The War With Grandpa (2020) – The Wise Guys vs. The Pint Size!

Published

The War with Grandpa directed by Tim Hill, with the amazing Robert De Niro, is a story about a sixth-grader, who is forced to move out from his room when his recently widowed grandfather arrives. The movie is based on an award-winning children’s book by the same name written by Robert Kimmel Smith.

The War with Grandpa is about Peter, an average kid who likes to play video games, hang out with his friends, and gets bullied by senior kids. He lives happily with his family, mother, father, and two sisters, until his grandfather, Ed arrives and he is made to lose his most prized possession, his bedroom. He moves into the creepy attic, where all the things that are “unwanted” are put.

“I just want my room back!”

Along with his friends, he schemes various pranks against his grandfather, ultimately waging a war against him to make him give back his room. Ed, not wanting to give in so quickly, it turns out to be an all-out war between the two. The fight begins with spilling Ed’s precious marbles all over the house, replacing his favorite cookies’ cream with toothpaste, and breaking his soundtrack records. In his War with Grandpa, he is well supported by his friends, Billy, Steve, and Emma.

Ed also puts up an equivalent fight, breaking his furniture, tampering his school essay, and destroying his fantasy land, Petersburg. He is supported by his senior friends, Jerry, Danny, and the gorgeous Diane.

“This kind of aggression shall not stand! Semper fi.”

In The War with Grandpa, Robert De Niro, is no doubt, looks utterly amazing as a grandfather, so as Oakes Fegley as the grandson. The “trash talk” they often have will definitely put a smile on your face, so does the Declaration of War letter which Peter gives to Ed. The adorable peace meeting moderated by the youngest daughter Jenny will definitely take your heart away.

“Declaration of War. You give me back what is mine or face the consequences.”

The War with Grandpa also has other supporting casts, Christopher Walken, Rob Riggle, Jane Seymour, Cheech Marin, and even Uma Thurman, who have done their part well, making this “war” more humorous and entertaining.

The War with Grandpa is a perfect treat for all the family, which you can enjoy in these hard times. The pranks they pull on each other do make you laugh, and feel adorable at times. With laughs from start to finish and a remarkable cast led by Robert De Niro, it is a movie you cannot miss. As perfectly put in the poster, it is “Comedy for the Whole Family”.
