‘Vash Level 2’ Movie Ending Explained: Will There Be A Third Sequel?

Published

Vash Level 2’s ending finally explained the reason why Athrava’s teenage daughter, Aarya, was still under the spell of Pratap even though Athrava had defeated the monster and rescued all the other girls under his control. Some 12 years ago, Pratap, an enchanter, had given a pinch of magical sugar to Aarya while the family was on their way to their farmhouse, and since then, Pratap had made their life a living hell. In the ending of the first film, Athrava managed to save his daughter and bring Pratap into his captivity, yet he wasn’t able to free his daughter from Pratap’s mental prison. [Spoiler Alert] Now, the second film introduced another villain, Rajnath, who called himself Pratap’s younger brother, though they were not related by blood. Rajnath was Pratap’s disciple and had learned the art of enchantment from his guru. However, there was one last spell that Pratap hadn’t taught him, and therefore Rajnath had been relentlessly looking for him all these years so he could become as strong as his master. But to his disappointment, when he finally found Pratap, he was in no condition to teach anything to anyone at all. Rajnath couldn’t control his rage, and decided to make Athrava and his daughter, Aarya, pay for making him waste years of his life, but Athrava had already made preparations to face his wrath. So how exactly did Athrava defeat Rajnath? Well, allow me to dive deeper into the ending of Vash Level 2.

Aarya Was Finally Free From The Curse

So first thing first. The spell that Rajnath wanted to learn from Pratap was one that would let him keep girls under his spell for the rest of their lives, that is, make his enchantment permanent. Remember, Rajnath told Pratap that his control lasted only as long as the girls were near him. If they went far, or if they met their parents, then the effect started to fade in two to four hours. The most he could keep a girl under his control for was 24 hours, but Pratap had kept girls under his spell for more than a decade, and that was what he wanted to learn from him. To bring the girls of J N Higher Secondary School under his spell, he had mixed a magical powder prepared in a mind control ritual in their food, similar to the sugar Pratap gave to Aarya to put a leash on her. However, it wasn’t because of this powder that Aarya remained his prisoner for 12 years. The actual reason was that Athrava owed money to Pratap. He had paid 10 rupees for his cup of tea, as Athrava didn’t have change to give to the vendor. And as it turned out, Pratap’s curse wouldn’t break until Athrava had settled his debts. Well, it’s quite scary that his daughter remained in a vegetative state for more than a decade just because Athrava borrowed 10 rupees from a stranger. The moral lesson here is to never take money from strangers, and always carry change with you.

In Vash 2’s ending, Rajnath concluded that Athrava’s daughter would come out of the spell as soon as he paid off his debts, and it actually worked. And as part of the deal, Athrava gave Rajnath the key to free Pratap from captivity; however, as soon as the girls opened the lock, Rajnath found out that Athrava had cut off Pratap’s tongue. His guru was of no use to him if he couldn’t speak. He couldn’t teach him anything. Rajnath was bewildered. He decided to punish Athrava and his daughter for deceiving him, but Athrava already had a backup plan up his sleeve.

Athrava Took Rajnath Prisoner

If you remember, at the very beginning of the film, Athrava went to a store and brought 3 huge cartons with him. Now the ending of the film revealed that he had purchased some big speakers and connected them to his smartwatch. And as soon as Rajnath started hurting him and his daughter, Athrava plugged in noise-resistant earplugs and played deafening music on the speakers, because of which Rajnath could no longer give instructions to the girls under his control. Rajnath fell to the ground holding his ears, and Athrava used the opportunity to smash a flower vase on his head, knocking him unconscious. Also, it has to be noted that Aarya wasn’t affected by this loud noise because, in the previous film, Athrava had stabbed her in the ears with scissors, causing her to go deaf, so that Pratap couldn’t control her. He believed that would bring her out of the spell, but unfortunately, it didn’t.

