‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Episode 6 Recap & Ending Explained: Will Greg Kill Belinda?

Published

After a night of partying, most guests at the luxury resort have woken up with a terrible hangover. The White Lotus season 2 episode 6 addresses the aftermath of letting loose for just a night—for someone like Belinda, taking the plunge was the best thing she could have done for herself, but for Saxon, it was his worst mistake. Timothy continues to be haunted by the possibility of having to face the consequences of his crime. The fact that he has access to a gun makes one think of the worst possibility. Will he ‘really’ kill himself? Now that we’re talking about death, will Rick kill Jim, the man who murdered his father? Or is there another twist waiting to unfold?

Spoiler Alert

Is Timothy planning on becoming a monk?

Timothy couldn’t find the courage to pull the trigger. He loved his family, and he could not imagine the trouble they would have to go through if he shot himself. He would have ideally preferred not existing, but it was easier said than done. While his wife continued to obsess over Piper’s decision to move to Thailand for a year, Timothy wanted to alter his reality; clearly, they were not on the same page. Piper had arranged a meeting with her guru, Luang Por Teera, because Victoria wanted to ensure that her daughter was not signing up for a cult. Timothy tagged along with his family to the monastery, and Victoria expected him to ensure that Piper was making the right choice.

Talking to Luang Por Teera helped Timothy get a sense of clarity. While he was there for his daughter, he couldn’t help but ask questions related to his situation. When Luang Por Teera mentioned how young Americans were gravitating towards Buddhist teachings because they experienced a sense of hollowness that came with America’s consumerist culture, Timothy could relate to it. All his life he took pleasure in all the luxury that money could buy him, but now that he was essentially poor, he didn’t know if his life was worth living anymore. He had associated respect, honor, and self-worth with his bank balance, something that is commonplace in a capitalist society, but all of a sudden he was forced to consider if there was a life beyond materialistic pleasure. Money helped him distance himself from pain, but Luang Por Teera believed one could never experience joy without surviving pain. Timothy asked the monk what happens after death, and he enthusiastically responded that death was not the terrible ending that one often considers it to be. He imagines human life as a droplet from the ocean that rises to its full potential and experiences individualistic pleasure, but in the end, it has to come down and join the ocean and submit to collective consciousness. According to the monk, death was peaceful and not something to be afraid of. Timothy was enlightened; this was the first time since he’d received the news of his bankruptcy that he finally found some answers he was looking for.

Victoria was displeased when Timothy announced that he approved of Piper’s decision. She proposed Piper stay at the monastery for a night, and if she could manage, Victoria too would support her. Later, at the resort, Victoria expressed how she disapproved of Timothy’s stance, but he retorted, saying that he wanted his children to be resilient and successfully handle themselves in any given situation. Victoria didn’t feel the same way; according to her, if one gets used to poverty, they start making bad decisions. Timothy was tense when Victoria added that she would rather die than live in poverty. She could not imagine a life without luxury. Towards the end of The White Lotus episode 6, Timothy wondered if he must kill himself as well as his wife to relieve her of the pain of a life of poverty, but his thought was interrupted by Saxon.

At this point, Timothy has three choices before him—

  • He can return home, surrender himself to the fed, and do his time in prison (pros: it’s the right thing to do, he will not be a fugitive, and he can restart his business; cons: he will lose his reputation, his family would look down upon him, and he will probably end up lonely and miserable).
  • He can kill himself (pros: he will be spared of the dishonor and the constant pain; cons: he will leave his family in a tough spot). But considering Gaitok has managed to retrieve the gun from Timothy’s villa, maybe shooting himself is no longer an option.
  • He can become another fugitive in Thailand, or maybe a monk (pros: he will get a better understanding of life, he can do away with worldly tension and focus on finding peace; cons: he will end up abandoning his family, give up on materialistic pleasure, and honestly, pulling it off is the biggest challenge).

Will Saxon ever get over the embarrassment?

Saxon woke up to realize that he’d had sex with Chloe and his little brother. The hangover coupled with the embarrassment made him throw up. When he figured that Lochlan had blacked out the previous night, he too took the same route and pretended he didn’t remember anything at all. But how can one fool themselves? He could not hide the truth from himself, and every time he thought about it, he cringed. He wondered why he didn’t stop Lochlan, and he ended up cursing the psychedelic pill for ruining his life.

While Saxon assumed he would not have to socially acknowledge the perversity he’d demonstrated the previous night, unfortunately, Chloe remembered everything, and she casually brought up what had transpired the previous night. Chelsea was shocked, but she quickly added that she preferred not to judge anyone. Saxon cannot ignore the fact that he had allowed his younger brother to pleasure him, and that is going to haunt him for the rest of his life. His relationship with Lochlan is forever ruined. I mean, how can you ever get past something this awkward? Saxon, who took pride in his (toxic) masculinity, was all of a sudden forced to question its parameters. He had a threesome with a man, and that man happened to be his own brother; he perhaps not only questioned his sexuality but the root of the incestuous desire. Chloe thought he had a secret kink, and that left Saxon all the more furious.

