Season 2 of the highly engaging Thai drama The Believers graced our screens on the 4th of December 2025. The second season takes off with the entrepreneurs now under the control of Ae, a politically charged woman eager to make it big with the help of the trio that made bucks through Buddhist temples. But Win and Game give Dear a way out; they let her leave the country, telling Ae that they don’t need her to help out. This is her exit ticket for the moment, until Win drags her back by the end of the show because he really needs help to save his family. This brings her and Dol back to the heart of the problem, the thing they both really wanted to get away from. The second season focuses on Ae’s ambition and her eventual downfall. Meanwhile, Win and his family learn of a secret thanks to his new friend, Sue. This changes everything by the end of the show, but despite it all, the end of the show is unbelievably bleak and uncalled for. With that said, though, let’s jump straight into the ending of The Believers season 2.
Spoiler Alert
Is Win’s Dad Alive?
Throughout season 2 of The Believers, we get flashbacks with the character named Sue. Sue used to be a student of Anuwat, Win’s father, 18 years ago. Now, Anuwat was ordered to be murdered by Wut’s guys. But he survived, making Sue a witness to his almost murder. Anuwat was still alive, but he never went back to his family, and in the present day, when Win’s mother finds him, after visiting 9 temples, he’s near dead, barely able to breathe, but this is good evidence against Wut. Win’s father being alive changes a lot of things for Wut. Sue still has the bullet that was put in Anuwat’s head. Anuwat and Wut were friends and members of the same temple back in the day. But as Yod points out, Wut ordered the father shot, and Ae shot the son, making for an interesting parallel.
While Wut is certain he can’t be arrested, and he thinks Yod is too naive to think all the evidence that was saved up by the abbot against him isn’t enough to get him arrested, Ae leaves the country because she knows she’s in big trouble. Ae killed her own brother, but everybody thinks it’s some sort of political game; even Wut doesn’t seem to believe his daughter would do such a thing, or maybe he was lying to himself. Aun was an illegitimate son, but maybe because he was a boy, Wut cared for him more than he did for Ae. He didn’t view Ae as capable of anything, but as Ae sees it, she thinks her father believes she’s better than he is, which is why he doesn’t give her the love and respect she deserves. I think Ae’s only goal was to be respected by her father, and it’s possible that the fact that she’s escaped while her father is stuck will eventually buy her that respect, but I might be overthinking things.
Are Win and Game Free?
The reason Win and Game continue to work with the temple is that they’re forced to by Ae, who wants to build a hospital. She gets them to collect one billion baht and keeps their family hostage in the process, forcing them to work for her. At this time, Game becomes contemplative of the situation and even speaks to the Abbot about it, but in the meantime, Win tries to figure out the best way for them to get rid of this connection with Ae for good. What this leads to is a bigger mess than they ever could’ve imagined. Win gets shot by Ae, and Game gets stuck in the process, because Win has all the details of the money and where it is. But this is all a ruse, because the ultimate plan is to get Wut arrested, and for this, they need the help of Dear and Dol.
Dear and Dol find substantial evidence of Wut’s wrongdoing in the abbot’s office thanks to the help of Ekachai. Ekachai also asks Dear to make copies for him, possibly because he wants to use them in the future. There’s clear evidence of embezzlement, and Dear is finally happy she can rejoin her friends and work with them again, but for something that won’t end up being illegal. But anyway, when the time is right, Win, who was pretending to be unconscious for a while, wakes up and transfers the billion baht to Wut. But this is obviously not enough for the politician, who still blames them for Aun’s death. However, this is when the police bring Wut in, and Win and Game get the respite they’re looking for. But this isn’t the end of this mess; this is simply the beginning, because what they find out after this is more than shocking.
What Happens To Dear?
In The Believers season 2’s ending, the woman who works for Ae shoots Dear while she’s sitting in the car, and Dol has just stepped out to get some stuff. This is right after Dear asked Dol to join her, finally sparking that romance between them. But by the time Dol gets to Dear, she’s already gone, because she was shot in the head. Dol calmly grabs her head and asks somebody to call an ambulance, but it’s too late; Dear’s long dead, and when she’s taken away, he breaks down for the first time in the whole series. Dol clearly had feelings for Dear, and this is also probably why he left his monkhood, feeling inclined to be romantically involved with her. But even a little bit of friendship was enough for him to feel a connection with her.
In the middle of the season, when Dol realized he didn’t want people to pay for his sermons, he decided to stop working with Dear, but he’s always drawn to her again and again, and he’s always certain about one thing, and that is that he wants to help her. But ultimately, he failed to do that, too. Is it that Dol feels he’s incapable of being happy? Probably, but it’s a shame it had to be Dear who lost her life when it’s all the men who made the real mistakes. At the beginning of the season, when Dear left and decided to go live with her father, Ae told the boys she was letting her go, but ultimately, she stabbed them in the back because Dear came back and helped them find evidence against her father. This is what led to her ultimate death, all while Ae escaped herself. Still, at the end of all of this, Dol makes sure the evidence is passed on to the cops, because that’s the good deed he and Dear were meant to do together.
Game and Win (in a wheelchair) visit a hospital in which Dear’s body lies, because she donated her body for medical training. When they see the body, both of them break down and remember the first time they met, making their dreams come true. In the flashback, Dear isn’t really interested in this startup at all, because she’s got a full-time job and doesn’t want to lose everything. But Game still tries to persuade her while Win is late. Ultimately, when he shows up, Dear is ready to leave, but she decides in the last moment that she wants to be a part of this cool project. If only she had driven away, she’d still be alive, and now Win blames himself for her death (he did drag her back), but Game points out that he is also responsible in a way.
Does Ekachai Become The Abbot?
4 months after Dear’s death, Ekachai is investing funds in the stock market. Meanwhile, the foundation account, which was frozen earlier, is now free to use, and the funds have been returned to the temple, too. I think this means the one billion baht, which would imply Wut is definitely in prison. Ekachai is told by the higher-ups that he should restart the hospital project now, and at the same time, Ekachai has finally achieved his goal of becoming the abbot, but there’s still one problem here. If you remember episode 4, there was a woman who showed up and told the monk that she was going to expose him if he didn’t give her 200,000 baht. We don’t know exactly what she was talking about, but one of the young children got a video of Ekachai choking this woman to death. Now, the higher-ups in the monk hierarchy are holding onto that video, essentially to keep Ekachai on a leash. To be honest, I still can’t tell if Ekachai is a good person or not. He did get Dear and Dol the evidence they needed, but what if that was just a ticket to his own freedom? Plus, he has a copy of all the stuff the previous abbot made a note of, which means he has more evidence of embezzlement and corruption amongst the monks, possibly.
On the other hand, there’s a small glimpse of Dol returning to his monkhood, and I’m not sure about you, but I thought it was an older man who was being bathed soon after. What if that was Win’s father? We didn’t really see Anuwat after his wife visited him. What if he’s miraculously doing okay now? He can also come out of hiding thanks to his enemy’s arrest. But the show does end on Ekachai’s face, making it clear he’s going to be the most important character in the next season. But his intentions are still unknown to us. But on the other hand, we can also expect Win and Game to gear up for revenge against Ae because she got Dear killed.
