Luck is definitely not on Chelsea’s side as our young free spirit is once again under attack in episode 3 of The White Lotus. After escaping a burglar attack, she crossed paths with a python. Her Thailand trip is surely taking an adventurous turn. Meanwhile, Victoria was haunted in her sleep. In her dream she saw her house near the beach and a massive wave approaching, mimicking the 2004 tsunami that Lochlan had discussed before they went to bed. She was clueless about what Timothy was dealing with, yet her dreams hinted at the massive storm that awaited them. While Timothy and Rick could not stand each other, they were both going through a crisis, and a sense of madness had taken over them. Let’s look at every detail from episode 3 of The White Lotus season 3.

How was Timothy dealing with the crisis?
Immediately after Timothy received Kenny’s call in episode two, he contacted his lawyer, Chuck, to help him out with the situation. He emphasized how he was not directly involved, and he hoped that his lawyer would come up with a solution. But Timothy had run out of luck, and the next morning he received a call from his personal assistant informing him that there were two FBI agents at his office looking for him. Chuck contacted Timothy and explained that the FBI had obtained a warrant and they were searching his office to gather evidence. Timothy immediately knew that this would be the end of him. The FBI would find incriminating evidence against him, and he would be put behind bars. With no realistic solution in hand, Timothy decided it was best to be completely unreachable. Since Saxon worked at his company, he too had started receiving calls after the FBI agents showed up. Luckily, Saxon was not yet updated about the situation, and before he could speak to his colleagues, Timothy turned off his phone and handed it over to their butler. The resort encouraged digital detox, and Timothy expressed that it was time for his family to get rid of their devices and focus on spending quality time together. While Lochlan, Piper, and Victoria did not mind Timothy’s decision, Saxon thought it was ridiculous. Timothy took Saxon aside and complimented him for being an extraordinary employee, and said he appreciated his need to work hard constantly. He also added that apart from work, he must be in touch with his emotions, and giving away his phone and laptop was a step in that direction. Saxon looked up to his father, and he could not deny his request even though he could not quite make sense of his father’s agenda. It is safe to say that Timothy was dealing with the crisis well. He wanted to disappear, but since that was not an option, he chose to do the next best thing: to disconnect himself and his family from the world. Timothy was dead against taking pills, but seeing how stressed he was, Victoria offered him a sleeping pill, and while he was hesitant to take it at first, he eventually accepted. After losing his mind imagining the worst, the pill helped him fall asleep, and by the end of the third episode, Timothy had pretty much started to depend on the pills to make himself fall asleep. The possibility of losing everything he’d built over the years was driving Timothy crazy, but for how long would he avoid the problem at hand?
How did Rick cope with his past?
Desperate to connect with Sritala’s husband, Rick approached her during breakfast. He pretended to be a film producer who was impressed by Sritala’s performance and wanted to sign her up for a high-profile production he was involved in. Sritala blushed; the compliments boosted her confidence. She used to be an actress and continued to feel the same excitement when someone appreciated her art. She readily handed Rick her card, and he finally had access to her address. Rick promised to get back to her, and he immediately made up his mind to travel to Bangkok. Chelsea was disheartened when she figured she would have to stay at the resort alone for a couple of days. She thought Rick was too mysterious and encouraged him to share his secrets with her, but he was not ready to disclose the truth yet. Even though Rick had no interest in joining Dr. Amrita for another session, Chelsea was persistent, and he did not have much of a choice. Rick confessed to Amrita that he’d done a lot of bad things. His only regret was that he never got to meet his father, who he’d heard was a good man. He believed his father’s murder robbed him of his chance of becoming a better person. He was in search of some form of satisfaction, perhaps vengeance? Since he believed he was at a disadvantage since birth because his father had been killed, maybe he hoped to experience a sense of victory through vengeance.
What did the snakes symbolize?
