had been hired by Ranjit to find the real Jolly. When he got to know that nobody knew what Jolly looked like, he decided to try his luck and see if he could win a jackpot. But soon the truth came out in the open, and all the Jollys got stuck in a terrible mess from which they didn’t know how to escape.

Who Killed The Bedi And The Captain?

The doctor who was supposed to conduct a DNA test on all three Jollys was the first one to be murdered. After that, Bedi, who apparently was up to something, died under mysterious circumstances. Just before Bedi was killed, the girls; Kaanchi, Zara, and Sashikala, had seen the man putting something inside the doctor’s dead body in the morgue. They felt that he was planting some evidence on the man so that police could be misled and an innocent man could be framed. After everything that had happened, Maya decided to call her ex-husband, Baba, who was an Interpol agent, to board the ship and investigate the case. Baba and his colleague, Bhidu, were suspended from their jobs just before Maya gave the former a call. When Bhidu got to know about it, he felt that it was an opportunity he shouldn’t let go of. He told Baba to not tell Maya and the others that they had been suspended and to just go and find out who the killer was. Dev, the CEO, had been taken into custody as it was believed that he was the one who had killed the doctor and Bedi. But then when he was inside the brig, another murder happened, and the captain of the ship was brutally stabbed. Bhidu and Baba realized that Dev couldn’t have been the killer, but guess what? They were wrong, and the truth came out in the open once their boss, Dagdu Hulgund, arrived at the scene. Dagdu, through his exceptional skills, was able to figure out that Dev was not innocent, as everybody assumed, since he had a partner who killed the captain when he was in the brig. Dagdu joined forces with Julius, as the former knew that he also worked as a private detective.

During Housefull 5’s ending, it came to be known that Jalbushan, aka Jolly 2, had conspired together with Dev and killed the doctor and Bedi. They didn’t have any plans of killing the captain, but the latter had seen them in the act and was trying to blackmail them and extort money. So Jalbushan, when Dev was in the prison, killed the captain, and because of that, he was able to make people think that Dev was not the mastermind of the entire plan. In the alternate ending of Housefull 5, also known as Housefull 5B, Maya was revealed to be the killer. She had not only conspired with Jalbushan to have the doctor, Bedi, and the captain of the ship killed, but she had also framed Dev, causing him to be sent to the brig. Dagdu Hulgund, with the help of Jolly 1 and 3, was able to catch hold of the killers, but the question was, if everybody was lying, then who was the real Jolly?

Who Was The Real Jolly?

In Housefull 5’s ending, the real Jolly, aka Jalal Dobriyal, revealed that he did not need the 69 billion pounds, as he himself had an empire of 169 billion pounds. He asked everybody to equally distribute the money that his father had left for him, and the people couldn’t have been happier. So after becoming rich overnight, Julius married Sasikala, whereas Kaanchi ended up with Jalabuddin. As for Zara, she decided to go with the real Jolly and ended up becoming the princess of his huge empire. In 5A, it was Dev and Jalbushan who were sent to jail, and in 5B, Maya and Jalbushan were put behind bars. At the end I would just like to say that, even while writing the summary of the events and trying to explain whatever happened in the film, I found it so absurd that we still make films like these in our country and expect the entertainment business to flourish. Housefull 5 is exactly the reason why people today have started giving preference to regional cinema. I mean, when you have the best series from around the world at your fingertips, then why would you want to waste your energy on such a film? That said, I guess it’s about time that Akshay Kumar really thinks through his choices and starts signing better projects.
