Hawkeye Episode 5 runs at a steady pace. Everything that happens only points towards one character, i.e., Wilson Fisk AKA Kingpin.
Episode 5 begins with Yelena Belova on a mission. It shows both the blips of Avengers: Endgame, one in which half of the earth’s population disappeared and the second one in which they came back. Yelena was one of them. While the gap was of 5 years, it was a matter of seconds for all those who disappeared. After returning, or rather reappearing, Yelena comes to know that her sister is no more. The rest, we all know. This event took place in between the end of Black Widow and its post-credits scene. The manipulation game was played by Valentina Fontaine.
Next up, we have a hurt Kate Bishop, who returns to her mom Eleanor. She tells her what she found out about Jack and that he is involved with Sloan Limited. Later on, it is revealed that Eleanor did do some digging and got Jack arrested. So much for a better family.

Maya Lopez and Clint Barton
Things to remember:
- Kingpin is the uncle of Maya Lopez.
- Maya Lopez’s father, William Lopez, was killed by the Ronin.
- Maya Lopez wants to kill Ronin (Clint Barton) for revenge.
- Clint Barton tells Maya Lopez that Wilson Fisk hired him to kill her father, William.
This means that the reason behind this war between Ronin and Maya is Wilson Fisk. Maya even asks Kazi about the day her father died. Kazi, her father’s prime assistant, didn’t accompany him to the fateful meeting. She questions him about it, but he simply brushes it away. It seems as if he, too, was a part of the plan to kill Maya’s father.
The One at Fault
In the next scene, there is a long conversation between Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova. Each one tries to prove that she is right. While we are inclined towards Kate, Yelena is only reasonable. And more than an assignment, she wants to look Clint Barton in the eye and ask him why he did what he did, or so she thinks. It is just as Clint tells Maya Lopez later when he meets her as the Ronin, “…when you are filled with rage, it makes you blind.” It’s harsh but true. He warns her for the last time and leaves.
Kate Bishop and Yelena Bishop
Things to remember:
- Yelena Belova tells Kate Bishop that her mother, Eleanor Bishop, hired Yelena to kill Clint Barton.
- The post-credits scene of Black Widow has Valentina Fontaine giving Yelena the assignment to track Barton.
So, it may be that Yelena is purposefully doing this to turn Kate against her mother. And the picture of Eleanor with Wilson Fisk, AKA Kingpin, is proof of her involvement with him. Be that as it may, the appearance of Wilson Fisk has thus upped the ante of Hawkeye.
Hawkeye Episode 6 is bound to be more gripping. And we cannot wait to see a confrontation between Hawkeye and Kingpin. Strength versus technique, something that hasn’t really been done before in the MCU.