Rick seemed both nervous and excited about the possibility that he was chasing. But the only thing he could not tolerate was being forced to interact with Chloe and Greg. He tried to put on a friendly face for Chelsea, but he hated every minute of the pretense. Rick was in desperate need of some weed to calm his nerves, so he and Chelsea stepped out of the resort. He felt the sudden urgency to do something unpredictable, like getting sloshed in the middle of the day or watching a local snake show; they went with the latter. From the minute Rick saw the captured snakes locked in glass cases, he felt a sense of discomfort. Wild creatures who were meant to be free were being held against their will for the entertainment of a handful of tourists and locals, and Rick simply could not make peace with it. He was high and emotional, so without thinking logically, he decided to free the snakes. Rick perhaps could relate to the reptiles. He considered himself evil, much like the snakes who are biblically considered evil creatures. Rick wondered if being evil could ever be reason enough to be trapped forever in life. He’d had to figure out his life on his own from a very young age because his father had been killed and his mother was an addict. Life had dealt him the worst cards, and he did whatever he could to make his life better. Though it looks like he repented for a few of the things that he did in life. He believed because of his circumstances, he too was trapped and an outsider would also consider him evil, but was that reason enough for him to not enjoy life and the little joys that came with it? He was so wrapped up in the constant need to seek vengeance that he never got to live an ordinary, laid-back life. He had to hustle from the minute he’d realized he had no one he could rely on. What he thought would be a liberating experience turned into a disaster after a python attacked Chelsea. She was taken to the hospital on time, and by evening she was doing fine. She warned Rick that no matter what he did, there was no way he could get rid of her. Chelsea was in love, and so was Rick, but he was always preoccupied with things that he couldn’t share with her. By night, Rick had made arrangements to travel to Bangkok; he was determined to meet Jim.
Will Belinda ruin Greg’s retirement plans?
Belinda gave a brief recap of The White Lotus season 1 as she recalled everything she’d been through before coming to Thailand while discussing her life with her colleague, Pornchai. Tanya’s decision to leave Maui with Greg, ignoring the promises she’d made to Belinda about helping her start her own spa, had left Belinda depressed. While speaking of the past, she noticed Greg for the second time at the dining hall. She knew it was him, but she wondered what he was doing in Thailand, and where Tanya was for that matter. Belinda confronted him, and Greg denied ever having been to The White Lotus in Maui or knowing a woman named Tanya McQuoid. But clearly, he was tense the minute Belinda walked up to his table. Even though Belinda was enjoying her trip to Thailand, she could sense a looming threat, but she could not really put a finger on it. Well, crossing paths with Greg can never be good news, especially if he wants you out of the picture. Would Greg play it cool pretending to be innocent and a different person altogether, or will he end up getting agitated and trying to silence Belinda? Well, you never know when it comes to Greg.
Why did Kate’s political inclination come as a shock to Laurie and Kate?
Jaclyn teased Laurie about her session with Valentin; she believed since Laurie was the only single woman in their group, she must have a Thai fling. While it was all fun and games, things took a serious turn when Kate remarked that she was a traditional person who found the new-age ideas (possibly referring to having random flings as well as the Thai treatments they were offered) a little too ‘witchy.’ On the contrary, Jaclyn could not relate to traditional values because she believed they were designed to cater to men. She thought the epic battles between good and evil always had men at the center while the women were on the sidelines, and their only role was to shed tears for their men. Kate quickly responded that she was a believer, and she went to church with her husband every Sunday after she moved to Austin. Kate took slight offense when Jaclyn asked her if she went to a church of Bible thumpers. She stated that even though they were conservatives, they were good human beings, and she liked being a part of the church community. Jaclyn wondered if as a liberal, it was weird for Kate to be surrounded with Trump supporters. Kate did not know how to respond to the question, and she simply stated that it was not weird for her. Laurie could not help but ask if she was a Republican. Kate laughed it off, saying that she was an independent but her husband, Dave, was a Republican. Jaclyn spelled it out, asking Kate if she had voted for Trump, and well, Kate did not have an answer. She was a soft-core Republican who was too afraid to admit to her beliefs in front of her Democrat friends. Kate ended up saying that she did not wish to talk about Trump.
Later that night at the end of The White Lotus episode 3, Kate overheard Laurie and Jaclyn discuss Kate’s political inclination. She knew her beliefs would not sit right with her friends, and she chose to ignore them and went back to sleep. But for how long will they ignore the fact that they found each other ludicrous at times? Will the girls ever be honest during this trip? And most importantly, will they remain friends after confessing their true feelings? Well, we have to wait and watch for the drama to unfold.
