‘Nine Puzzles’ Part 1 Ending Explained: What To Expect From Episode 7?

Published

In Nine Puzzles episode 6’s ending, E-Na discovers the link between the 3 victims, which might be the reason they were all targeted by the same killer. The Disney K-drama tells the story of E-Na, a profiler who found her uncle murdered with an awl in his neck a decade earlier. She now finds herself drawn back into the past again as she receives parcels containing a single puzzle piece every time there’s a murder. E-Na is quick to realize that the murders are all connected to her own uncle’s murder, but what’s the piece that connects her to this person, and why is she on the receiving end of these puzzles? On the other hand, there’s Hansaem, a detective whose first case was E-Na’s uncle’s murder, but it haunts him because he never managed to solve it, and continues to believe that E-Na, who was the sole witness, is also the culprit. But together, they may ultimately solve the mystery of the serial killer case. Let’s find out what happens at the end of the first part of the series and what we can expect from part 2.

Spoiler Alert

What’s the one thing E-Na remembers?

10 years ago, after stumbling upon her uncle’s bleeding body on the floor of his room, E-Na forgot everything that happened starting from when she stepped into the house. She’s been going to therapy ever since and is now a criminal profiler, but somehow she isn’t able to recall any details from that time. However, 10 years later, when she teams up with Hansaem to solve some new murders and starts receiving new puzzle pieces, she remembers one small detail. When E-Na arrived at the scene of her uncle’s murder, she never looked back; she only picked up the puzzle piece and then looked straight ahead, into the window. E-Na now remembers that she saw a black reflection in the window and couldn’t muster up the courage to look back. We know that E-Na is basically a psychopath because she never cried when her dad died. She’s also an orphan and looks at things objectively rather than subjectively; this is why she’s an excellent profiler. So it’s interesting that her therapist tells her that she probably feels guilty about not having turned around or not being able to help her uncle. This is probably why she purged the memory. But now that she’s experienced the one trigger, there’s a chance she’ll end up able to remember more as time passes and she gets more puzzle pieces.

How Are The 3 Victims Connected?

E-Na gets the first new puzzle piece when Miyoung is killed. Miyoung was killed in her own car, with a rope around her neck. Chimok visited her whiskey bar, but they didn’t have an affair. The only thing the waitress at the bar tells the cops is that he told Miyoung that the house was his first. We know that Chimok was killed by his wife and her lover because he was suffocating her and she’d always had a violent streak. She also killed her parents and sister. But Chimok was on the serial killer’s list too, so this creates a sort of confusion that E-Na is able to see through pretty quickly. The final person to be killed is Do Yonsu, a man with seemingly no connection to the other two, and the hint on the puzzle piece after his murder is a clown.

At the end of Nine Puzzles episode 6, E-Na realizes that the connection between the 3 victims, Miyoung Lee, Kang Chimok, and Do Yonsu, is that they all owned the same house at some point. So the question remains, what happened at this house, and how are these people connected to E-Na’s uncle’s death? At the same time, E-Na has now received 4 puzzle pieces, the first being from her uncle’s death, the second being from Miyoung’s death, with the puzzle piece of somebody being whispered to, the third puzzle piece featuring the body parts being dismembered–after Chimok’s death–and the final one being that of a clown, after Do Yonsu’s death, which leads E-Na to an abandoned amusement park. When E-Na goes to the amusement park, the old security man asks her if she wants to get on the Ferris wheel, and I have a feeling she may have found some clue there that we don’t know about just yet. But the amusement park is about to shut down, so I wonder if the killer’s trying to be a tease and fool E-Na or the cops. Still, something’s definitely going to be at the amusement park.

What Can We Expect Next?

The show is called “Nine Puzzles,” which means there have to be another 5 puzzle pieces before we wrap up. There’s another 5 episodes in the show, so since we’re getting a murder every episode, we can expect another 5 kills at this rate. In the one scene when somebody was drawing on the puzzle piece to indicate the body being dismembered, it looked like a woman. I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’ve got reason to be suspicious of Na-Ri, the police officer. She’s definitely hiding something, but just what, we don’t know yet. She may have some connection with the victims. Additionally, we don’t know how the murders connect to E-Na’s uncle, and that is the main thing that will lead them to the killer.

Hansaem and E-Na’s relationship is also quite an interesting one. I’m not sure why she speaks to him informally when he’s definitely older than her, seeing as she was in high school when he had already become a cop. I suppose he doesn’t genuinely believe she killed her uncle, but he’s unable to figure out who else it could be. But seeing as she’s tied the puzzle pieces together, he’s finally going to get more clues about what happened to her uncle, making him less suspicious of her. Plus, they already act like partners. I’m curious to see what the other puzzle pieces will be and also what the whisper in Miyoung’s ear was.
