The Traitors season 4 has been interesting, especially as someone who has never watched this show before. I’m not going to lie, this isn’t something I’d usually bother to watch, because even if I had to be part of a mafia game, I’d be bored to death in 5. This is not to say that the games aren’t fun or anything; it’s just a me problem. However, watching other people play this game and seeing strategy, tactics, and conniving all come together so seamlessly is pretty engaging, to say the least. Especially because I don’t care about these people at all. The only person I knew coming into this show was Eric Nam, and well, Michael Rapaport, but we’ll pretend otherwise. I think there is a level of rage the show automatically encourages in you because of how things are going, so I won’t deny the entertainment factor. I’m definitely curious to see who wins, and I’ll admit I’m on the side of the traitors just because it seems more fun. Anyway, with that said, it’s time to dive into this week’s episodes.
Who Got Murdered Face-To-Face?
Episode 3 of season 4 ended with 4 people up for murder, but we didn’t find out who the traitors killed until this week. Caroline happens to be the one to go this time around, and the Housewives really dramatize this whole thing. Both Candiace and Lisa are Housewives, and by killing a fellow Housewife, they manage to throw the Faithfuls off their scent for a bit. It’s really funny how much they talk about being a sisterhood and yet stab each other in the eye. Fun stuff. I like the Housewives, I think.
What Is Killed By The Group?
The first challenge of this week is to plunge spears into giant beasts while also calling out the names of players. Currently, everyone has shields, but if their name gets called out, they’re then up for murder. But each player who gets “burnt” adds 2000 dollars to the prize money. There’s a lot going on in this challenge, and people have to run into the woods to find the spears. It’s funny how this is essentially a mind game, but you have to do so many physical challenges. That’s probably why we have a balance of gamers and athletes. Also, it’s crazy how Maura and Rob are throwing a little bit of flirting in here like it’s no big deal. I mean, he literally carried her in this challenge, but I guess it was too physically taxing.
Anyway, at the end of this task, they succeeded at the challenge. The names that got plunged are Ron, Tiffany, Stephen, Tara (Michael saying her name 100 times), Michael, Monet, Lisa, Maura, Johnny, and finally Yam Yam, who starts to cry for some odd reason. This is when everybody starts to decide who needs to be murdered next. There are 10 names up for grabs, but for some reason, Colton decides to double down on Tiffany. On the other hand, Eric says he heard a cackle at the face-to-face murders and had a name in mind, but he says he’ll reveal it later.
Finally, it comes to the round table (can I just say I loved this look on Maura? She’s really bringing the heat!). Colton doubles down on the Tiffany thing and somehow manages to turn almost everyone against her. Candiace makes sure everyone knows that she’s not siding with this Tiffany idea, because she knows how much she’s struggling. Somehow, it becomes about money and how Tiffany needs to pay for her son’s tuition. There’s some crying, and a lot of drama goes down. Tiffany tries really hard to defend herself, but Eric makes things worse when he admits that he heard a laugh at the murder scene and believed it was Tiffany’s. I mean, I guess Tiffany and Candiace might sound a little alike, but it’s unfortunate that Eric made this mistake. It turns out that almost everyone votes for Tiffany because of Colton and Eric, which leads her out of the game. But this also reveals that she’s not a traitor, leaving everyone heartbroken.
Who Is Killed By The Traitors?
Episode 5 begins with everyone being upset with Colton and directing their suspicions solely against him, considering how sure he was about Tiffany and how wrong he ended up being. But the traitors get to kill another person, and their pick is Monet, because he brought up Lisa’s name during the previous challenge. Plus, killing some of the other people would’ve been too obvious or ruined their chances of hiding. Now, Kristen really believes Colton is a traitor after what happened with Tiffany, so she starts to tell people about that, trying to turn them against him. Ironically, the first person she tells is Candiace. On a side note, I think Candiace is a perfect traitor, because everyone just wants to tell her things.
In the next challenge, the group has to split up into teams of 4, find a coin inside a fountain, and then go get a statue from inside the forest to the fountain. Basically, the coin has the location on it. The catch is that there are shields with each statue, but if nobody takes a shield, the traitors don’t get to kill anybody that night, but if not, the claws come out. This game was pretty fun to watch, especially with Alan Cumming’s commentary about butts. Everyone seems to be interested in taking shields, but especially Colton, knowing he made a mistake with Tiffany. Candiace sees this as an opportunity, but did she get him to take a shield? We won’t know until next week.
In the ending of The Traitors episode 5, Michael throws a fit about Colton, and it immediately feels like an attack, because Colton decided to try to be funny by bringing up Alan’s outfits. This quickly turns sour because of Michael’s big mouth, and he leaves everyone annoyed. Literally, every single person at the table. Finally, when it comes to the round table, everyone’s eyeing Michael, but Michael’s eyeing Colton, and then Candiace and Lisa are trying to keep Michael in the game so that they have a distraction. What Michael says here immediately comes across as homophobic, and that’s when everyone makes a decision, and he tries to defend himself multiple times, Rob even calling him out on using the wrong word, “commiseration,” instead of calling Colton cunning, which is so hilarious. So, ultimately, the person who has to leave the show is, drum roll please, none other than Michael Rapaport. Honestly, good riddance, but also, I’m starting to worry a little bit about the traitors. I definitely think Colton took a shield, but we’ll only find out next week.
