‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 4 Finale Theories: Who’ll Die? Who’ll Survive?

Published

So, the finale of Mayor of Kingstown Season 4 is just around the corner, and I cannot wait to find out who’s going to die next. I know this sounds morbid, but it’s Kingstown, mate. The valley reeks of death and violence, and the way bodies are dropping this season, I think we should prepare ourselves to see a mass funeral. Well, I think the penultimate episode gave us enough hints about what we can expect next, and based on these clues, I have a few theories that I want to discuss with you folks. But before moving forward, a spoiler warning for those you haven’t seen the ninth episode yet.

The Masked Shooter

In episode 9’s ending, a masked gunman opened fire on Don’s Diner, while Mike and his friends were still inside. It was a riveting cliffhanger to keep the viewers on the edge; however, I believe this crisis will be resolved in the first 5-6 minutes of the finale. None of our key characters—Mike, Kyle, Ian, and Stevie—are going to be harmed, because these folks are very important for the next season. So how’s Mike going to deal with the situation? I think he’s either going to trick this shooter and take him down, or Ian’s going to call for backup to get rid of him. However, what I am more interested in here is the identity of this masked gunman. And who really sent him? I first thought he was an agent of Moses, but if you look at the shooter’s eyes closely, they may remind you of Cortez. Callahan has blue eyes, by the way, so it isn’t him either. The shooter has a white skin tone, and I think he’s most likely a member of the cartel. In episode 9, Nina Hobbs had told Mike that they were looking for the person responsible for leaking information about their shipment, and it wouldn’t take a genius to figure out that it was none other than the mayor of Kingstown. So the cartel wants him gone because he’s fiddling too much in their affairs and hurting their business. However, if I am wrong here, and it’s not Cortez and it’s actually Callahan, it still wouldn’t make much of a difference. I believe, in the finale, Mike’s going to take out most of his adversaries of this season, be it Moses, Callahan, or Cortez. And how he’s going to do it is what we should be looking out for in episode 10.

Moses Is Going to Die in Prison

You already know that Bunny’s yearning for retribution. He wanted to call in a hit on Moses, but Mike stopped him because he had another use for him. Through his arrest, he wanted to get his brother out of prison. But now that Mike has sorted out that mess, and Kyle’s already out, Bunny’s free to do whatever he desires. I believe if the showrunners are going to bring more deaths to the screen in the finale, then Moses is one of the likely candidates. With Evelyn’s already building a case against him, I think he’ll be sent to Anchor Bay, where Bunny’s right-hand, Rafa, will finish the job. Well, that was what episode 9 hinted at. Bunny got on a call with Rafa, and the brief conversation between them pointed out that they are planning something really big and bloody to strike back at their enemies. However, if Moses doesn’t die in this season and somehow manages to buy a way out of prison with his power and influence, then I think his arc is going to be continued in the next season, where he’ll return to Kingstown to avenge the death of his best friend, LJ.

Cortez Will Be The Next Target

With Breen, Robert, and so many other psycho killers biting the dust, I guess Cortez is going to be next. The cartel’s hitter has been a nuisance for both Mike and Bunny throughout this season, and I think he won’t be surviving the finale. If the masked shooter outside the diner is not him, then I think in episode 10, Cortez will go after Kevin Jackson, because he was the one who leaked the information about their shipment. But somehow Mike will find out about his plans and take down the cartel’s hitter before he can do any more damage. However, I don’t think Kevin’s going to make it out alive either. In episode 9, Mike had told Bunny that he should let Kevin go, but you know there’s no way out of this line of business except for death.

Hobbs Is Here to Stay

So one of the main reasons why I think Cortez will be shot dead is because of Hobbs. She won’t be at peace so long as Cortez is around, but with him gone, she will eventually be able to help the mayor of Kingstown and restore peace and order in the valley. You might be aware of the fact that Hobbs has a daughter and the cartel’s keeping a close watch on her to keep Hobbs under their thumb, but I don’t think this conflict is going to be resolved this season, and most likely in season 5, she will share her concern with Mike, and he’ll figure out some way to protect Hobbs’ daughter. I know saying this for a man who failed to save his own sister-in-law doesn’t seem right, but Mike’s not totally worthless. It’s just that sometimes even Mike misses the mark. He’s not a hero, just a flawed protagonist. Nevertheless, the reason I think Mike and Hobbs’ friendship is extremely important is because without her on his side, he won’t be able to broker a ceasefire between Bunny and the Colombians. Additionally, I know many of you believe that Torres is dead, but I still can’t wrap my head around it. I think he’s going to come back in the finale, and it is he who will be the next mouthpiece for the cartel, therefore becoming the antagonist of season 5.

My guess is that the season 4 finale won’t completely resolve the issue between Mike, Bunny, and the cartel, as this seems like the main setup for the next season. Cortez might exit the scene, but the cartel is going to strike back again to seize control of Kingstown. They won’t give up so easily, and that’s what Mike will have to sort out in season 5, just like he dealt with the Aryans and the Russians. These two factions are no longer a bother for Mike or his friends. The Russians have completely disappeared from the scene, while the Aryans have lost their old glory after Robert turned their safehouse into ashes. They have been keeping their heads low to not cause any trouble in the valley, except for Merle Callahan.

See You On The Other Side

Yes, those were the words of Merle Callahan himself, and I had to bring them up because the day Callahan fled, he knew that his death was imminent. The only question is when, where, and by whose hands. Okay, I won’t completely deny the possibility that the masked shooter who showed up at Don’s Diner could be Callahan. So if it’s him, and somehow Mike finds a way to take him down, then his reign of terror will finally come to an end. But if it’s not him, then Mike will continue hunting down the monster who killed his sister-in-law in cold blood and give him the death he really deserves. But for some reason, I believe he’s not going to die this season. Callahan knows that Mike’s looking for him, so he will most likely lay low for a while and attack again once Mike has lowered his guard. Because that’s how Callahan operates. He’s the one who bites his enemies in the back. In short, I don’t think Callahan will have a face-off with Mike or Kyle in the season finale, and most likely he’ll return in season 5 to be killed in a way he can’t imagine. And yes, it’s definitely Kyle who’s going to shoot him dead, the same way he took away his child’s mother.

Kyle’s Fate Remains A Mystery

Honestly, I could write pages about what Kyle’s fate is going to be, because the things he is going through could either break him or shape him into a completely different person. What I mean here is Kyle’s standing at a crossroads, and what the future has in store for him depends on the path he chooses from here on. He can either leave Kingstown to raise his kid away from all this dirt and violence, or he can stay in town and slowly turn into another Mike McLusky, sealing the fate of baby Mitch as well. A third possibility is Kyle commits suicide or gets killed in action, forcing Mike to retire for the sake of baby Mitch. And that may be the end of our mayor of Kingstown. Well, if you ask me, that’s the end, I really will wish for Mike. I don’t want Mike to die. Since season 1, he had been wanting to leave Kingstown, but one tragedy after another held him back.  Even Bunny told him twice this season, and this was Mike’s chance to leave the city, but Mike believed that the town wouldn’t survive without him. That’s not true. This is actually an excuse Mike has been telling himself because he has gotten accustomed to this life and he doesn’t know anything else. But maybe Kyle’s death will force him to reconsider his life choices and take decisions he has been running away from all this while.  So I think that’s how the story of these two brothers is going to end, but if you have any other tale to tell, please do share it with me. Also, I would love to know your theories and expectations for the season 4 finale, so do leave a comment below.
