You see, Ron’s not a bad guy. We know there’s a darkness to him, but there’s a light too. The thing is, Ron just gets overexcited by stuff and starts pursuing it to the brink of madness. He wants to prove to the world that he’s capable of good work, but the concern here is that he doesn’t like asking for help. He wants to accomplish things all by himself so he can share news of his victories with his friends and family, but it does not always end in victory, right? Ron will let his problems bother him to the point he can’t take it anymore, but we haven’t reached that tipping point yet. In episode 2 of The Chair Company, Ron finds a new lead to follow on the Tecca investigation, and through this evidence, he finally tracks down the guy who had attacked him in the parking lot. But is he any help? Well, let’s find out.
Spoiler Alert
Ron Tracks Down Mike Santini
In the previous episode, Mike had left behind his shirt, so Ron started looking it up on the internet to track down his guy. He had even picked up the iron rod Mike had used to knock him down. Ron even ordered a fingerprint kit from Amazon, hoping it would be of some help. Even I am not sure what Ron was thinking while placing that order. You need a fingerprint database to match a fingerprint, right? Well, Ron’s more or less like a kid in that regard, who doesn’t think much before doing anything, so we can’t blame him for wasting money on useless junk. With the amount he had spent to track down Mike, he could have easily bought a new chair, or maybe two, but we are not here to look for logic in Ron’s actions. Ron drove to the construction site for his interview with Sarah Rounds but in between took a detour to inquire about Mike’s shirt, hoping the salesman would recognize him. Well, long story short, it was a dead end. However, the salesman did tell him that there was some kind of white dust on the shirt, which Ron later recognized came from the white pebbles outside the office. He quickly ran to the spot and found some beer cans and a takeout food container from Jan’s Cafe. That gave Ron the idea that Mike was waiting for him there and attacked him as soon as he came out of the office. Ron didn’t waste a moment and went straight to Jan’s Cafe, hoping someone would remember the customer from the previous night, but he was a bit taken aback when he found out that Mike worked there as security.
Mike Doesn’t Work For Tecca
Mike didn’t want Ron to create a ruckus at his workplace and therefore quickly pulled him into the backroom, threatening to break into his house and knock him down in front of his wife. This was when Ron had enough and started screaming at the top of his lungs, which scared Mike a bit, as he didn’t want his employer to find out that he goes around beating people up for easy money. Mike tried to get rid of Ron, but our guy’s very persistent. Ron wouldn’t leave without answers. He started shouting again and asked Mike why he attacked him and what his relationship with Tecca was. To his surprise, Mike didn’t even know what Tecca was. Someone had hired him to scare Ron off so he wouldn’t poke his nose into affairs that didn’t concern him. Ron wanted a name, but Mike told him that he had never met him before; however, he could find this guy if Ron paid him. For someone who was happy to spend 180 dollars on a fingerprint kit and 50 dollars on a store membership, paying Mike off didn’t seem like a bad deal, but Ron wasn’t aware of the fact that by associating with someone like Mike, he was making a deal with the devil, which might cost him heavily. In the end, Mike gave Ron an extra phone (I think it was a burner) so he could contact him once he had found the guy.
Ron’s A Family Man
The previous episode of The Chair Company revealed that Ron and Barb’s daughter, Natalie, is getting married to a beautiful girl, Tara. The family had initially booked a venue called Salisbury (or something like that), but Tara and Natalie had found a new venue. They wanted to book Erebus, which looked like a haunted barn. The issue here was that Tara’s parents were not happy with the last-minute change of venue, but Tara really wanted to get married in Erebus, so Natalie asked her parents to convince Tara’s father. Ron didn’t want to break his daughter’s heart and therefore invited Tara’s parents over for a game night, so he could convince them for the sake of their children’s happiness. But as you already know, Ron’s been juggling a lot of things, so little pieces of his life are going to collide with each other. Mike called Ron on the same day he had planned the game night with Tara’s parents. He had found his guy, who went by the name of Jim X. Mike wanted him to meet him later that night, but Ron already had plans. He tried to explain, but Mike didn’t listen. He told him, “We are going tonight,” and hung up the call. Here, it may seem that Ron didn’t have a choice, but trust me, he did. He could have simply not gone out looking for his mystery man and gone back home to be with his family, but alas, he didn’t. Somewhere at the back of his mind, Ron was aware of the fact that he hadn’t been able to give enough time to the construction project and his family because of this Tecca thing, yet he was consciously ignoring those signs to pursue his obsession. He knew he wasn’t doing the right thing, but Tecca had become an itch he couldn’t stop scratching.
