‘Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2’ Plot Summary

Ada is a meek and timid police officer who does not fit into the stereotypical image of one. He aspires to become his alter ego in reality. His alter ego does things that he could only dream of. The film starts with one such dream sequence where Ada is fearlessly killing his enemies like it’s just routine work for him. Ada constantly tries to come in the good books of his seniors and prove his worth. But no matter how hard he tries, his colleague Wanessa and his boss, Sergeant Waldemar, consider him no good.

The police are still skeptical about what really happened with Zosia and her fellow campers. The Sergeant goes to the crime scene once again to get some more information and leads. He takes Zosia with him, but something unexpected happens that changes the course of things.

The meteor was still kept inside the house, under the bed. As soon as Zosia sits on the bed, the black liquid starts oozing out, and Zosia becomes a deadly creature like the giant brothers were years ago.

Ada and Wanesaa Go On a Hunt

Zosia, after getting converted, kills Sergeant instantly. When Ada and Wanessa do not get any kind of communication from the Sergeant’s end, they set out to look for him. They call Mariuz and Slawek two buffoons who provide a territorial defense. But Zosia kills them all. A very unusual thing happens when she encounters Ada. she doesn’t kill him. Instead, she converted him into a supernatural creature. Wanessa escapes somehow and hides in the police station.

Ada starts experiencing physical and emotional changes. He does not understand what is happening to him and why Zosia chose not to kill him.

‘Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2’ – Why was Ada taken into Police Custody?

Ada asks Zosia if he is also evil now since he has converted into this menacing-looking creature. But Zosia feels that humankind in itself has so much evil inside them that nothing can supersede that. She believes that we are the least deserving species on the planet and that if any species needed to be extinct for the betterment of the planet, then it was us.

An unlikely romance brews between Zosia and Ada, where they justify their actions and take pleasure in this newfound lust for killing people. They make a list and decide whom to kill first. They go to the Police station, where they again face Wanessa. Ada always had a thing for her, and so he is unable to kill her. Zosia, unable to digest Ada’s feelings towards her, comes forward and kills her brutally. Out of spite, she leaves Ada and goes outside and gets hit by a truck of the forces that came to the rescue. The two brothers commit suicide, where they blast the whole police station. Ada is captured and taken into custody.

In the last scene, we see scientists doing experiments on his body. They try to understand what was that evil liquid that came out from the meteor and tries to find a scientific explanation for the same. The last few scenes set the premise for the third installment, where the makers would try to take the story forward.

In Conclusion

Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2 tries to evoke some emotions and raise some valid points like excessive use of technology and how everything has become virtual and faceless, how people are invoked instantly and are ready to cut each other’s throat. It talks about the evilness that resides in this world and the hate we have for each other.

But still, the narrative is unable to grip you, and at more than one point, it just seems ineffectual. You do not get invested in the characters. Neither you get spooked by the supernatural bit, nor your senses get evoked by its philosophy. The only thing that helps the film is its quick pace of approximately 90 minutes.

Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2 is a 2021 Drama Horror film directed by Bartosz M. Kowalski. It is streaming on Netflix.

I came to Mumbai to bring characters to life. I like to dwell in the cinematic world and ponder over philosophical thoughts. I believe in the kind of cinema that not necessarily makes you laugh or cry but moves something inside you.
