We saw in the first two episodes of Irish Blood that Fiona uncovered several shocking truths about what was happening in Wicklow. She was even threatened with death, and she discovered the illegal horse-breeding operations taking place in the area. She had gotten to know that a man named Patsy Burgess was involved in the illegal trading, and she felt at the time that he probably had something to do with her father’s murder. Fiona was not ready to believe that her father had taken his life. She knew him too well to accept that lie. At the end of episode 2, Fiona was abducted and taken to a bog in the area. She was told at gunpoint to leave Wicklow and go back to the US as soon as she could, but Fiona had no plans of leaving, at least not until she found out what happened to her father. So, let’s find out what happened in Irish Blood episode 3, and if Fiona was able to make another breakthrough.
Spoiler Alert
What did Fiona find out about the McIntyres?
Fiona carefully studied each and every object that she found inside her father’s briefcase. She knew that every object was crucial evidence that could lead her to solving some cases. Fiona saw an MMA boxing glove with blood stains on it inside her father’s briefcase. She asked Roisin if there were some unsanctioned underground fights happening in Wicklow. That’s how she got to know about a man named Caoimhin McIntyre, who was involved in the underground fighting scene and was himself an undefeated champion. Fiona quite strangely found a small slab of concrete inside the boxing glove, and she knew that whoever that glove belonged to was cheating and intentionally hurting his opponents. Fiona asked Roisin to do some background research while she went and had a chat with Musa, just hoping that he could tell her something about the glove. Since Musa owned a boxing club, he was well aware of all the prominent gyms in the area. He saw a logo on the glove, and he told Fiona that it was of a gym that closed in the late nineties. Roisin had already found out that Benji Donovan, brother of Siobhan, had lost his life in an MMA fight. A man named Johnny McIntyre, who happened to be Caoimhin’s cousin, was the one who was fighting against Benji that day. Fiona believed that Benji’s death was not an accident, and Johnny had killed him intentionally. Fiona knew that if she could match that blood on the glove with Johnny’s DNA, she would be able to reveal the truth. Also, it was Johnny who had found that horse, Beannacht Ben, that belonged to the Donovan family, in the bog. Fiona knew that the McIntyres were somehow a part of the entire illegal trade and probably had something to do with Declan’s death too.
What happened between Fiona and Musa?
Fiona liked Musa, and she knew that the man had fallen for her. She knew that he was not the type of guy with whom she could just have a fling and move on. He was just waiting for the right opportunity to arrive, and he knew that he would ask her out on a date. Musa had made it pretty clear that he would do anything to help Fiona out, and that she shouldn’t hesitate in asking him for help. Fiona gave Musa a call and asked him to pick her up from the bog. She told Musa that she had noticed the hand of the man who’d pointed a gun at her and asked her to go back to the US. She said that she noticed that he had a big scar, and she felt that man must have had something to do with her father’s death. Fiona quite impulsively went and asked Musa if he could fight Caoimhin in an unsanctioned fight and manage to get his blood somehow. Then they could conduct a DNA test and find out if Benji’s death was merely an accident or a planned murder. The moment Fiona said that, she knew that she was being very unreasonable. She was literally asking Musa to walk into a death trap, and so she asked him to just forget about it. But Musa agreed to fight the dreaded Caoimhin, and Fiona just couldn’t believe that he was ready to put his life at risk just so that she could find out who murdered her father. Musa went inside the ring, and not only did he manage to secure the blood sample, but he actually defeated his supposedly invincible opponent.
The blood sample was a match, and Johnny was arrested by the police. He might have been responsible for Benji’s death, but Fiona still didn’t have anything to connect him with her father’s death. Musa finally asked Fiona out on a date, and she agreed. She knew that she was commitment-phobic, but there was something about Musa that made her take that leap of faith. She knew that she might end up breaking his heart, but this time she just couldn’t stop herself. Musa and Fiona had a rather intimate evening together, and it seemed like the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
Was Johnny Responsible For Declan’s Death?
Johnny got arrested, but he told the officer in charge to give his boss a message. He threatened the officer that he would hurt his family if he didn’t help him out. Johnny wanted to tell his boss that if he was not released immediately, then he would make sure that everybody went down with him. We never got to know who his boss was, but surely he was a man who had the entire system under his control. I still feel that Una Murphy and Siobhan are not who they pretend to be. The way Una got paranoid when she got to know that Fiona had been attacked made it feel that she had a lot at stake and she was clearly hiding things from everybody. Finn, on the other hand, looked quite genuine, and I don’t think he knows anything more than what he told Fiona. Also, I have a feeling that Siobhan has something to do with the entire illegal horse trading ring, and even Declan’s death. It was Johnny who broke into Fiona’s room and who also asked her to go back to her country. Caoimhin also knew about what Fiona was up to, but I believe the McIntyre brothers are just pawns in a much bigger game. As I stated in the previous episodes of Irish Blood, it seems highly unlikely that the most affluent family in Wicklow had nothing to do with what was happening or were at the very least unaware about it. I think Fiona has become a threat for whosoever is behind all this, and I believe that he will reveal himself in the upcoming episodes. But before that, Fiona would have to make sure that she does not put her life in jeopardy, as we saw what those people were capable of doing.
