‘Single’s Inferno’ Season 4 Episodes 7-8 Recap & Review: Who Does Jun-Seo Pick?

Published

Why did Single’s Inferno extend itself by two episodes in its second season, but only a single episode every season after? Hmm, curious, but also is this show really that popular? With all the shenanigans this season, I suppose it is. Finally, after 8 episodes, I think I’ve got everyone’s names down, which feels like a huge achievement to me. Despite not having seen all seasons, I think this might end up being the most scandalous of the lot, especially because of what we’ve seen in episode 7. I have got to admit, though, the makers of the show definitely don’t hide their bias for Si-An. I love the girl, but give the others a small chance too, eh? Also, I’m glad to see You-Jin pluck up some courage this time around, and I love the discourse we’re seeing online around her, because yes, she deserves much better! But with that said, let’s jump straight into episodes 7 and 8 of Single’s Inferno season 4.

Spoiler Alert

What Happens In Paradise?

Cryptic title, I know, but we’ve got some tea this episode. Episode 7 begins with the 3 couples, Si-An and Jun-Seo, A-Rin and Dong-Ho, and Ji-Yeon and Tae-Hwan, heading off to Paradise. This is the first time for Ji-Yeon, Tae-Hwan, and A-Rin, whereas the others are basically veterans at this point. The popular kids, if you will. The judges find it shocking that Tae-Hwan is older than Ji-Yeon, over 30 years of age, and is a DJ. Clearly, they misjudged him, and for what, I don’t know. A-Rin’s a model, and Ji-Yeon’s a space director. Ji-Yeon and Tae-Hwan have the most fun date going ice skating; they definitely look the most at ease with each other. They’re both tremendously calm and mature, which does feel nice to see. Makes you want to root for them. I want to say the same about A-Rin and Dong-Ho, but the judges seem determinedly against this pairing despite calling A-Rin adorable when she’s happy to be with Dong-Ho. Apparently, there isn’t enough spice here, so he might choose Hae-Lin. The conversations here go very smoothly, and after getting to know each other’s jobs and ages, the two couples settle quite easily. Lee Da-Hee also admits that Tae-Hwan and Ji-Yeon’s date is the one she’s envied the most on the show so far, which, dang, send more people on ice skating dates!

However, the real “goss” in this episode comes from Si-An and Jun-Seo. The duo opens up casually by figuring out who the older of the two is. Jun-Seo’s really good at making people feel at ease, and he does the same with Si-An. They spend some time in the room together, and he realizes she’s not having the best time. It is when they start drinking that they really get to the juicy bits. The reason Si-An’s been down lately is because she’s super confused, and that makes her feel like a bad person. She doesn’t like what she’s become, and having so many choices makes her feel overwhelmed. Surprisingly, Si-An says the person on her mind the most right now is Theo and not Jeong-Su, which I love for Theo, but unfortunately, it doesn’t last long because Jun-Seo essentially swoops in and completely bulldozes the other two guys with ease. It seems Jun-Seo knows how to handle vulnerable people, and Si-An becomes a puddle after opening up about how she’s feeling. This is when he swoops in and makes her feel better, immediately going up to the number one spot on Si-An’s list.

However, the really shocking part is, when it’s bedtime, they end up sharing a bed. An uncommon feat on Single’s Inferno (at least from what I’ve seen). The judges are also surprised by this unexpected outcome. But more importantly, they’re not just sleeping in the same bed but quite close to each other, even hugging, etc. They also do a lot of talking in their drunk state. I don’t know how a grown man being the “maknae” of the group makes a difference to him choosing to be in the same bed as a woman, but the guy’s 28, so the judges reminding us that he’s the youngest of the men was really quite strange, especially since all the women are younger (except You-Jin, who’s the same age as him). On the other hand, Jeong-Su and Hye-Jin have a word back in the Inferno, and he tells her that he’s got Si-An on his mind. However, later, when he’s talking to Hae-Lin, he tells her that he’s not sure about his feelings. Like this man is really torturing these girls right now. The true villain of the series, if you ask me. He’s definitely digging himself a deep hole, though, and Si-An’s moved on, so really I’m not worried.

Who Does Jun-Seo Choose to Go to Paradise With?

In episode 8, Si-An straightens Jun-Seo’s hair out as previously promised. The three couples return to the Inferno, where a bunch of scowls await them. I say this because Hae-Lin and You-Jin have kind of gone into “we like each other because we have a common enemy” ground. While they’re both after Dong-Ho, they prefer hating on A-Rin together rather than gushing over Dong-Ho, I guess. Well, it’s not exactly hate, but they don’t want to hear about how things went for her, and I guess the editing of the show kind of blows it out of proportion. However, Si-An and A-Rin are super close, and Si-An specifically asks A-Rin in the room how things went. Of course, this makes the other two a little bit annoyed, though it’s no fault of A-Rin. Now, soon after, the boys are made to play a game of “Ssireum,” a type of Korean wrestling. You may have seen it in the Netflix show Like Flowers In Sand. Anyway, you already know what the result of this game is going to be, but a big chunk of this episode is spent on the game itself.

Jun-Seo is number one (obviously, and dubbed the “beast” now); Jeong-Su is second, and again, surprisingly, Tae-Hwan is third. Guess these hosts really need to stop judging the underdog, eh? Soon after the game, before the boys get to choose their date in Paradise, everyone has a chance to talk in the Inferno. Theo immediately seeks out Si-An and tells her that she shouldn’t feel pressured to be with him, but he’s not going to change his mind. He’ll be sad if she chooses somebody else, but she should definitely choose based on her happiness. Soon after, Jun-Seo asks to speak with Theo, not Si-An. He tells him honestly that he knows Theo has always had his eyes on Si-An, but he also wants to get close to her. The two of them have a nice adult conversation about how Si-An’s the one who gets to decide, but they’ll both try their best. On the other hand, Hae-Lin also tells Dong-Ho that she’s chosen him and she’s sure she wants to give them a try. She’s very straightforward with how she feels. Soon after, You-Jin also talks with Dong-Ho and tells him that she wants to go to Paradise with him so they can also get to know each other a little bit. You-Jin tells him that he should tell her if things are getting uncomfortable if he’s made up his mind about one of the girls already. He says it isn’t uncomfortable, but he’s not sure how all these people are suddenly into him and wonders if he did something wrong (mate, this is a dating show, but okay). You-Jin tells him that he’s close to their ideal type, which is probably why he’s become popular now. I would like to see these two in Paradise too; it might have a surprising result, plus, like the judges said, Dong-Ho’s a good guy, eh?

Finally, Jun-Seo has a word with Min-Seol and Si-An, asking both of them if they want to go to Paradise. Interestingly, he asks her if she’s interested in any of the other guys, and she says Jong-Hoon. Now, I suppose Jun-Seo’s asking her this to know if he’s her only option, but here clearly she’s overjoyed to be with him, so it’s a shame he doesn’t get the hint. On the other hand, Ji-Yeon tells Tae-Hwan in a mature way that despite them having a great time in Paradise, if he feels like it, he should take someone else this time. They’ve both not had a chance to talk to any other people, so they don’t know if their minds can change. I’m not going to lie, though; it’ll be shocking if he chooses someone else.

At the end of Single’s Inferno episode 8, Jun-Seo chooses Si-An over Min-Seol to go to Paradise with. This is definitely going to bring tons of drama. On the other hand, now we don’t know who Jeong-Su is going to pick, but the general consensus is Hae-Lin, seeing as he told Hye-Jin that he was into Si-An. Also, this date in Paradise is a group event, so things might get out of hand, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
