Wow, that was another episode of The Boys Season 4 that was dull as a dishwasher. In a very cold manner, the episode dropped Sister Sage and Homelander’s grand scheme to take over the greatest White country in the world. So basically, the new evil duo had been planning a coup against their political nemesis, Robert Singer, who wants to keep the supes in check through rules and regulations. But our baby boy, Homelander, yearns for absolute freedom so that he can butcher people on the streets. [Spoiler Alert] But as you might have sensed from the episode, Homelander is just John Doe, born with certain privileges because of which he is able to intimidate people. He likes to flaunt his big guns with that perfect smile, but when it comes to talking, the man fails pathetically. He is your regular “rockstar” who speaks of saving the nation, but you know that they don’t know a single thing about history or politics. So in this intricate plan to take over the county, Homelander decided to put aside his ego to play the brawn while Sage was the brain of the operation.
The duo, along with a few other members of the Seven, arrived at Tek Knight’s mansion party to meet and greet some bureaucrats and other affluent industrialists. Sage’s plan was simple: use Homelander as the poster boy and convince these important figures to pledge their loyalty to Victoria Neuman so that she could replace Singer in the upcoming elections. However, before Sage could explain the course of action, she was shot in the head by MM. Our guy here was already having a rough day, and he got extremely panicky when Sage brought his daughter into the conversation and tried to raise the alarm at Tek Knight’s mansion. MM believed that Sage was vulnerable to physical attacks, and he wasn’t wrong, but he shot her at the wrong spot. As previously mentioned by The Boys Season 4, Sage’s brain is an ever-growing organ in her body, which is why she had to often keep it in check and perform lobotomies too to prevent her brain from popping out of her skull. You can imagine Mojo Jojo for better visualization.
Nevertheless, when MM shot her in the head, it pierced her brain, but it didn’t kill her. The wound was healed due to her superpowers, but while her brain was regenerating, she lost her “smartness” for the time being and therefore started to act like a child with low IQ. Meanwhile, Homelander was getting impatient and wanted Sage to lay out their plan to the crowd, but Sage wasn’t in a position to do anything except eat cakes. Unwillingly, Homelander had to take the lead, but the brainy businessmen started asking all the technical questions, which Homelander failed to fathom. He looked at Sage for help, but she had no idea what was happening because of her wound. Fortunately, Neuman took control of the room and spoke the right words, which Homelander wouldn’t have been able to come up with. She promised a capitalistic government that would favor corporations without any restrictions. Now, you may have a question about why Homelander wasn’t able to think of these words. The reason is that Homelander has always been a narcissist who often fails to put himself in other people’s shoes, which is extremely important when you are dealing with humans.
Now, as you know, a narcissist hates another narcissist, yet Sage convinced Homelander to team up with Tek Knight, not only because of his affluent connections but also because of his prisons. That was an extremely important part of the episode. I guess Sage and Homelander had been trying to take over the government by force or turn American democracy into a totalitarian dictatorship, which was the only reason why they would turn Tek Knight’s prison into internment camps, which is just another term for concentration camps. So coming back to our Sister Sage’s plan, she knew that not every person in the country would abide by Homelander’s dictatorship, and therefore, there might be a lot of noise in the streets. So Homelander and all the supes would use their might to lock these rebels in Tek Knight’s camp, just like his ancestors used to do. Yes, that’s a really scary situation even to think of, and scarier because it comes from Sister Sage. She had already told Homelander to think like Julius Caesar, but now it seems like no matter what Homelander does, he is always going to end up becoming another Hitler, mostly because of his nature. And Sage, pretending to be the smartest person on the planet, has no idea what kind of a monster she is dealing with. So my parting question is: Will Hughie and Starlight be able to stop Sage’s sinister plan? Or would they really need another monster like Butcher to stop Homelander? Well, I guess we know the answers and how season 4 is setting up for a grand finale in the next season.
