‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Season 3 Episode 7 Recap & Ending Explained: Does Conrad Still Love Belly?

Published

I know we already knew the answer to that question, but episode 7 finally gets the momentum going, with Conrad finding out about what happened in Cabo and how that’s the thing that pushes him to tell Belly how he feels. In truth, I’ve always been team Jellyfish, but the way Jeremiah’s been butchered this season is truly something that needs to be studied. Having said that, the one thing I’m certain about now more than ever is that none of these people deserve each other. This toxic trio will just end up ruining each other’s lives. If only Conrad hadn’t given up on Belly 100 times, then Jeremiah would’ve never stepped into the picture, and his bisexual self could’ve found happiness somewhere else (yeah, let’s not get on the stereotypical cheating thing). Also, I think that maybe it would’ve still been a pretty fun show. Not to mention, I think My Life With The Walter Boys turns it up many notches, but we’ll get there when we get there. Also, Taylor, baby, you deserve the world; finally one character on The Summer I Turned Pretty has learned to be mature.

Spoiler Alert

What Happens at the Bachelor Party?

The Summer I Turned Pretty episode 7 is definitely one of the more fun ones this season. We get to see some partying and dancing, which I thoroughly enjoyed (Blackpink stans, this one’s a good one for you; as a Zayn girlie, I’m not going to lie, I was a little bit embarrassed). The episode begins with a banger, “Juno” by Sabrina Carpenter, and Belly and Conrad being very awkward with each other. It’s a few days before the wedding; all the friends are coming around, so they’re just setting up the house for their party. Belly claims to be over the bathtub situation, but as soon as she hears Conrad in pain again, she rushes to him. He’s just hurting himself all the time now, but this was basically him trying to fix a light. She gets a look at the cut on his thigh (which kinda looks like it was drawn on with a marker, but okay), and he says it’s healing pretty fast, so everything’s good.

Meanwhile, Steven and Denise’s business plans seem to be growing, but at the same time, their awkward office flirting is pretty cute. Jeremiah finally shows up, and Belly’s delighted, despite the questionable choice of things he’s brought for the weekend. It’s nice that Adam’s not in the house, but this is because he’s brought Kayleigh along for the wedding. Obviously Laurel already hates her guts, but she has to keep it civil. Kayleigh even asks for her number, which must’ve been so hard for Laurel, but she is the mother of the bride, so she has to do this for Belly. Also, Julia and Skye won’t be at the wedding, of course. Guess we’re just not seeing them this season, like a bunch of other characters we like way more than Lucinda (sorry, Tay Tay).

As soon as everybody arrives, Jeremiah introduces Anika and Conrad because he really wants him to leave Belly alone. Anika is definitely interested, and some interesting (maybe questionable?) conversations are had. Also, Jere and Tay had to make out when they were kids?! Yikes. I’ve got to admit this situation feels almost incestual laid out like this. On the other hand, Taylor decides to be Steven’s wingman and senses the vibe between him and Denise. This looks sketchy at this point, but Steven says he trusts Taylor, and I trust his judgement too. Meanwhile, Conrad and Jere get talking, and the latter tells his older brother that their dad has given him a full-time job. Conrad isn’t very happy to hear this and specifically says the words “I don’t want you following in Dad’s footsteps” (Whoopsie, foreshadowing, eh?). Later, when Redbird breaks one of the hurricane vases, Conrad volunteers to clean up, but Belly says she and Jere will do it. But wait, this is the same girl who doesn’t clean her hair out of bathroom drains? I don’t know if things are adding up, but of course, Jere doesn’t care to help.

At night, when everyone’s out and Belly is getting ready for the bachelorette, Jere sneaks in a little freaky time. I suppose this is meant to be their last freaky time together, which is why it’s such a big deal? Soon enough it’s time for the drinking, partying, and bar hopping. Anika is shocked to realize Belly’s body count is literally just the Fisher brothers (whoops). Also, on a side note, I quite enjoyed the soundtrack of this episode. Also, do they really give out so many free shots for bachelorettes? Dang. So while the girls are getting drunk, Conrad and Jere try to get Steven to open up about Denise. He’s happy to admit that he’s interested in her and has “no problems.” And can we not touch upon Laurel and John getting back together? I just don’t want to break my head on that. Why would she put herself in that position again? I just don’t get it.

