Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale is apparently one of AMC+’s many witchy tales, which I guess I’m all here for. The whimsy show is a coming-of-age, mystery, and social messaging show about witches in a city in England where they can live freely and not be afraid to reveal their powers. However, in the second season, we see people encroach on their territory, making what was once safe for them unsafe, and taking away what little they have for themselves. At the heart of the story is a mother-daughter duo, Sarah and Harper Fenn. A pair of women still trying to navigate their relationship. In the first season, the witchy duo gets arrested for murder, but manages to get out of it, living away from Sanctuary for a year and returning for a second season. This time around, Harper gets to meet her father, a “bound” witch named Lachlan. At the same time, the witches’ public enemy number one, Angela Otis, mayor of Sanctuary, is adamant about ruining Sarah’s life and making it so that all witches reveal themselves in a registry to make sure they can be blamed for everything that goes wrong in Sanctuary. To be fair, Angela’s hatred comes from prejudice, and also because there have been too many murders in the town to ignore. On the other hand is Maggie, a police officer who trusts Sarah and wants to work with her to get to the bottom of the rot in the town, but unfortunately, by the end of the second season, she does not succeed, and she’s also fired for hiding information about Harper being a witch. The ending of the second season sees the mother and daughter split up.
Will Maggie Come Back?
The most shocking thing about the ending of season 2 isn’t that Sarah and Harper split up, but that Maggie was fired, and will likely be arrested for hiding the fact that Harper’s a witch. Sure, Maggie’s intentions have always been justified, but Sanctuary is not going to take what’s happened well, especially after how Luka showed the negative side effects of being a witch. But this doesn’t mean Maggie will go down quietly. She’s always been proactive, and though she’s achieved her one goal, getting justice for Ryan and Pierre’s deaths, I have a feeling the mystery around Pierre still remains. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but Pierre’s killer seemed to have whacked the life out of him, not sucked the life out of him, which is how Luka killed people. Though Luka doesn’t say anything when Angela says he has killed “people,” implying multiple of them. What if Lachlan helped him or made him feel like he killed him? Basically, I don’t trust this man, and I think he’s trying to isolate Sarah and Harper so they’ll take his side. Not that hard when Harper’s mesmerized by her father, but for Sarah, it’ll take a lot more work. Anyway, because of all of this, I think Maggie’s definitely coming back, and with a bang, to save all of Sanctuary. Plus, I love the team of Maggie and Sarah; it’s what makes the show actually fun to watch.
Is Lachlan evil?
This is something I’m not certain about, but I do feel like he’s not a good guy. Sarah is certain he wouldn’t kill a person, but she hasn’t been around him in over a decade, plus we saw his interaction with Robert, making it clear he’s not incapable of killing someone. Sarah trusts him enough to leave Harper in his hands, but she’s still in love with him, which is why she doesn’t see that he can actually be evil. Redhaven seems to be a good idea for now, because witches are in danger, but with the kind of innocent minds Lachlan is recruiting, he just wants control, not an actual rebellion. Ultimately, what he’ll do with these kids might lead to Sarah, as the leader of the Moot, fighting him. That would definitely be interesting to see, and I also think Sarah’s kept that a secret, maybe not even told Harper. So I wonder how things are going to turn out there.
Will Harper and Sarah reunite?
I wish Harper and Sarah hadn’t split up in the first place, but Sarah now wants Harper to feel like she’s independent and like Sarah doesn’t control her. Harper’s been in hiding for too long, and it’s only fair for her to step out of the nest and choose her own path, but I do think this might’ve been the wrong one. However, everyone learns from their mistakes, and Harper will definitely get stronger, considering who she’s with, etc. Plus, she freed her dad from the binding, which is apparently a difficult task. Lachlan was likely only using Luka because he didn’t have his powers at the time. The Starcross Grimoire is also now with Harper, which means Lachlan could use her to do evil things! Or on the other hand, he could be doing a good thing, and the family will come together to save the world from witches, but I think that would be a bit boring and wouldn’t align with the show’s message that much? Let us know what you think in the comments down below, though.
Will Bridget Become A Wedge In Sarah’s Life?
Bridget and Sarah were best friends until Angela came in and made Bridget fall in love with her. Considering how things turned out at their last meeting, Bridget was really upset with Sarah, thinking Luka was innocent. Of course, Sarah was proved right, but how will Bridget recover from this? Will she choose to still not side with Sarah? Will she become another villain? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out. Sarah really needs friends, but it looks like right now she’ll be all by herself. Worst case scenario, she becomes the evil we’ve all been worried she’s going to face (dang).