In Vash 2’s ending, Athrava chained Rajnath in the same cell where he had kept Pratap prisoner for 12 years. Here, he brought another set of pliers and pulled out Rajnath’s tongue, the same way he made sure that Pratap wouldn’t be able to control anyone else. So, this seems to be the end for both these monsters, at least for now. In the very end, Athrava requested the school principal, Rashmika, and SP Keshav to let these two monsters be under his captivity so he could torture them and make them pay for their sins as long as they are alive. People like Pratap and Rajnath felt a kind of sadistic pleasure watching parents grieve for their daughter while they tortured their children in front of them, and Athrava wanted to make sure that they got the same treatment for the rest of their lives so they would eventually realize how it actually felt.

However, I don’t completely agree with Athrava’s decision. It’s quite obvious that he was exacting his revenge on these monsters, but other parents who had lost their daughters deserved an explanation too. Additionally, by publicly arresting and executing Pratap and Rajnath, they could make the public aware of these dark magicians who might be hiding in plain sight. I am quite sure that in this universe there are numerous such cases all over India that haven’t been reported because the public felt that the authorities wouldn’t understand their problems. Well, no one believes in magic in the modern age, right? But that’s just my personal opinion, it would be best for the other victims if they could come forward and help Athrava work with the police to track down other enchanters like Pratap and Rajnath and put an end to their evil regime.

Aarya Will Get Better In Time

Shortly after Athrava took Pratap prisoner, he left his job as a pilot so he could take care of his daughter. He had lost both his wife and young son to Pratap’s terror, and couldn’t afford to lose his daughter as well. However, the film didn’t reveal how Athrava’s wife and son died, so it could be possible he was lying about them in order to protect his family. We’ll never know. Nevertheless, in Vash 2’s ending, Aarya came back to her senses, and in the final shot, we could see her trying to pick up a glass of juice. Before the curse was broken, it was Athrava who used to feed and move Aarya. She had been immobile for more than a decade, so it would take her some time to walk, eat, and move properly, but Athrava is there to teach her everything from scratch. Maybe one day Aarya will be able to go back to school to complete her education, and nothing will make a father happier than seeing his daughter leading a perfectly normal life.

The Film Could Return For A Third Sequel

If you have seen Shaitaan, the official Hindi remake of Vash 1, then you must be aware that director Vikas Bahl has tweaked the ending of Shaitaan in order to widen its universe. We already have one film named MAA, set in the same universe, where Madhavan’s character, Vanraj Kashyap, had an important role to play in bringing chaos to the world. It’s certain that there will be more films in the Shaitaan cinematic universe, and this brings me to the possibility that even the Vash cinematic universe could spread its wings and bring forth more and more villains akin to Pratap. Just like Rajnath, they can either be Pratap’s disciples or people who have worked with him in the past. So, if there’s a third film, then we can expect yet another enchanter, who will try to rescue Pratap and Rajnath from Athrava’s captivity. But would they be of any use to them, especially when Athrava has severed both their tongues? I don’t think so. Hence, a new villain wouldn’t be interesting, not unless the story sheds more light on the nature of the curse and how it all started.

Honestly, I think Pratap’s past would make a perfect story for the upcoming sequels or prequels. We know that Pratap is the center of chaos, but what we are not aware of is how it all started. How did Pratap actually gain his powers, and how many more like him are out there? What is the source of their powers, and what if Athrava destroys it in the end? In short, a third film could explore the beginning of this savagery, which will eventually help Athrava get to the bottom of this mess and put an end to these sorcerers. The film is a commentary on male chauvinism and misogyny. Monsters like Pratap and Rajnath come from the same school, which believes that women have no claim to the title of supreme beings, and it is the “man” who holds ultimate power. That was the reason that they spent decades learning these spells so that they could have their female counterparts dance to their tunes. They wanted to make the world realize that “man is creation, man is Brahma,” and the world couldn’t survive without male domination. Even the films made in the Hindi language followed similar themes, where men eventually turned into monsters to prove their masculine superiority. But their powers made them so blind they could no longer see that they were hurting innocent and harmless humans just to prove a point. It’s obvious that they started enjoying hurting people and putting them on a leash, and no matter how hard they tried, they could not justify their actions. If there’s a third film in the franchise, I really hope Athrava will be able to hunt down each and every one of these demons and put an end to such ideologies.