It will not be surprising if Saxon suffers from an identity crisis altogether. He was a tough man who survived on protein shakes and harassed women who dared not to show interest in him—this was his entire personality, and he perhaps secretly looked down upon homosexuality, or at least took pride in the fact that he only found women attractive, but what now? He was not the man he thought he was, and he might end up sleeping with a dozen women to prove to himself that he was still a ‘man.’ Well, you can’t help but feel sorry for Saxon at this point.

Why is the internet in love with Chelsea?

Aimee Lou Wood as Chelsea is a delight to watch on-screen, and it is not surprising that the internet is in love with her character. Chelsea is probably the most sorted character on the show, and her conversation with Saxon in episode 6 further confirms it. As someone with a serious interest in astrology, Chelsea took pride in her personality traits, and she was convinced that she was a romantic who could not indulge in meaningless sex. Saxon, in a way, blamed Chelsea for the way things panned out, because if she would’ve agreed to sleep with him, maybe the worst would not have happened. Chelsea explained that she connected with Rick on a spiritual level, and she knew that he was her soulmate. She could have slept with Saxon, but she knew it would’ve left her feeling empty. From the little conversation that she’d had with him, Chelsea had realized that Saxon didn’t have a soul, and she didn’t wish to regret something that would have essentially been pointless and unsatisfying. Chelsea’s sense of clarity is surely one to admire, and who knows, maybe her prediction might well be on point! According to Chelsea, she had faced death twice, and she was convinced that there would be a third attack, and it would be the worst one. Will Chelsea die in the shootout that we witnessed at the very episode of The White Lotus season 3? Will Rick regret not being there to protect her from the unknown that she’d been warning him about for days? Well, Chelsea’s predictions must not be taken lightly!

Is this the end of Laurie, Jaclyn, and Kate’s fun vacation?

Laurie was clearly triggered when Kate mentioned that she had seen Valentin walk out of Jaclyn’s villa early in the morning. While Kate thought it would just be another bit of gossip that they would laugh about, she soon realized Laurie was actually offended. Laurie was appalled by Jaclyn’s pretense. She wondered why Jaclyn encouraged her to get physical with Valentin when she wanted him for herself all along. Laurie didn’t want to compete; she was happy in her lane, but she believed Jaclyn had provoked her, and she wanted clarity. Kate begged her not to discuss the matter with Jaclyn, but there was no stopping Laurie. She confronted Jaclyn, disclosing that Kate had seen Valentin leave her villa. Jaclyn was surprised, and she lied that nothing had happened between her and Valentin. Laurie scoffed at her response; she added that Jaclyn was the same girl she had met in tenth grade who thrived on male attention. Laurie claimed that she didn’t wish to judge Jaclyn, but she simply wanted to be honest. Well, honesty is not always the best policy.

Kate tried to stop Laurie, but she was on a roll, and she refused to remain silent. Laurie exclaimed that they must attend the Muay Thai fight with Valentin and his friends. She wanted to see Jaclyn’s reaction, and clearly she was in a mood for some drama. Kate tried to apologize on behalf of Laurie, but Jaclyn was disappointed in both of them. She didn’t expect her close friends to gossip about her behind her back, especially when the whole world did the same. Jaclyn didn’t want the choices she made in her personal life to become public discussion, and she didn’t think she had betrayed Laurie. Even if she had, she didn’t think it was a big deal. Moreover, she wanted to forget about her one-night stand after her husband finally contacted her. After realizing that he was still into her, maybe deep down, she regretted making a hasty decision the previous night. Or, perhaps she’d been looking for an excuse to hook up with Valentin, and her husband not responding was the justification she needed. We surely can expect an honest confrontation between the three friends, and usually such honesty results in an ugly fight with no resolution in the end. Let’s see if the girls manage to keep their friendship intact after the confrontation.

What to expect at Greg’s party?

Greg is hosting a party, and he’s surely got a plan in place. Chloe was tense when Greg repeatedly asked her if she had slept with one of the brothers. She initially denied, but she gradually figured that maybe Greg took a sort of sick pleasure in imagining Chloe sleeping with one of the boys. He asked her to invite them to his party, and he also added that he had to take care of something, and he needed Chloe’s help with it.

At the very end of The White Lotus season 3 episode 6, Greg showed up in front of Belinda’s villa. Belinda was taken by surprise, and she started to sweat profusely when Greg asked her to come to his party. Belinda came up with excuses, but Greg made it clear that they needed to talk and she better find him and have the much-needed conversation. Was Greg planning on killing Belinda with Chloe and Saxon’s help? Maybe there were cameras on the yacht, and he had a recording of Chloe sleeping with the boys. Greg will possibly threaten to expose the brothers, and that will convince Saxon to help Chloe and Greg with the murder. The party might just be a front so that he can kill Belinda without raising any suspicion. Greg could also offer Belinda money to buy her silence, but somehow the worst seems to be more probable. Hopefully Belinda will make it out alive and start her own therapy center, but we’ll have to wait and find out what actually transpired in the next episode.