Finally, Belly learns from Tay that she wasn’t the one who convinced Laurel to come to the bachelorette. Immediately she knows it was Conrad, but to make matters worse, she’s super drunk. At that moment, Conrad shows up, but so does the entire gang. In Belly’s head, she’s narrating about the fact that she used to think Conrad would show up when she thought about him. We then go to a flashback when they were kids, and Belly took too long to meet Conrad, who had let her wander off on her own. She talked about unicorns, and then he bought her that unicorn. Guess that’s why she’s always loved him, eh? In the present, Belly asks Conrad if they can have a word, and she asks him if he spoke to Laurel. He tells her that this is her wedding and it’s the most important thing to her, so of course, he wants her to be happy. Denise and Steven interrupt, and Taylor asks Denise to stay with the girls while the boys go off.

Does Taylor Give Denise Her Blessing?

In the middle of all of this, Taylor takes Denise aside and asks her directly if she likes Steven. Denise tries to say no, but it’s pretty obvious now. It’s good to see Taylor being such a girl’s girl, and she tells Denise that she should give Steven a try, because she always thought a girl like her would be the perfect one for Steven. It seems they both assumed the same of each other, which is sweet too. Denise immediately calls Steven, because she’s waited long enough anyway. But, at the end of the night, when she asks him to go to her room with her, Lucinda’s there and super drunk, so Steven offers to help her. Now, Lucinda is mad at this point because Taylor called her out for being needy and clingy and told her that she’s not like her. I mean, Tay didn’t say anything wrong, but obviously she was too drunk and hurt at the time. So, I have a feeling Lucinda might end up messing up this situation a little bit. Meaning that Steven will go back to Taylor. Again.

Is Belly Going To Be Okay?

At the bar, Jere tells Conrad that he and Belly are going to be family, so Conrad can stop worrying so much for the both of them. It’s obviously him marking his territory, with the arm and all that (I hated this so much, ew). Conrad obviously says he’s happy for them and he understands (am I now a Conrad girlie? I don’t even know anymore). But, this is when things get absolutely crazy, and Redbird reveals Jere cheating on Belly to the other boys, and Conrad overhears the whole thing. He wants to confront Jere immediately, but he ends up puking his guts out. Meanwhile, Belly has a montage of Conrad and her running through her brain because she’s taken a gummy and he bought her the unicorn! Tay tries to calm her down in the bathroom, and she’s such a good friend here, just helping Belly get over her nerves. But obviously this is much more than that, and Taylor can’t really fix it; only Belly can. She’s now fully in touch with the side of her that’s still in love with Conrad. They get back home, and Jere’s too drunk to meet Belly at the beach, which is what they’d promised to do, so she’s there all by herself… But is she?

At the end of The Summer I Turned Pretty episode 7, Conrad’s at the beach with Belly and asks her to sit with him for a bit. He tells her that Jere cheated, but she admits she knew about it, which makes him more angry than he already was. When she defends Jere, he talks about how he never even looked at another girl when they were together, but this isn’t about that at all. This is about how much he hurt her feelings, always. She then tells him that he’s just doing this because she’s with Jeremiah now and that he doesn’t actually love her. But he admits that he’s always loved her and never been able to let go of her. Even back in the motel room, it was the worst decision he made. It’s nice to see him admit he messed up 4 years ago, though. He then says even if Jere’s his brother, he hates him when he sees him with her. He finally tells her to not be with Jere and to be with him instead; he finally makes the selfish move. But Belly brings up the fact that Jere’s always been there for her, is her best friend, and treated her the best; even Conrad hasn’t done that much for her (duh, they weren’t together 4 years), and it all hit pretty hard. Belly goes back to her room to sleep rather than sleep with Jere. Taylor immediately knows what’s gone down, but Elly just wants to sleep, so that’s what they agree to do. She then knocks on the wall (probably for the last time) to see if Jere is around, and he doesn’t knock back. All while Conrad just sits outside, feeling cold in the summer.
