The first half of Yellowjackets season 3 was centered around the mysterious blackmailer who had sent a suspicious DAT tape to Shauna, which her daughter, Callie, believed held secrets to her mother’s haunting past. Well, it seems like Callie’s intuition wasn’t exactly wrong. At the beginning of episode 6, as soon as Shauna found out about the tape, her mind quickly jumped to conclusions and tried to connect the dots, believing that the tape was sent by the same person who had tampered with the brakes on her van and tried to lock her in the walk-in freezer. Well, we still don’t know if these two incidents are related to the sender of the DAT tape or not (and Shauna might just be being paranoid), but the ending of episode 6 did reveal who had recorded the contents on that tape.

Episode 6’s ending brought in two unknown travelers to the Yellowjackets camp, who were quite shocked to see Ben’s freshly chopped-off head sitting on a wooden log. If you notice, the male visitor, who seems like some kind of super intense birder, has a DAT record player hanging from his neck, suggesting that while recording some wild birds in the woods, the person also recorded Lottie screaming her lungs out because she believed Natalie went against the will of the wilderness and killed Coach Ben even though the entity had hinted at them not to. However, it could also be possible that Lottie got some visions about their new visitors, which was why she lost her mind and started screaming. She might have believed that Nat’s actions had brought yet more trouble to their door, which they might have to deal with violently. The reason I say violently is because there’s no way these birders or travelers are going to trust the girls, especially after seeing Ben’s decapitated head sitting on a pedestal giving all sorts of voodoo dark magic vibes.
I guess the next episode of Yellowjackets season 3 is going to follow how the girls tackle the new visitors who have arrived in their camp. My best guess is they’ll kill the man who saw Ben’s head and freaked out, and might want to keep the woman with him alive. Maybe this was the woman who had been trying to blackmail Shauna in the present timeline and possibly trying to kill her as well.
Meanwhile, Misty, who’s playing detective to unravel the mystery centered around Lottie’s tragic death, found a few strands of hair in Lottie’s grasp while she was investigating her corpse at the morgue. Misty believed that this piece of DNA likely belonged to the last person Lottie had met, and this could take her to the killer who might have pushed Lottie down the stairs to kill her. Well, I am not sure if the killer really meant to kill Lottie or not, but the way those half-burned candles were found at the crime scene, I think it’s all kind of fishy. In order to make some progress in the investigation, Misty got a DNA profile of the hair strands, but she couldn’t do much with it unless she had a DNA to match with, right? And I believe, whoever this person is, not someone from their circle, or at least that’s what Taissa believes. But there’s something Van knows, and she’s not telling the group. So, what could this be?
In the middle of the episode, when Tai asked Van who really uses DAT tape these days and Van tried to explain, she was reminded of something that happened some 25 years ago. Her reaction suggested that she was hiding a secret that none of the girls were aware of, and this information could be related to the blackmailer who sent the tape to Shauna. I believe there were some survivors in the wilderness whom Van didn’t kill or wasn’t able to kill and lied to the group, and now this very survivor had come back to take revenge on the girls. So, whoever this mysterious person is, I guess, they are indeed related to the Yellowjackets’ past, though I don’t think they just want to kill the girls. I mean, it makes no sense tampering with the brakes, leaving a phone behind in the washroom, and locking someone in the freezer. I believe they want something from the girls, and that’s why they are leaving all these clues behind, so the girls make contact and hear what they have to say. Well, I am sure Shauna, Tai, Van, Misty and Walter will pick up the hints left by the blackmailer, and maybe at the end of season 3, they’ll eventually end up killing them, something they had been doing with the rest of the blackmailers who tried to expose the Yellowjackets in the past? Also, Callie too had a copy of the recording on the DAT tape, through which I believe she’s going to bring more trouble to herself and her mother. Well, we’ll find out soon whatever it is.
