‘Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’ Season 3 Recap (Episodes 1-10): Did Brooklynn Stop Santos?

Published

In the second season of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, we had seen that Brooklynn had decided to go with Soyona Santos, and that had left all the other members of the Nublar Six astonished. They were already disappointed in her for faking her death, and after she left with Santos, they were no longer sure about what she wanted. Brooklynn knew that even if her friends made her their enemy, she wouldn’t put their lives at risk by asking them to help her out. Brooklynn was aware that she might end up losing everything by the time her mission ended, but she was ready to make that sacrifice if she could save the world in return. So let’s recap all the important events of season 3 to find out if Brooklynn was able to stop Santos or not.

Spoiler Alert

How did the Nublar Six reach Italy?

Kenji, Sammy, Yaz, Darius, and Ben saw Brooklynn leaving with Santos in front of their eyes, and they couldn’t understand what she was up to. They all trusted their friend, but the way she had behaved in the past made them doubt her intentions. Where Ben, Yaz, and Darius still believed in Brooklynn, Kenji and Sammy were extremely hurt by her attitude. They both understood that Brooklynn probably had the best of intentions, but still they didn’t think that it was fair on her part to leave them like that. The five of them were deep in thought when a plane landed on the same airstrip, and a man named Barry Sembene stepped off it. Darius knew Barry, as the latter used to train raptors with Owen Grady, though he had no clue what the purpose of his visit was. Barry told the Nublar Six that he worked for the French Intelligence and that he had been tracking the broker’s, i.e., Santos’ jet for quite some time. Barry offered to drop Darius and his group to the States, as that was where he was headed. Throughout their journey, Kenji and the others had doubts about Barry’s intentions, and they didn’t know if they had done the right thing by trusting him. But before anybody could come to any conclusion, a dinosaur was able to break free from the cage on the plane. Once Barry, who was flying the aircraft, heard noises coming from outside the cockpit, he left the plane on autopilot and came out to see what was happening. The dinosaur made a hole in the plane, which caused rapid decompression.

The plane crashed, but fortunately no harm came to anyone on board. That’s when Kenji and his friends decided to seize the opportunity and make a run for it, before Barry did anything to harm them. Ben took the initiative and told the team that he knew somebody in Italy who could help them out and get them a place to stay temporarily. Ben told everybody that his girlfriend, Gia, lived in Italy, and he was taking them to her house. Nobody believed that Ben had a girlfriend until she came out of her house to greet them all. Kenji, Darius, Sammy, and Yaz were dumbfounded, and they just couldn’t imagine that Ben had actually been dating. Kenji had Bumpy’s egg with him, and the problem was that Gia’s granny just hated dinosaurs, as she believed they brought bad luck wherever they went. But granny’s beliefs changed after the egg hatched and a cute little dinosaur came out of it. Kenji got emotional when he saw the baby dinosaur, and he decided to name it Smoothie. The happiness of the baby dinosaur being born was short-lived as the Nublar Six got to know that there was a pyroraptor on the loose, and they had no clue how it had come there. Smoothie escaped from Gia’s house, and the team went searching for the baby dinosaur in the marketplace, where they had an encounter with the ferocious pyroraptor. The pyroraptor would have definitely attacked them had a bunch of atrociraptors not arrived there just in time. These atrociraptors belonged to Santos, and they were being controlled by the same handler the Nublar Six had had an encounter with in the past. The handler wanted to capture the pyroraptor and take it to the Biosyn facility. After the handler left, Ben and others realized that they needed to find out what exactly was happening in the Biosyn facility and what their friend was up to.

What was Santos’ plan?

Brooklynn had gotten to know that Biosyn was trying to disrupt the global food supply by using genetically engineered locusts, but she wanted to know what Santos’ endgame was; what was that woman trying to do? Santos took Brooklynn to Malta, where Biosyn had created an underground fortress in the catacombs. The catacombs were closed to the general public so that the company, under the leadership of Lewis Dodgson, could function without any hindrance. Another important detail about that hidden facility was that it was just beneath the Amber Clave market, where illegal trade of dinosaurs happened quite openly. Santos did whatever Lewis Dodgson asked her to because she wanted control over that entire black market and that only Lewis could give her. We saw that at the beginning of season 3, Santos’ handler was able to threaten Chuck Desai, a professor from Delaney University and an advisor to the UN, into showing his support for Biosyn. The professor had publicly supported Biosyn’s dominion over all the dinosaurs, a move that made people like Ben a little surprised since the former had spoken out against the organization earlier.

