Love Is Blind: Germany is over. Well, not officially, because we still have the reunion episode to come, but the weddings have finally happened, and I know everyone has thoughts. I’m not going to lie, even though I’m still a skeptic about these shows, there was one couple on here that I really enjoyed, but I’ll get into that a little later in the article. The final episode of the show sees the couples all follow the same order of things. We see them show up, try on their outfits, the families and friends going gaga over them, until it’s time for the actual big reveal. Then they say their vows first before deciding if it’s yes or no. This might be kind of confusing, and if you’re watching the show for the first time, it might seem unfair for the person who gets rejected (if they do that is), but that is just the way the show is designed, to amp up the dramatic effect. Season 2 has definitely been interesting. There have been people I’ve absolutely despised, and unfortunately, they’ve made it to this final stage, but alas, that’s what gets the most clicks, I suppose. But having said that, there are some highlights in the final episode, and if it’s taught us anything, it’s that we really love a good, sweet and happy story, with no hostility, no weirdness, just love, you know? Anyway, without further ado, let’s jump straight into the final episode.
Spoiler Alert
Yasmin And Andi
This has been the couple I’ve absolutely despised. If Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” could’ve been licensed for use as background score for this show, it should’ve played everytime Andi was on screen. There’s something especially dreadful about men in their 40s who think they’re doing something good by softening a blow. Mate, you’re not helping anybody. Everything about Andi screamed redflag during the pods, especially when he asked one of his dates to reject one of his prospects so he wouldn’t have to (sigh). But Yasmin was no better because she took that as an advantage, as a positive for herself, though it really wasn’t. I know this is a show about trying to find life partners, but it’s not a competition, it’s a process. It’s about finding a partnership, not “may the best person win.” Did she think she was in the “Hunger Games?”
But I might be blabbering a bit too much. I made a prediction last week during my recap of the first 8 episodes, that the show gave us a hint that Yasmin will reject Andi because she changes her final dress, unlike the other two women. This prediction came through, and I was like “Yes! I knew it!” I think this was the most sensible thing Yasmin did on the show, but hey, that might just be me. Anyway, the thing that totally surprised me wasn’t even the fact that Andi said yes, but that he expected Yasmin to say yes. To be fair, her vows were great, but that’s the whole point. However, when you have doubts, you gotta take a step back, and that’s what she did. Ironically, it wasn’t even Andi who had a crazy reaction to this; no, it was his mother who felt betrayed. I told you, manchild. The babying of this 42-year-old man really led him to show off all the bad qualities he possesses on the screen. But I do think he took the no in a mature fashion.
Josy And Gunnar
Can I just say they were always my favourite? The thing that is so German about this show is the fact that someone said they didn’t want a child and still got to be on the show. I feel like, culturally, in other countries, they wouldn’t have made it past the pods even if they were around. I’m genuinely so happy that Josy gave Gunnar a chance, and this feels, in a way, like some sort of representation. Gunnar’s honesty gave Josy a new perspective, and I love that she was open to him, because she said that he gave her new meaning in life. Basically, Gunnar made Josy feel seen and understood. He made her feel accepted as biracial. They both end up crying at the altar, which makes it clear they’re both going to say yes. And that is exactly what happened. What a beautiful wedding it is. Also, from Reddit, I learnt that they might still be together, but I guess we’ll have to wait to find out in the reunion episode.
Jessi And Konstantin
The final couple in the show is Jessi and Konsti, but this is a couple I genuinely didn’t feel any kind of feelings for. This couple definitely comes off a little bit toxic, but that might just be me. However, I’ve got to admit their wedding was quite lovely, and they even had the FC Cologne anthem play at the wedding, which is a song they bonded over right from the start. Might’ve been the reason they even said yes to each other in the pods, eh? Also, loved her dress and the way they both immediately started crying haha. Really crazy how Jessi is super excited for the wedding but Konsti’s literally nervous to the point of feeling nauseous. To be fair, this might’ve just been to add drama to the whole thing. They were the couple that got engaged twice, so maybe they’ll last.
Ultimately, there are two happy weddings and one unfortunate departure, but maybe that’s for the best. Guess the Love Is Blind experiment proves to be right yet again, until we find out if the couples are still together, of course. Who do you think will be the couple that will last this experiment and do you think anyone would’ve broken up or rekindled during the reunion? Let us know in the comments down below.
