Episode 3 of School Spirits season 2 begins with the gang heading out to look for any evidence of Maddie at the Hamilton home. This is, of course, the next day; the fire’s out, but the famous four don’t know if Maddie’s alive or charred to a crisp with the house. This episode focuses more on Rhonda, and maybe this means she’s going to leave us soon, which I don’t like the idea of, but we’ll see. Now it’s a massive gang because not only is Quinn helping out, but Claire has officially switched sides as well. In this episode, we learn a little bit more about Nicole and Simon too, and the dynamics are shifting. So, let’s quickly dive into everything that goes down in season 2, episode 3 of School Spirits.
Spoiler Alert
What Is Sandra Doing?
Xavier learns from the cops that the girl who set the fire did manage to escape it, so that’s some good news. In this episode we see Sandra going to an AA meeting. She also meets Mr. Anderson there, and he’s very empathetic towards her. Sandra has been visiting morgues and places where bodies have been found since Maddie’s disappearance because she feels like, seeing that the bodies are not Maddie, Sandra will feel better. Plus, if it is her, that would give her some sort of closure too. Mr. Anderson learns that she’s going to check a body, which makes him feel terrible, and he tags along. She also confesses about her husband’s death and why she started to turn the alerts on. Mr. Anderson tells her that this isn’t going to help her, but she is suffering from trauma.
How Does Janet End Up at The University?
Janet goes grocery shopping after the fire, but she also uses the restroom to get cleaned up. When she goes to the billing counter, she notices that her bag is missing because she left it in the restroom. Then, as she goes back for it, she can’t find it, so she runs out of the store. Her face is plastered everywhere, so it’s not going to be long till someone catches her, but until then, all she can do is run. A couple of college girls look like they have the bag, so she asks them to stop, but it turns out they didn’t take her bag. They offer her a lift to college because they think she’s a classmate, which she declines at first, but when she notices that the store guy is talking to the authorities, she tells them she’ll go along. When they get there, she somehow prevents them from calling campus security, and in typical college fashion, they invite her to a party.
What Happened During Janet’s 17th?
Apparently, a few years ago the gang held a birthday celebration for Janet because she was not in the best mood. Things were going smoothly at this party, but Janet seemed a little bit agitated or eager. She told Wally that she wanted to make a confession, which he assumed meant “give me a kiss as a gift.” The gang also knows that Mr. Martin and Janet were keeping their objects, which means they had some significance, but what? Quinn helps them realize that they are possibly keys, but to where we don’t exactly know yet. Could be to cross over, but it could be a test as well.
How Does The Gang Learn That Maddie’s At A University?
Claire and Nicole are now essentially roommates, but it turns out Nicole’s brother has visited home. His name is Diego, and he and Claire are definitely going to become a thing; I can feel it. When Diego goes back to school, he finds Maddie there, but she doesn’t recognize him, of course. He tells Nicole immediately, which prompts the gang to go there. Claire realizes that Instagram is the perfect place to check where the girl could be and finds her at a frat party. They go where the party is, but Simon and Xavier get pulled off to the side for drinks by a couple of seniors thinking they’re freshmen. Simon’s made to drink a lot of alcohol, but he’ll survive. At the same time, Maddie’s stealing things from this house so that she can make it out of there fine. She’s caught by one of the girls who invited her, but somehow the cops show up there and everybody runs. Nicole does see Maddie, but Maddie’s too fast for her. Claire ends up outside with Diego, and they run into Maddie. She tries to talk to her, but Maddie just stares at her. Before she can make sense of what’s happening, Nicole, Simon, and Xavier show up, giving Janet enough time to run.
Now it looks like 3 of 4 of the gang members believe that Maddie isn’t Maddie, and that she’s Janet instead. Nicole and Xavier are even on a forum where they’ve been exchanging messages, not knowing who the other is. Claire is the one who is hardest to convert to a believer, but she’ll come around to it.
What Did Rhonda See?
At the same 17th party, Rhonda saw Mr. Martin and Janet fight over something. She couldn’t hear the full conversation, but it had something to do with a watch that Mr. Martin had gifted her. It seems Janet didn’t want to stick to their plan of crossing over together anymore. She also wanted to tell the rest of the gang about their “experiment” and also return their objects to them. Mr. Martin didn’t like this, but Rhonda saw Janet stand up for herself. This made her upset because she would never get the chance to stand up to her guidance counselor, who killed her. Now the gang realizes that Janet definitely wanted to return the objects, but if they are keys, what door do they open?
This memory prompts Rhonda to take her Berkley acceptance letter, her object, and head to the room where she was killed. When she gets near the door, there’s a red light bleeding through under it. Rhonda opens the door to find a recreation of the room back when she was in the school, but it’s all hostile, and she has to relive the memory of the man strangling her. Rhonda quickly runs out of the room, dropping the piece of paper in front of the door.
Where Is Janet Now?
At the end of episode 3 of School Spirits season 2, when Sandra and Mr. Anderson are back home, Sandra notices a silhouette; it is Maddie’s. Shockingly, Maddie says “Mom,” and Sandra runs to give her a hug. This is still Janet, of course. So, why did she return? Janet definitely still looks like she’s in search of something. Maybe she has to go back to school to find it. Or maybe she’ll voluntarily give Maddie’s body back. We also don’t know where Mr. Martin is hiding. So, maybe she’s going back for him. Either way, there’s still a lot left unanswered in School Spirits, so I’m excited to see the new episode.
