TVF Pitchers – A Venture into the Unknown!

Published

TVF Pitchers is another great web series by TVF, aired on 3rd June 2015, developed by Arunabh Kumar. The series is about four friends, Naveen, Jitu, Yogi, and Mandal, working in the corporate world, who eventually quit their jobs to develop their own start-up company. The series is so much appreciated by the viewers that it has created its own, separate fan-base who are waiting eagerly for its second season.

The series commences with Naveen, frustrated by his monotonous job and not able to bag any project in the company, deciding to quit his job. He gets drunk and gives his resignation, inspired by his senior and mentor, Bhati.

“Tu beer hai aur teri company, bottle”

To avoid leaving a good employee, the company offers him a position in the branch office in Beijing. He half-heartedly agrees for the proposal, hoping that would bring something new in his life, but while at the airport he realizes he is not destined for these mundane jobs. He also receives the news of “B-Plan” reaching the final of NASSCOM start-up conclave. This made him finally give up the offer and work to develop his own company to make his dream come true.

He persuades his other three friends, Jitendra Maheshwari (Jitu), Yogendra Kumar (Yogi), and Saurabh Mandal (Mandal), to quit their jobs and become partners for his start-up company. They instantly agree to leave their jobs and work with him, because of their trust in Naveen.

The series then portrays their struggle, facing rejections from the investors, and giving up all their money and time on the idea. Jitu is the coder in the team, who juggles between his work and his married life. Naveen comes as the team leader, sacrificing everything for their company, and not letting the others get demotivated on the go. He takes the important decisions for the team, and also uplift the emotional touch in the show.

“Nahi try karenge toh definitely successful nahi honge”

Yogi, played by the founder of TVF himself, Arunabh Kumar, is the team’s armor who gets shit done. He is tough and brash in nature.

“Gunde nahi hai, Entrepreneurs hai”

Mandal, played by Abhay Mahajan, is the cheerful one who brings the team together every time things fall apart.

“I am a zero in this team, but inke peeche lag jaata hu to net value 10 times ho jaati hai”

The show, unlike TVF’s other shows about emotions and love and relationships, is about dreams and showing the reality of life. All those working in the corporate world, have asked this question at least once, looking in the mirror, “what are we doing?”. Those who want to quit their job and do something of their own, but lack that spark, the show is a must-watch for them. The show is about everyone who wants to quit their job, who wants to start afresh. With a perfect blend of emotions and humor, it will surely ignite that spark in you which you always lack.

The show is brilliantly acted and written. It is not just about four friends making us laugh, and talking about friendship and dreams. The thing which makes Pitchers stand out is intellect. It is very intelligent but never comes off as pretentious. The show is spread over 5 episodes and can be binge-watched and would surely make you crave for the second season.