Mike Has A Gun
Mike told Ron that their guy, Jim X, conducted all his business out of the parking lot of a self-storage space. His plan was to ambush him out there. However, Ron quickly corrected him. He said he didn’t want to ambush him. He just wanted to ask him about Tecca. It seemed like Mike had been in this line of business for quite a long time, and knew how things could go wrong in a matter of seconds. That was why he brought a gun with him, so Jim X wouldn’t waste their time. But as soon as Ron saw the gun, he freaked out. The man hadn’t hurt a fly in his life. He was a corporate employee. A family man looking for answers. He didn’t want to go out there doing GTA stuff. Ron asked Mike to stop the car and quickly left for home, as he didn’t want to lose family because of his obsessions.
Now this is just my theory, but it seems to me that Tecca is not a legit company. I mean, you already know that, but what I am trying to say here is someone made a website and did all that branding to make it look like an actual company, while the reality is someone is running the company or taking orders out of a self-storage space. What they might be doing is importing unbranded chairs or other office furniture from overseas and selling it all as their own. It’s also quite easy these days to place a manufacturing order for unbranded furniture in bulk and sell it under your brand. Dropshipping isn’t illegal, but deceiving your customers indeed counts as a crime, and this could be the reason why whoever is running the show here doesn’t want Ron to get to the bottom of the truth.
Someone Breaks Into Ron’s House
Back at home, Ron finally talked to Tara’s father, Terry, and told him how much that venue meant to their daughters. Terry was quite moved by Ron’s words and therefore agreed to whatever their kids desired. Ron hadn’t been able to do much for his kids lately, but this seemed like an accomplishment, and it made him extremely happy for the first time in a very long time. He even noticed the spy-hat hanging off his son, Seth’s college bag, that Ron had previously given to him. Seems like the 180 dollars weren’t a complete waste after all. Ron’s a difficult guy, but his family adores him, and to me, that seems like a victory. I am just concerned that he doesn’t end up ruining it all just because a faulty chair hurt his ego. It felt like Ron was finally ready to move on from the Tecca incident, but an unexpected text message pulled him back into the whirlpool.
In The Chair Company episode 2’s ending, Ron received a text from an unknown number on the burner phone that Mike had given to him. It was a picture of him clicked seconds ago, which made him realize that someone was inside his house and hiding in the room next to the main entrance. The episode ended before Ron could open the door. Here, one could theorize that it was Mike who broke into Ron’s house, because earlier it was him who had threatened to beat him in front of his family. But the question here is, why would Mike do that? Especially if he wasn’t the person Ron was looking for? Well, this mysterious stalker could be anyone, but if they have the number of Ron’s burner, it’s possible that it is either Mike or Jim X. Maybe Mike went to see Jim alone and told him about his plan. Here, Jim might have paid him extra to scare Ron more so he would give up his pursuit, or Jim attacked Mike, took his phone, and drove straight to Ron’s house to show him what he was capable of. Alternatively, it is possible that it was Mike who followed Ron home and sneaked into his house, clicking pictures of him so he could extort more money from him. The second theory seems more plausible because Mike’s just a simple security guy, and he just wants to make a quick buck. And if you ask me, Ron seems to be like a perfect mark for him. He won’t let him go so easily. But these are just my thoughts on the ending of The Chair Company episode 2, and I would love to know what you think about who this mystery stalker could be.
