‘Territory’ Season 2 Theories: Did Emily Cheat On Graham?

Published

Netflix’s Territory season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, and there is a lot that is yet to be ascertained, pertaining to the dynamic shared by the surviving members of the Lawson family. Territory season 1 made us privy to the family politics and also the conflicts that came in the way of the Lawson family due to the interference of third parties. As of now, there hasn’t been any official announcement for Territory season 2, but I do believe that the creators will extend the storyline and at least give closure to the characters.

Spoiler Alert

Why did Emily cheat on Graham?

In season 1, we saw that Emily felt that she was the most deserving candidate to lead the Lawson empire, whereas Graham believed that it was his birthright to be the heir to the empire. Colin always had a condescending attitude towards his eldest son, and he believed that he was not fit to rule his empire. Colin always favored his younger son, Dan, but after his death, he didn’t have much of an option. Colin never wanted Graham to be in charge of his business, but he still went on to support his son as he didn’t want any interference in his business from people like Sandra Kirby. Sandra was a billionaire, and she had been eyeing a takeover of the Lawson empire for a very long time. She had almost finalized a deal with Dan secretly, but his untimely death spoiled her plans. Then she thought of making a deal with Graham and got him released from prison. But that move backfired as Graham decided to stay loyal to his father and prove to him that he was worthy of leading the empire. Emily knew that she had betrayed her husband’s trust. She’d shared a romantic relationship with Campbell, as she never got what she desired from Graham. Graham’s weakness was that he was addicted to alcohol, and he just couldn’t control his impulses. He would have become the president of the Cattlemen Association, but he spoiled his own chances by getting drunk during the voting. But after Graham served time in prison, he was a changed man; he wanted to mend things. He knew that Emily had gone behind his back and gotten romantically involved with Campbell. But he didn’t give her a hard time, as he knew that it was his fault she didn’t feel invested, and she lost faith in their relationship.

I believe that if there is a Territory season 2, then we will see Graham and Emily getting closer than ever and bridging the gap that had been created between them. They had lost their daughter, and they both were extremely heartbroken. They literally gave it their all to bring back the lost glory and take their empire to new heights. Even Colin was pretty impressed by what he saw, and he finally made up his mind to hand over the reins to Graham and Emily.

Why did Elton go against Emily?

Colin had just handed over the keys to his mansion to Emily when Elton arrived out of nowhere and told Colin something that he was unaware of. He came with Dan’s horse and the bullet casings that were proof of the fact that he had been shot by someone. Colin understood that it was Emily who had killed his son, though he didn’t know how exactly everything had transpired. There was vengeance in Colin’s eyes, and it felt like he had lost all the trust that Graham and Emily had taken decades to build. Previously, Elton and Emily had made a deal of sorts, and at that moment, it felt like he was not going to reveal anything to Colin. But Elton backstabbed Emily in the worst possible manner, and I couldn’t decipher why he would do that when he was present during the shootout, and he clearly saw that it was Campbell who had blown up the sacred site. I personally don’t know if that was the only reason he went against her or not, but considering the kind of man he was, I believe that was some strong motive that made him reveal the truth to Colin.

In Territory season 2, we will get to know about Elton’s real intentions. I believe that somewhere, he was looking out for his own vested interests, and he had some tiff against Emily that nobody knew about. I believe Emily would have definitely favored him once she would have taken charge of things, but Elton taking that extreme step meant that he probably had something else on his mind. Elton helped Emily, Graham, and their gang in the shootout against Campbell, and that’s why Emily hadn’t expected that he would do something like that. Colin’s rage would either make him spoil everything, or maybe he would have a change of heart and understand Emily’s perspective.

What would be Sandra’s next move?

As for Sandra, she was still out there, and I don’t think that she would give up on her dream of taking over the Lawson empire so easily. Sandra’s relationship with her son, Lachie, will definitely take a hit once she gets to know that he has gone behind her back and told Emily about her plans to dispose of nuclear waste in that land. It was not an easy task for Sandra to do what she had set out for, but then she was not somebody who would give up so easily. Sandra was an ambitious woman, and I believe that she could go to any extent to get what she wanted. She will definitely play and have an impact on the lives of Emily, Graham and Colin in the subsequent season. Also, I believe that native people are going to play an important role in the scheme of things, and they could be the biggest hurdle in Sandra’s way. It would be interesting to see what destiny has in store for the various characters in Territory season 2 and if they are able to achieve what they want.
