‘The Manny’ Season 3 Ending Explained & Finale Recap: Will There Be A Season 4?

Published

I’ve got to admit, The Manny was a fun show when it started off, and way more interesting than the title makes it sound. The second season also had a decent plot, though it got quite soapy with the overdramatic love triangle stuff. But I think season 3 is the dullest of the show so far, and I have a feeling there won’t be any more coming, which would be a good decision. The ending of the 3rd season also feels quite final, and we get what we’ve wanted since the show started. Also, the kids each get what they wanted too, and it is the ultimate happy ending, so I suppose this is the high it should end on. Additionally, whatever family drama there could’ve been has already been covered, so if anything, the show will feel very repetitive and boring. This season felt quite dragged on after everything that Gabriel and Jimena went through last season. It felt unnecessary to try to split them up yet again, because the odds were already in their favor. Even the kids became okay with their mother dating the nanny, so really, they should’ve moved on, or maybe there was no reason for this season, but here we are. Anyway, I don’t want to turn this into some kind of rant, so instead, let’s jump into the ending of The Manny season 3.

Spoiler Alert

What’s Happening With the Kids?

Season 3 saw Leo feel somewhat neglected, because there were two new babies in his life. One is Emma, Gabriel’s child, and then also his stepsister on his dad’s side, making him feel like he’s not the center of everyone’s attention anymore. But Gabriel comes to the rescue as usual, and when Leo starts to take photos of everyone, getting them to say his pig’s name, he also learns that family doesn’t necessarily mean blood relation. We also have to talk about his new nanny, the old woman who is also part of his family. Leo’s finally growing up, and Jimena will have to deal with that soon enough (though she’ll have help, of course). Also, that bit where Leo tells Violeta that she and Emma are his family, too, was so cute! In the meantime, Santi spent a lot of this season trying to be the cool guy, not only by getting together with a girl sexually, but also looking to advance his musical career. Ultimately, he manages to win at both, because he works with the local band and makes his old band realize they messed up by throwing him out, and his new “partner,” Mariana, is happy to be friends with benefits instead of getting in a relationship that would lead to marriage (whoops).

On the other hand, there’s a lot going on with Sofia this season. She starts off wanting to go back to her old school in the city, then she gets into a big fight with her bestie, Curly, only to learn later that they both have feelings for each other, and she really doesn’t know what’s going on with her. But ultimately, after all the drama and Dario outing them without their consent, the girls decide to show everyone who’s boss, work together, and also come out (I think?) at the same time (you go, girl!).

What Happens To The Ranch?

There are many enemies to contend with in season 3 of The Manny. For one, Melissa is someone who is determined to ruin Jimena out of what seems like pure jealousy. In the meantime, there’s also Fernandez, who wants to make sure Gabriel and his dad’s farm fails. Melissa and wannabe-politician Fernandez get together to make it look like Gabriel and his dad are messing with the water supply of the whole area, which is why only their land is green, and the rest is dry and barren. But the truth is, it’s Fernandez who is doing this. Gabriel and Jimena finally decide to work together to prove that Fernandez is the bad guy, because it will help both with the ranch as well as Jimena’s father’s company (and her reputation). But they get caught by some men working for Fernandez, tied up, and left on the farm, all while Violeta’s stuck dealing with their dads trying to discuss how Gabriel and Jimena are not meant for each other.

But it’s so obvious that the two still love each other and are only pretending because of their circumstances. Violeta gets the videos the two sent, and then also proceeds to go rescue them by herself, while Emma’s back home with her new brother, Leo (and his nanny). Fernandez resigns as a candidate for mayor, and Melissa has also realized this is for the best, it seems.

Do Gabriel and Jimena Get Their Happy Ending?

In The Manny season 3’s ending, it’s Violeta who sends Gabriel running after Jimena with the ring. Meanwhile, Leo shows Jimena how she and Gabriel are the bridge that keeps the big family together. Jimena and Gabriel rush to find each other at the same time, because they finally realize, yet again, that there’s nobody else for them. They tell each other that they love each other, and Gabriel tells Jimena that he’ll always be in his daughter’s life, even if he and Violeta don’t end up together. I’m not entirely sure why Violeta herself wanted to push the idea that Jimena and Gabriel were meant to be, despite everything that happened with Jimena. Additionally, she didn’t really tell him about Emma before showing up with her and him discovering that they had the same birthmark one day. What if he hadn’t? Would Violeta have told him about the baby? What then would she have done to get him to love her? It’s always been Jimena and Gabriel, and whatever came in between, they managed to still love each other, despite all odds.

Ultimately, they’re the bridge, even if they want different things, like Gabriel wanting to live on the ranch, and Jimena wanting to work in the big city. They’re a big family, and Gabriel finally asks her to marry him. 2 months later, it’s time for Gabriel and Jimena’s wedding. It seems after all this trouble, everyone in their big family is finally happy to see them married. Gabriel takes her on horseback, despite Jimena’s father’s annoyance. The kids are all there and happy, and we can imagine that the two babies will also grow up in a loving, happy environment. The show ends on a happy note with Jimena and Gabriel happily married, with all their loved ones around. They even get the one big happy family photo.

Will There Be A Season 4?

As of writing this article, there’s no confirmation of The Manny season 4, and I’m hoping it will not get renewed because a happy wedding is the perfect way to end this story. Everyone is happy, all the plotlines are tied off, and though the kids have a long way to go, Gabriel is no longer their manny; he’s now their dad, so it just wouldn’t make sense. If there is another season, I guess it would have to focus more on the problem of the kids. Anyway, what did you think of season 3?
