‘Weak Hero’ Class 3 Theories: Will Choi And Seong-Je Be The Next Villain?

Published

Weak Hero Class 2 has finally come out 3 years after its first installment, and it did not disappoint. [Spoiler Alert] After seeing Si-Eun finally make some friends, we got quite a bittersweet ending for season 2, where Su-Ho returns, but Baek-Jin ends up dead. This leaves a massive opening for another season, leaving room for Su-Ho and the lot to become friends and possibly figure out what happened to Baek-Jin. The finale also gives us another post-credit scene that sees Choi, the “CEO,” approach Seong-Je to replace Baek-Jin. This could imply that Choi is responsible for Baek-Jin’s death, too. But Seong-Je walks away from the deal because he thinks it doesn’t sound “romantic.” However, we know he’s a psychopath and will probably come back to fight Si-Eun again, just for the kicks. But this is not all. Seeing that the Union has been dissolved and Eunjang has basically become its own big unit, there’s a chance that they become a target, seeing as that’s just what happens in this universe. But, with that said, let’s dive into some of the possible theories for Weak Hero: Class 3 from someone who hasn’t read the Webtoon. At the time of writing this, nothing has been confirmed about season 3, but here’s hoping.

Su-Ho will join Eunjang

I think one thing everybody wanted going into season 2 of the show was for Su-Ho to wake up and come back into the fold, but we only got this right at the end of the season because we needed that much time to be introduced to a bunch of new characters and an entire new story. If season 1 was the backstory, season 2 is the beginning of an arc that needs to be completed. Su-Ho will probably join his pal Si-Eun at Eunjang. I don’t think Su-Ho will want any kind of revenge as such, but if there’s a chance that Beom-Seok is still alive, there might be a redemption arc for him.

I don’t know about you, but there definitely seemed to be a homoerotic tension between the two boys to the point that it seemed like Beom-Seok was in love with Su-Ho, which is why he was so jealous of Young-Yi. I think spending time away from Korea and actually growing up will lead to Beom-Seok having grown as a person. So, I’d hope he’d come back to apologize to Su-Ho, though I don’t believe their friendship will be rekindled. However, I can imagine Su-Ho will become good friends with Si-Eun’s new friends, especially Hu-Min, because they’re basically the same guy. This is a dynamic I am eager to watch play out, especially in a fight.

Seong-Je Will Become The Next Big Antagonist

Having Lee Jun-Young come in as a lackey seems almost an odd choice, seeing as he’s one of the most popular young actors today. So, this leaves only one likely intention the makers of the show had in introducing him this way: having him show his strengths before he becomes the great villain of season 3. We know that Seong-Je isn’t interested in joining hands with Choi, but we also know that Choi is the kind of person who will get what he needs done without fail. This means he could force Seong-Je’s hand. But, even if he doesn’t do that, Seong-Je is always on the lookout for a good fight, and he knows that Si-Eun can put up with him; he even enjoys it. So, he’s definitely going to come back for Si-Eun. Alternatively, it would be interesting to see him change sides and actually join Si-Eun and the boys in a kids vs. adults battle, where we see the Eunjang boys go after Choi to break the cycle.

Hu-Min Will Want Revenge For Baek-Jin’s Death

While we get little insight into Hu-Min and Baek-Jin’s friendship, that story has room for a lot more exploration. For one, we don’t actually know what caused them to take two different paths. I think we could get some more insight on that, giving us enough material for Hu-Min to want to go after Choi. Because we know that he isn’t the kind of guy who will want to go out of his way to fight people. To be fair, the show is titled Weak Hero, so obviously, there has to be an underdog story, and this one is pretty perfect.

Young-Yo and Seok-Dae Might Return

I think it would be really interesting to see a reunion of the OG gang in season 3. We don’t know what happened to Young-Yi after Su-Ho’s coma, but I can imagine she’s not interested in being a part of the gang stuff anymore. So it’ll be interesting to see if she’s gone back to school. There’s also Seok-Dae, Young-Bin’s cousin, who kind of disappears after the first half of the first season. What I can imagine is that Si-Eun might want to ask him for help with something, or maybe in the grand scheme of things, he might be working for Choi, too. If Si-Eun and his friends need to go after adults, they need all the help they can get.

At the end of the day, there are endless possibilities for Weak Hero season 3, but one thing is certain: the scale will be even bigger. In an interview, Ji-Hoon said he’d like to see Si-Eun go rogue after losing his friends in season 3 because he’s always been on the side of the “good.” This would give us an entirely new perspective on Si-Eun, but I have a feeling that’s too far off his character. Still, it’ll be interesting to see if a Beom-Seok situation happens with Si-Eun too. I do think if there happens to be a season 3, it’ll be the last one to wrap everything up well. We go from the individual to a small gang to a larger fight for justice. This is a show about underdogs, and in my opinion, the only way to end it would be to see the kids get to the bottom of the system and defeat some big adult mastermind like Choi. That would truly feel like the cherry on top.
