‘Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’ Season 2 Expectations: Who Is The Broker?

Published

At the time of writing this article, Netflix and Universal haven’t officially announced that there’s going to be a second season of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. But given how Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous ran for five excruciating seasons, unless this “sequel series” receives an abysmally low number of views, it’s bound to get greenlit for Season 2. The showrunners are so confident about getting a second season—which is something that a lot of showrunners working with Netflix can’t say—that they have left things on quite the cliffhanger. The plot of the show hinges on the Nublar Six finding the person or organization that has murdered Brooklynn with the help of an Allosaurus. That obviously becomes difficult when a woman with a whistle uses a trio of Velociraptors to hunt down the Nublar Six. However, that doesn’t stop Darius, Yaz, Sammy, Kenji, and Ben from getting to the bottom of the case and finding the connection between the dinosaur smuggling nexus and the alleged death of Brooklynn. I say “alleged” because Brooklynn is, in fact, alive and working from the shadows. So, let’s talk about what we can expect to see in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2.

Spoiler Alert

How did Brooklynn survive?

The two things that we know are that Brooklynn lost an arm while trying to escape the clutches of the Allosaurus and that she is covertly working with Ronnie, i.e., Darius’ old boss. Mateo and Darius saw the severed hand and simply assumed that the Allosaurus had eaten her up and forgotten about the hand. But now it’s obvious that Brooklynn sacrificed one of her limbs to get away from the bloodthirsty dinosaur. However, after suffering such a grave injury, it’s obvious that she needed medical help. She knew that she was being followed. She probably knew that the DPW, or whoever was controlling the DPW, was keeping tabs on the Nublar Six. That’s why she couldn’t go to them. So, maybe Ronnie was the only person she trusted to help her recuperate, reorganize, and retaliate. Hence, in my opinion, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2 will have a few episodes dedicated to how Brooklynn survived the attack, what exactly happened between her and Daniel Kon, how her relationship with Darius and Kenji devolved, and how she set up her new headquarters. It’s a no-brainer that the show will have an emotional confrontation between Brooklynn and the rest of the gang, and I don’t know how well the latter are going to take the news of her fake death.

Who Is The Broker?

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 1 definitely takes place after or during the events of Jurassic World Dominion because there’s mention of carnivorous locusts, and even though I remember nothing from that movie, I do have a distinct memory of the anger that overcame me at the sight of the locusts subplot. Now, in that movie, Biosyn was established as the big bad villain of the franchise, and as far as I can remember, Dr. Wu (who somehow seems to survive every Jurassic movie and show) had joined hands with them. So, my best guess is that the Broker is actually Dr. Wu. I mean, do I really have to list the reasons why Wu might be in the business of illegally buying and selling dinosaurs via an organization that’s supposed to protect prehistoric wildlife? The man has a history of doing all kinds of nonsensical stuff. Hence, it’s possible that Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2 will show what Wu did after the events of Dominion to become the Broker. Well, if it’s not him, it’s probably someone who has been working for him.

What Is The Deal With The Velociraptor Handler?

The silent villain of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, who looked like Cate Blanchett from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was the best thing about the show. The sinister way in which she used her Raptors was quite creepy and spine-chilling. While she was mostly very clinical about her kills, things probably became personal after her tryst with the Nublar Six. So, it’s highly likely that we’re going to see her focus all her energy on the kids and prioritize them over everything else. That can put her at odds with her boss, but it looks like she will stop at nothing to feed the kids to the Raptors. In addition to that, I hope that we get to see how she became such a good Raptor handler. Did she grow up with those dinosaurs? How did she master the whistle? Is she even human? I ask that last question because the franchise has already introduced human clones. It had a dinosaur that could become invisible. Well, it has dinosaurs mixed with various kinds of DNA. The writers have already stretched the boundaries of sci-fi to their maximum here. Therefore, an android Raptor handler won’t be a huge stretch.

Will Mateo take care of Bumpy?

It’s silly and maybe kind of endearing that Bumpy was the beating heart of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and continues to be so in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. Now, according to the end of this show, she is a mother, and she and her baby are in Mateo’s capable hands. Since Bumpy has to take care of her child, I guess she won’t be in the thick of it in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2. Maybe Mateo will keep the Nublar Six updated about Bumpy and her baby via video calls. That said, Bumpy has a habit of being the Deus ex machina of this series, and Mateo certainly has the potential to be one because he has saved the kids from some sticky situations in the first season of the show. So, who is going to stop both of them from barging into the lair of a villain to save the Nublar Six in the second season of the sequel series? Well, certainly not the writers.

Will DPW be shut down?

After the death of DPW regional director Dudley Cabrera, it seemed like Executive Director Wells (who is a character that we probably haven’t encountered yet) had sent out a blanket notice to all personnel in the Department of Prehistoric Wildlife to return to their stations and wait for further instructions. This can seem like a precautionary measure to avoid any kind of chaos or speculation due to Cabrera’s death. But I can’t help but theorize that it’s possible that Wells is the aforementioned Broker, and he is the one who has been pulling the strings all along. Maybe he wanted things to go wrong so that he could take complete control of the DPW and do things his way without any consultation from his colleagues. Thankfully, Ronnie is spying on the DPW and informing Brooklynn about it. Therefore, if anything goes wrong, I am sure that they’ll do everything to expose the DPW in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2 and shut them down once and for all.