Brooklynn tried to dig up as much information as she could, and she also met a journalist named Davi, who was trying to find incriminating evidence against Biosyn and whoever was involved in the illegal trading of dinosaurs. Davi had no clue who he was dealing with, though Brooklynn tried to warn him about it. One thing that Brooklynn did right was win the trust of Santos, so much so that, till the very end, the latter never doubted her intentions. Also, Santos’ tiff with her handler came as a blessing in disguise for Brooklynn, as she knew that she could use the situation to her advantage and stop Santos.

How did Kenji and the others find Biosyn’s facility?

As stated earlier, Kenji and Sammy just didn’t want to go to Malta as they were not happy with Brooklynn’s actions. I believe both Kenji and Sammy carried baggage and trauma from their past, and Brooklynn just triggered it by abandoning them. Brooklynn was doing it so that nobody else had to risk their lives, but Sammy and Kenji felt that she’d gone a bit too extreme with her plans. She felt that she could have at least dropped them a text message, but instead she faked her own death and made them live through the trauma of losing their friend. I believe neither party was wrong on their end, and they were justified in feeling and doing whatever they did. So Ben, Darius, and Yaz left for Malta while Kenji and Sammy decided to take a flight back to the States. Before leaving, Yaz had a huge fight with Sammy, and the latter got so angry that she didn’t even come to meet Yaz when she was leaving. Gia was going to drop Sammy and Kenji off when they saw a van that belonged to Biosyn, abandoned in the middle of the road. It was the same vehicle that was carrying the pyroraptor, and before Kenji and Sammy could figure out anything else, the ferocious beast attacked them out of nowhere. The pyroraptor headed off in the direction where a lot of locals were snowboarding. Sammy, Kenji, and Gia knew that they had to do something to save the people. Kenji and Sammy showed a lot of grit and courage, and in the end, they were able to chase away the pyroraptor in a different direction. All three of them breathed a sigh of relief, and that’s when Sammy switched on the Biosyn tablet that she had retrieved from that abandoned van. They saw that there was an entire Biosyn valley nearby and then realized that the pyroraptor must have escaped from there itself.

Was Brooklynn Able To Stop Santos?

At the end of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 3, Santos decided to eliminate Davi, the journalist, as she believed that he was tracking Brooklynn’s movements. Until that time, Santos had no clue that Brooklynn had every intention of spoiling her plans. Ben, Yaz, and Darius reached Malta, and they finally reunited with Brooklynn. Brooklynn was a bit disappointed when she found out that Kenji and Sammy had decided to stay back, but she didn’t express her feelings as she knew deep down that she called it upon herself. Brooklynn knew that Santos was trying to sell the raptors to a client in Riyadh, and she was well aware of her extraction plans too. So Brooklynn went to save Davi, as she was the only one who recognized him, and the others went to stop Santos from making the deal and also escaping from Malta thereafter. Brooklynn found Davi, but before she could escape with him, the handler arrived at the scene. Brooklynn realized that she wouldn’t be able to outrun the handler, and so she offered to help her out if she spared her life. Meanwhile the French intelligence, under the leadership of Barry, was able to bust the deal that Santos was making, and then later, Brooklynn caught hold of her just when she was about to escape in her chopper.

Now Santos had the laser beam with her, through which she could control the raptors and order them to kill anybody. The handler, on the other hand, had spent a substantial amount of time with the predators, and she too had faith in the bond that she had formed with them. She believed that even if the laser beam was pointed at her, the raptors wouldn’t attack her. At the end of season 3, the handler and Santos came face to face, and the former proved to the latter that her bond with the dinosaurs was much stronger than her laser beam. But Santos was the kind of woman who always had a contingency plan. She knew it could be possible that the raptors wouldn’t attack them, and so she had a Carnotaurus waiting in the gallows. The Carnotaurus, which was much bigger than the raptors, ate the handler alive, and the poor raptors ran away from there to save their lives. The French intelligence arrived just in time and took Santos into custody. Brooklynn, together with her friends, took the chopper, and I guess they flew to the same Biosyn training facility that Sammy and others had found in episode 7.

We never came to know what happened to Lewis Dodgson, if he was able to escape or if he too met his fateful end. As for Santos, I don’t think that the law-enforcing authorities will be able to keep her behind bars for long. She will find a way to come out, and she will go after Brooklynn to take revenge on her. I believe in season 4, the Nublar Six will finally get reunited and try to stop Biosyn from disrupting the food supply. I believe that Brooklynn will get a chance to explain herself, and I hope that Kenji and Sammy are able to forgive her.
