‘Irish Blood’ Episode 4 Recap: Is Minerva Dead?

Published

Johnny McIntyre was put behind bars in Irish Blood episode 3, but Fiona knew that there were still many secrets hidden in Wicklow that she needed to uncover in order to find the truth behind her father’s suspected murder. In episode 4, Fiona got to know that her mother had become worried after she had heard what happened with her daughter. So she’d decided to book tickets and come to Wicklow. With that said, let’s find out what happened in Irish Blood episode 4 and if Fiona was able to make any breakthroughs.

Spoiler Alert

Did Fiona decide to get into a relationship with Musa?

In the previous episode, Fiona and Musa spent a romantic evening together. Musa’s intentions were pretty clear from the very beginning: he wanted to be with Fiona, but he was also well aware that Fiona was hesitant to commit to anything. I believe that, since her father left her, she had developed deep abandonment issues. I don’t know for sure, but she probably felt that everybody who came into her life would eventually leave her. Which was why she was still single, and she felt that living alone was much better than falling in love, only to be hurt at the end. But Musa was different. He was persistent, he understood Fiona, and moreover, he gave her the space that she wanted. Musa got to know that Fiona’s mother was coming to Wicklow, as she was worried for her daughter, and she wanted to be around her. Musa got excited and told Fiona that he would love to meet her and accompany Fiona to the airport. But then he saw the look on Fiona’s face, and he understood that she probably didn’t want them to meet. So Musa didn’t push her or ask her any questions. Later in episode 4, Musa bumped into Mary and Fiona. Mary wanted to shop for some clothes, and he offered to accompany her. Mary told him that her daughter was a good person and all he needed to do was give her some time. Mary knew in her heart that Musa would take good care of her daughter, and she hoped that they would end up together. But Fiona was still hesitant about her romantic relationship with Musa and therefore introduced him as a friend instead. At the end of episode 4, Musa and Fiona went on a walk, and he told her that, firstly, he wanted to be with her, and secondly, he was in no rush. He told Fiona that she could take all the time in the world, and he was ready to take things slowly. Fiona agreed, and I believe it was the start of a beautiful relationship. Also, apart from that, Musa’s presence would greatly help Fiona during her time in Ireland, as we had seen that she was dealing with some really dangerous people and Musa, being a pro-fighter can help her when they needed.

What did Father Al want from Fiona?

Mary met Declan’s family, and she was overwhelmed by the kind of reception she got. Isidora and Una welcomed her into their home, and they were happy that at last they had finally met her. The pastor from the local church, Father Al, came to visit Una to ask her for a contribution towards his charitable trust. Mary was pleasantly surprised when she saw him, as she knew him from before. Father Al, who used to be known as Callum Deasy, was Declan’s good friend, and he had met Mary back in the day. In fact, when Declan was trying to woo Mary, before they got married, Declan always visited her together with Callum. The good-looking pastor asked Mary to have dinner with him, and she couldn’t resist his charm. That evening, Mary ended up making out with Callum, and she couldn’t wait to meet him again. It seemed like she had finally moved on from Declan’s tragic death. Meanwhile, Claude, the local sergeant, arrived at Declan’s house unannounced, and he told Fiona that he was looking for a particular hard drive, which apparently had information about the bitcoin that Declan had bought. Fiona knew that bitcoin investments were a good way to launder money, and she presumed that the police might be looking to follow the money trail and find the others involved in it. Fiona was a bit suspicious about Callum’s intentions too, as Isidora had already warned her, but we got to know at the end that she was not wrong. Callum wasn’t asking Mary out on dates because he liked her; he wanted to blackmail Fiona into giving him the hard drive when the opportunity came. Fiona figured out that, days before her father left them for good, Callum had come to the States. It was Callum who had sent those men, who broke into Declan’s house, after which he went to Wicklow.

Also, Fiona found out that he didn’t run any charitable organization; it all was a big scam. Callum called Fiona, and he told her to give him the hard drive if she wanted to see her mother alive. Callum presumed that Fiona had the hard drive on her, but she had no clue where it was. Fiona gave him another drive just so that he wouldn’t hurt her mother. It was the same hard drive that the police had previously taken into custody, but they didn’t find anything related to the case on it. And when Callum realized that it was not the hard drive he wanted, he called Fiona and told her that somebody would pay the price for what she had done. Fiona didn’t understand what he meant, but then Roisin called her on the phone and told her that Minerva, Declan’s previous assistant, had been murdered.

Who killed Minerva?

Fiona knew that Minerva knew where the hard drive was kept, and she was also aware of what was on it. She’d asked her to give it to her so that she could save her mother. But Minerva told her that, as much as she wanted to save her mother, that hard drive was the only thing keeping her alive. In Irish Blood episode 3, after Johnny McIntyre was put behind bars, he told one of the police officers to communicate his message to his boss. He said that if he was not released from the prison, then he would take everybody down with him. Probably Johnny’s boss, whoever he was, knew that if he were able to get his hands on the hard drive, then Johnny would no longer be a threat to him. That drive held secrets, definitely, which was why so many people were after it. Also, I think Claude was surely on the payroll of whoever was running the entire show. He was acting on their orders, which was why he never really investigated Declan’s death. Though it was not revealed who killed Minerva, I think it was Johnny’s boss who had gotten her murdered. I can’t help but have my doubts about the Donovan family. As stated in the recap of the previous episode, I believe they are the ones who are calling the shots. I believe that Siobhan Donovan could be the one who had gotten Minerva killed. But then it’s merely speculation, and we will get to know the truth in the subsequent episodes.
