‘Sikandar’ Movie Ending Explained & Summary: Is Minister Pradhan Dead?

Published

Sikandar, directed by A.R. Murugadoss, is that kind of film which compels you to wonder why, during the initial stages, nobody objected to the story, the dialogue, the absurdity of events, and all the other aspects that made the film a task to watch? Even the stardom of Salman Khan and the legacy of Murugadoss weren’t able to save the film. The best part about Sikandar is that it didn’t decide to stick around longer than its 2 hours 15 minutes. So, let’s try to make sense of this Salman Khan film and find out what our titular protagonist was up to.

Spoiler Alert

What happened to Sanjay’s wife?

Sanjay was the so-called king of Rajkot, but he had dedicated his life to the welfare of the people. The people of Rajkot loved him, and it was because of the kind of work the man had done over the past few years. Sanjay never wanted to get married in his life, and he wouldn’t have if he hadn’t seen Saisri, his wife, in trouble. We never got to know what she was going through in her life, but she was grateful to Sanjay for marrying her. Sanjay never had time for Sai, not because he didn’t love her, but because he was always busy with his philanthropic duties. Sanjay’s family owned 25 percent of the country’s gold reserves, and after his father passed away, the responsibility of running the gold mine fell on his shoulders.

Apart from the family business, Sanjay had all sorts of things to see to, and he never really had time for his wife or even himself. He liked helping people out, which kept him occupied throughout the day. Sanjay probably would have been aware of that fact, which was why he never wanted to get married. There were times when Sai had to wait for days to talk to her husband, and that made her feel a bit lonely. When Sai finally got pregnant, she believed that having a kid would probably change things for her, so she would have something to look forward to. Despite that feeling of loneliness, Sai never doubted her husband’s intentions. She knew what she had signed up for, and she had no qualms about it. Sai always looked out for Sanjay, as she knew how men could be at times. She knew how selfless he was and that he wouldn’t even bat an eye before putting his life at risk.

The life of this royal couple went sideways when Sanjay’s manager, without consulting with him, sold a huge quantity of the explosives that they often used for mining excavations. Those explosives were then used to orchestrate a terror attack in Punjab. Another incident that happened a few days prior to that had an impact on Sanjay’s life. Sanjay was on a plane when he saw a rich, spoiled brat treating a woman disrespectfully. Sanjay taught the boy a lesson, and later, we came to know that he was the son of a powerful minister named Rakesh Pradhan. Pradhan tried to clean the image of his son by stating that the video where his son had been made to apologize to the woman was a deep-fake. Coming back to the incident with the explosives, a few people enraged by what had happened in Punjab, and also by the humiliation that Arjun had to go through on the flight, came to Rajkot with the intention of killing Sanjay’s manager so the entire blame of the attack would be transferred to Sanjay. Sanjay arrived at the scene just in time, and he saved the manager’s life. What Sanjay didn’t notice in the chaos was that a piece of shrapnel from the explosive had severely injured Sai. Sai didn’t get a chance to tell Sanjay that she was injured, and later, Sanjay came to know through one of his men, Amar, that she was in the hospital. Sai succumbed to her injuries, and eventually, Sanjay felt guilty for what had happened.

How did Minister Pradhan’s son die?

Sanjay got to know that Sai had donated her organs: lungs, eyes, and heart, and he wanted to know who the recipients were who had gotten them. Sanjay’s family doctor gave him the information he needed, but he requested him not to tell anybody about it as he was not allowed to give out such confidential details. Sanjay personally went to meet the three individuals, all of whom were based out of Mumbai. A young boy named Kamruddin who lived in the slums, whose parents had abandoned him when he was quite young, had gotten Sai’s lungs. Nisha, a teenager, had gotten Sai’s heart, and Vaidehi, a homemaker, had gotten her eyes. Sanjay’s sole intention behind meeting them was to remove every obstacle that came their way so that a part of Sai could live through them. Symbolically, they all carried a little bit of Sai within them. Sanjay believed that though he had failed to be there for Sai when she needed him the most, he could repent by looking out for these three recipients.

During this process, Sanjay had another encounter with Pradhan and his son when he got stuck in a traffic jam due to the minister’s rally. The police constable spotted Sanjay in the traffic jam, and they informed Pradhan’s son, Arjun, about it. At first, Arjun didn’t believe the constable, but then, when Sanjay’s picture was projected on the big screen, he realized that he was actually there. Arjun decided to take revenge on Sanjay and teach him a lesson. That was the biggest blunder he made, as while chasing Sanjay, Arjun fumbled and dropped a molotov in his own car. The car caught fire and then finally crashed, killing everybody who was inside it. Logically speaking, it was not Sanjay’s fault that Arjun had died, but the wicked politician blamed Sanjay for his loss. Minister Pradhan decided to go after Sanjay and make him pay for his actions.

Did Sanjay Kill Minister Pradhan?

Sanjay got involved in the lives of the three recipients, and he decided to solve the respective problems that they were facing. A lot of land in the slum area where Kamruddin lived had been bought by a businessman who wanted to start a profitable venture there. A man named Virat Bakshi was the middleman who was handling everything. Sanjay bought all the land from him and also made sure that the air quality of the area improved. Sanjay, after meeting Vaidehi, realized that she wanted to work, but her family, especially her father-in-law, was against it. Sanjay solved her problems too, and she started a business of her own where she could actually do something productive with her time. Sanjay made the third recipient, who got Sai’s heart, realize that the guy she was after was not good for her. Nisha’s parents knew that the boy had never loved her and that he was not a trustworthy person. It took time, but Sanjay was able to make the young girl realize that she shouldn’t be so blinded by love that she couldn’t see the reality, i.e. her beloved was a toxic man pretending to be an alpha male.

In Sikandar’s ending, Sanjay and Minister Pradhan came face to face, and the confrontation didn’t end well for the latter. Minister Pradhan tried everything in his power to make Sanjay’s life a living hell. He was ready to go to any extreme length to hurt Sanjay. Pradhan found out the identity of the recipients, and he tried going after them, too, knowing how attached Sanjay was to them. The support of the people was Sanjay’s strength, and not only in Rajkot, he enjoyed that support in Mumbai when the people realized what he had done for the children of the slums, how he had fought the corrupt system, and so they made sure that nobody was able to hurt him. Sanjay ensured that Pradhan came to the realization that he wasn’t scared of him and that he could ruin his career if he decided to step into politics. Sanjay didn’t kill Pradhan, as he knew that his one warning would be more than enough. Pradhan was shocked as, probably for the first time, he felt threatened, and moreover, he’d faced somebody who was just as invincible as he thought he was. In the end, Sanjay achieved what he had set out for, and he would probably go back to his city and keep working for the cause of the people. So yes, it was a happy ending for everyone except for those who had to sit and suffer through the film.
